Under the night sky, stars glittered brilliantly.
Two figures shot towards Tianya Pavilion at unbelievable speed, leaving massive trails of air turbulence behind them. Their presence was astonishingly powerful.
Soon, the two stopped on a rooftop not far from Tianya Pavilion. In the light, their appearances became clear: two middle-aged men, one fat, one thin, both clad in black robes.
“There,” the fat one pointed at Tianya Pavilion and said coldly. A venomous glint flickered in his eyes from time to time. As he stood there, his aura surged, making the surrounding air seem to still. His presence was unimaginably strong.
“I never thought he’d hide here,” the thin one said, his gaze falling on Tianya Pavilion. A cold smirk flashed across his face. “If we didn’t have our special tracking method, we really wouldn’t have found him in this huge Tianhai City. But now that we have, he won’t escape our grasp no matter what.”
“Shall we strike now?” the fat one asked gravely.
“No. Tianhai City isn’t the right place to act. The National Security Bureau has extremely strong forces here. If we make a move, things could go wrong,” the thin one said, shaking his head.
“Then what do we do? The Thousand-Year Ice Dew is in his hands. If we wait, he might consume it,” the fat one said, unwillingness flashing in his eyes. Yet he knew the thin one was right. China strictly controlled ancient martial artists like them. Acting in Tianhai City would certainly provoke a fierce response from the Chinese side. They might even be hunted by China’s top experts. Though they weren’t afraid, it would be a massive hassle.
“We wait until he leaves Tianhai City, or until he goes somewhere remote. Then we strike,” the thin one said heavily. “With our special tracking technique, we can find him no matter where he goes.”
“That’s too passive. If the Thousand-Year Ice Dew ends up in someone else’s hands, we’ll have nothing. What if he stays in Tianhai City for ten years? Are we supposed to wait ten years? We don’t have that kind of time. Besides, when have we, the Bloodkill Twin Eagles, ever been this passive?” the fat one said, shaking his head.
“Then what do you suggest?” The thin one thought about it and agreed there was some logic. Tianhai City wasn’t some desolate wilderness. Staying ten years wasn’t impossible, and by then the Thousand-Year Ice Dew would long be gone.
“The only way to obtain the Thousand-Year Ice Dew is to lure the snake out of its hole,” the fat one said, staring at Tianya Pavilion with a venomous glint in his eyes.
“Lure the snake out of its hole? You mean…” The thin one’s eyes lit up, and he let out a sinister cackle.
Tianya Pavilion.
“Li Feng, you’re only getting up now? It’s already dark.”
Li Feng had just finished cultivating and stepped out of his room when he heard Ge Ying grumbling. “I was counting on you to take me out to have fun in Tianhai City.”
“Ge Ying, Tianhai City is actually more fun at night,” Li Feng said with a smile.
“Li Feng, you… you actually broke through?” When Ge Feng saw Li Feng, disbelief flashed across his eyes. Li Feng had just broken through and, although he had stabilised his cultivation, his aura was still slightly unsettled. Ge Feng could sense the overflowing energy around Li Feng. It was different from this morning. The only explanation was that he had advanced a realm.
“I broke through by accident,” Li Feng said, nodding.
“Broke through by accident?” Ge Feng stared at Li Feng, lost for words. He could break through just “by accident”? Had Li Feng’s talent really reached the point where breakthroughs could happen carelessly? Thinking about how he himself needed years of bitter training for each minor realm, he felt deeply unbalanced.
“Yeah,” Li Feng confirmed with another nod.
Ge Feng didn’t know what to say. Why couldn’t he ever “accidentally” break through?
“Li Feng, how did you break through so quickly?” Even Ge Ying showed shock in her eyes. She practised ancient martial arts too and knew perfectly well how difficult cultivation was, yet on Li Feng all common sense seemed useless.
“By the way, Ge Feng, Ge Ying, these are gifts for you.” Li Feng took out two jade bottles and handed them to the siblings.
“What are these…?” Ge Ying accepted a bottle and asked curiously.
“One drop of Thousand-Year Ice Dew each,” Li Feng said calmly.
“What? Thousand-Year Ice Dew?” Ge Ying’s expression changed instantly. She hurriedly said, “Li Feng, Thousand-Year Ice Dew is far too valuable. I can’t accept it.”
Though Ge Ying was usually carefree, faced with a single drop worth tens of billions, she didn’t dare accept it lightly.
“Why so polite with me? I didn’t spend a single penny on this Thousand-Year Ice Dew. Besides, I’ve already taken some myself. Taking more would have greatly reduced effects and would just be wasteful. Better to let you two use it and raise your strength,” Li Feng said with a smile.
“But…”
“No buts. Ge Feng, Ge Ying, you don’t know this, but I have quite a few powerful enemies in Tianhai City. Some of them are so strong I can barely handle them alone. I need help. You are my friends, so you were the first people I thought of. But your current strength is too low. At your level, even if you wanted to help me, you couldn’t. The only solution is to increase your strength quickly. Thousand-Year Ice Dew is the best thing for that. If you feel bad about it, just help me out a few times after you’ve grown stronger. That’ll be more than enough,” Li Feng said gravely.
He had actually had this idea ever since meeting the Ge siblings in the underground city. In his view their strength was low, but among the younger generation they were outstanding. If their strength was raised, they would become excellent assistants.
Moreover, the Ge family was clearly no ordinary family. Doing this was also a way of building goodwill with them. After all, he needed friends, not enemies everywhere.
Of the eight drops of Thousand-Year Ice Dew, he had given one to Zhong Shuhui, one each to Ge Feng and Ge Ying, and consumed three himself. Of the remaining three, one was reserved for Hu Yuanyuan, and the last he planned to dilute and distribute among the Black Eagle team members. Even diluted, the energy contained in Thousand-Year Ice Dew should be enough to let every member of Black Eagle transform their vigour into true qi and become genuine martial artists. Then his Black Eagle team would truly be a martial artist squad.
“But…”
“No more buts. It’s settled.” Li Feng cut them off. To him, giving Thousand-Year Ice Dew to the Ge siblings was absolutely worth it. Apart from them, he couldn’t think of anyone else suitable.
Originally he had considered giving it to Li Chuanwei and Mu Chunfeng, his nominal father and grandfather, but Thousand-Year Ice Dew was too extraordinary. The matter could not be revealed to anyone. Countless spies surrounded Li Chuanwei and Mu Chunfeng. If even a whisper got out, the consequences would be unimaginable. Even if only the Li family itself learned of it, he would never know peace again.
So after thinking it over, he decided it was better to give it to the Ge siblings.
Besides, to others heavenly treasures like Thousand-Year Ice Dew were once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, but in Li Feng’s view, such treasures might not remain beyond his reach forever.
“Li Feng, you will always be our friend,” Ge Feng said solemnly, looking at him.
Li Feng smiled. That was exactly the sentence he wanted to hear.
“Li Feng, I’m going to cultivate first.” Ge Feng gazed at the jade bottle in his hand, a sharp glint in his eyes. He could hardly wait to experience the effects of this legendary heavenly treasure.
“Go ahead,” Li Feng said. He knew Ge Feng was a cultivation maniac with excellent talent. If not for limited resources, his current strength would surely be far greater.
Ge Feng nodded and immediately returned to his room.
Li Feng turned to Ge Ying. “Ge Ying, are you coming out with me, or…?”
“I… I think I’ll go cultivate too.” Ge Ying thought for a moment and made a difficult decision. She really wanted to go out and play, but since Li Feng had given her such a precious heavenly treasure, she felt she should work hard, raise her strength, and only then would she be able to help him.
With that, she hurried back to her room without waiting for Li Feng to reply.
“The Young Master has made two good friends,” Zhong Shuhui said as she walked over, sighing with emotion.
“The Ge siblings are indeed good people,” Li Feng nodded. The Ge brother and sister could be considered his first true friends since arriving in this world. His current relationship with Song Zhiyuan was good, but Song Zhiyuan was merely an ally; there would inevitably be scheming and manoeuvring in the future. With the Ge siblings it was different. He could clearly feel their sincere honesty.
“Young Master gave away two drops of Thousand-Year Ice Dew. I’m afraid it’s not simply because the Ge siblings are your friends, is it? I suspect you have another purpose,” Zhong Shuhui said with a knowing smile.
“Another purpose?” Li Feng was taken aback.
“Isn’t there one?” Zhong Shuhui smiled meaningfully. “Young Master, your real intention isn’t the wine, right? But I have to say, you are incredibly generous. Anyone would be moved.”
“Zhong Shuhui, what riddle are you speaking? I don’t understand,” Li Feng said, shaking his head.
“Young Master, why pretend with me? Are you saying it’s not because of Ge Ying?” Zhong Shuhui countered.
“Because of Ge Ying?” Li Feng paused, then realised Zhong Shuhui thought he fancied Ge Ying and that was why he gave Thousand-Year Ice Dew to the siblings.
Li Feng looked at Zhong Shuhui with amusement. “Zhong Shuhui, I also gave you a drop of Thousand-Year Ice Dew. Does that mean you think I have feelings for you too?”
Zhong Shuhui froze, then her face flushed red and she didn’t dare meet Li Feng’s eyes.
Looking at her slightly blushing cheeks, Li Feng couldn’t help recalling the time he had barged into her office and seen her half-undressed.
“Young Master, Young Master Song called just now. He’ll be arriving at Tianya Pavilion very soon. He says there’s something he wants to discuss with you,” Zhong Shuhui quickly changed the subject.
“Song Zhiyuan?” Li Feng’s heart stirred.
At that very moment, his phone rang.
