“And you think that means something?” Li Feng gave a cold laugh and continued walking towards the villa.
“Stop right there.” Young Master Chen’s expression turned icy as he stepped in front of Li Feng. “Kid, get lost right now, or I’ll make sure you regret it.”
“Make me regret it? Who do you think you are?” Li Feng sneered. He glanced at Zhu Yuanyang beside him and said, “I’m only here tonight because Yuanyang invited me. On what grounds are you telling me to leave?”
“On the grounds that my name is Chen Haotian,” the man replied coldly.
“Chen Haotian? What kind of rubbish is that?” Li Feng snorted in contempt. His mind, however, was racing. Anyone who could appear at Zhu Yuanyang’s villa and act this arrogantly was clearly no ordinary person.
“You’re courting death.” Chen Haotian fixed Li Feng with a murderous stare.
“A grown man running his mouth like a coward. You really think you can do anything to me? Hah. The dogs that bite don’t bark.” Li Feng laughed coldly, then turned to Zhu Yuanyang. “This idiot isn’t your husband, is he?”
“Of course not.” Disdain flashed across Zhu Yuanyang’s eyes when she looked at Chen Haotian.
“Good. For a moment I thought he was the man of the house. Yuanyang, you didn’t actually invite trash like this, did you?” Li Feng flicked a dismissive glance at Chen Haotian. “Inviting someone like him just shows poor taste. Remember, next time you see his type, have them beaten out with sticks.”
“Mhm.” Zhu Yuanyang gave a soft, girlish hum of agreement.
Chen Haotian instantly exploded with rage. “Zhu Yuanyang! I’m your fiancé! And this is how you treat me because of that man?”
Fiancé?
Zhu Yuanyang’s fiancé?
Li Feng froze. He had never imagined this Chen Haotian was her fiancé. So what exactly was Zhu Yuanyang playing at tonight, using him as a shield against her own fiancé?
Zhu Yuanyang stared coldly at Chen Haotian. “Chen Haotian, my affairs are none of your business. Fiancé? I’ve never acknowledged you. We have no relationship whatsoever.”
“What did you say?” Chen Haotian’s face twisted, his eyes flashing with menace.
“I’ve never admitted you were my fiancé, so stop deluding yourself,” Zhu Yuanyang said icily. “Besides, I’ve never liked you, and I never will.”
“Is it because of him?” Chen Haotian jabbed a finger at Li Feng.
“Yes and no,” Zhu Yuanyang replied ambiguously.
“Very well. Excellent.” Chen Haotian glared at her, then fixed his gaze on Li Feng. “Kid, nobody has ever dared take a woman from me, Chen Haotian. I’ll remember you.”
“I’m only interested in women. I don’t need you remembering me,” Li Feng said with a cold laugh, slipping an arm around Zhu Yuanyang. “Though I never expected Zhu Yuanyang to be your fiancée. How perfect. You see, I especially like taking other men’s fiancées. The loftier your status, Chen Haotian, the more excited I get.”
“You…” Chen Haotian’s eyes blazed with fury. If looks could kill, Li Feng would already be dead a thousand times over.
“Chen Haotian, want something even more thrilling?” A wicked grin curved Li Feng’s lips.
“What?” Chen Haotian snapped.
“This.” Before anyone could react, Li Feng turned Zhu Yuanyang towards him and, under her stunned gaze, crushed his lips fiercely against hers.
“Mmph…”
Zhu Yuanyang’s eyes flew wide open. She stared at Li Feng in total disbelief. She had never imagined he would suddenly do this. For a moment she was completely thrown off balance, rage boiling inside her.
The real reason she had invited Li Feng tonight was not to use him as a mere shield. She wanted to provoke conflict between him and Chen Haotian, then let Chen Haotian deal with Li Feng.
She did intend to ease tensions with Li Feng on the surface, but that did not mean she had forgotten the humiliations he had inflicted on her. Quite the opposite. She had never forgotten a single one. Moreover, at the Fengyuan Group press conference, Li Feng had treated her like some loose woman. That was utterly unforgivable. Had the chewing-gum bomb not come from her own hand, she would never have cooperated with him that day.
In the shadows, she had been plotting how to destroy him. If Li Feng did not have an Innate expert protecting him, she would not have needed to borrow Chen Haotian’s hand. But he did, so striking directly would harm her own interests. She needed to maintain an appearance of reconciliation while someone else removed him. Success or failure would have nothing to do with her.
Chen Haotian was the perfect tool. She knew his personality and his capabilities well. If he went after Li Feng, it would be ideal for her. Even with an Innate expert at Li Feng’s side, Chen Haotian’s own forces were far from weak.
Everything had gone smoothly from the moment Li Feng arrived. She had sacrificed only a little intimacy to successfully ignite conflict between the two men. What she never expected was that Li Feng would completely disregard convention and actually kiss her.
From childhood to now, no one had ever kissed Zhu Yuanyang. Li Feng’s sudden assault left her mind blank, rooted to the spot.
While she stood stunned, Li Feng had no such hesitation. Following the principle that only a fool passes up free advantages, he deepened the kiss until Zhu Yuanyang was gasping for air before finally releasing her.
“So sweet,” he murmured, licking his lips with obvious relish.
“Li Feng, you…” Only now did Zhu Yuanyang recover, glaring at him in fury.
“Yuanyang, don’t worry. Tonight I’ll show you the greatest pleasure life has to offer,” Li Feng said tenderly, ignoring her anger entirely. Inwardly, however, he sneered. Did Zhu Yuanyang really think he was so easy to manipulate?
“You’re dead!” Chen Haotian roared. Seeing his fiancée kissed right in front of him was something no man could endure, least of all him. Without thinking, he swung a fist at Li Feng.
A cold smile lifted the corner of Li Feng’s mouth. Before the punch could land, his palm whipped out.
Slap!
With a crisp sound, Chen Haotian crashed to the ground.
“You dare hit me?” Gritting his teeth against the searing pain in his cheek, Chen Haotian stared at Li Feng in disbelief.
“A mangy dog like you? Why wouldn’t I?” Li Feng laughed coldly, then, arm still around Zhu Yuanyang, strode into the villa.
The villa was brightly lit, elegant music drifting through the air. Several burly men in black suits holding walkie-talkies stood at the entrance.
“Have you gone far enough?” As soon as they were inside, Zhu Yuanyang hissed coldly.
“Far enough? I haven’t had nearly enough of kissing you,” Li Feng replied with a lazy smirk.
“Li Feng, don’t think I can’t touch you just because you have an Innate expert at your side,” Zhu Yuanyang warned icily.
“Hah, Zhu Yuanyang, don’t pretend that little show outside wasn’t your arrangement. Do you take me for an idiot? You should be grateful all I did was kiss you. Next time, I’ll take you right where you stand. There’s nothing in this world I, Li Feng, don’t dare to do.” He snorted derisively.
A mocking glint flashed through Zhu Yuanyang’s eyes.
Li Feng, oh Li Feng. You stole my first kiss. So what? The more you act like this, the better it works for me. You’ll never guess who Chen Haotian truly is. An Innate expert at your side? It won’t save you.
Unaware of her thoughts, Li Feng swept his gaze across the grand hall.
The space was vast and opulently decorated. A dance floor occupied the centre, surrounded by long tables draped in white cloth and laden with delicate pastries and red wine.
In the northwest corner, a band played softly while young men and women danced. Those not on the floor stood in small groups, wine glasses in hand, conversing in low tones.
Everyone knew Zhu Yuanyang had gone out to greet a guest, so when she entered arm-in-arm with Li Feng, surprise flickered across many faces. Those who did not recognise him wondered who could possibly merit such personal attention from her.
Those who did know Li Feng changed expression instantly. Xu Shaohua especially flashed a calculating look before quietly slipping out of the hall.
The people who had arrived with Chen Haotian, aware of the supposed engagement, stared daggers at Li Feng when they saw Zhu Yuanyang clinging to his arm.
Outside the villa, Chen Haotian watched them disappear inside. His face was livid, murderous intent burning in his eyes.
He had originally despised this fiancée of his. In his view, a man like Chen Haotian could have any woman he wanted; he had no need for an arranged marriage.
Yet after coming to China and seeing the breathtaking Zhu Yuanyang, his first impulse had been to possess her. None of the women he kept could compare.
To think that before he had even touched her, another man had kissed her in front of him, and his own fiancée had not only failed to feel shame but had mocked him instead. This was utterly intolerable.
“Young Master Chen.”
Xu Shaohua approached, eyes widening at the vivid handprint on Chen Haotian’s face. “Young Master Chen, someone actually hit you? Who’s bold enough to lay a hand on you?”
“Are you here to mock me?” Chen Haotian fixed him with an icy stare.
