“Song Shao, what kind of place is New Century exactly?” Inside Song Zhiyuan’s car, Li Feng asked with curiosity.
“No way, Peak Shao, you really don’t know what New Century is?” Song Zhiyuan glanced back at him in disbelief while driving.
Li Feng nodded.
“Peak Shao, don’t ever tell anyone else that you’ve lived in Tianhai City for over a year and still don’t know about New Century.” Song Zhiyuan was speechless.
“What’s so strange about that? Tianhai City isn’t that big, but it isn’t small either. How could I know every single place?” Li Feng replied calmly.
“It’s different. New Century is Tianhai City’s most exclusive aristocratic club. It’s the favourite spot for the young men and women of high society. With your status, it would be stranger if you did know it,” Song Zhiyuan explained.
“Like the Emperor Pavilion?” A glint flashed in Li Feng’s eyes.
“Similar in style to Emperor Pavilion, but the clientele is different. It only serves Tianhai City’s true upper class,” Song Zhiyuan said.
Li Feng nodded, yet his mind drifted to Emperor Pavilion. There had been no movement from them for a long time. He had almost forgotten about them. But would Emperor Pavilion really let matters rest? Obviously not. Their silence only meant they were brewing a bigger scheme.
At this thought, Li Feng grew wary. The very first threat he faced after arriving in this world was Emperor Pavilion. They had tried to kill him time and again. Until Emperor Pavilion was destroyed, trouble would never end.
Lately he had been so focused on dealing with the four great families, Qin Feng, Fu Yanxiong and the others that he had neglected Emperor Pavilion.
It was time to turn some attention back to them. Otherwise, if they hatched another plot, he might once again be caught off guard.
“Peak Shao, did you really kill Chen Haotian?” Song Zhiyuan asked suddenly.
“I didn’t expect even you to have heard already. But tell me, Song Shao, do you think I would kill Chen Haotian?” Li Feng smiled and turned the question back on him.
“I don’t know.” Song Zhiyuan shook his head. If it were the old Li Feng, he would have denied it without hesitation. But the current Li Feng was different. Song Zhiyuan didn’t know him well anymore, yet he felt this Li Feng was capable of anything.
“Actually, whether I did or not no longer matters. What matters is that Hongmen will come looking for trouble.” A cold light flickered in Li Feng’s eyes. “I just hope the people they send don’t disappoint me.”
A chill ran down Song Zhiyuan’s spine. He didn’t doubt Li Feng’s words in the slightest. With the innate-realm experts at Li Feng’s side, anyone Hongmen sent who wasn’t at least innate-realm would simply be courting death.
Among Tianhai City’s top clubs, there were two that stood out: Emperor Pavilion and New Century. As a premier venue, New Century offered first-class service and facilities.
Unlike Emperor Pavilion, New Century opened only to true high society, and its membership requirements were extremely strict. To enter, one either had to be a member or accompany a member.
Consumption here was naturally astronomical, but membership itself was a symbol of status, making everyone flock to it. Many people desperately wanted in yet lacked the qualifications.
After all, unlike Emperor Pavilion, money alone could not buy entry to New Century. Being part of high society here wasn’t measured merely by wealth. Nouveau-riche types would never qualify.
Tonight, the entire sixth floor of New Century had been booked for a private event.
When Li Feng and Song Zhiyuan arrived, the car park was already packed with luxury vehicles. Song Zhiyuan’s car was decent, but compared to the others it paled slightly.
Unlike Li Feng who wore ordinary clothes, Song Zhiyuan was decked head-to-toe in designer labels, yet Li Feng showed no trace of feeling underdressed.
Even the doormen knew that anyone who dared come to New Century was no ordinary person. No one would show up here unless their background was exceptional.
“So Tianhai City has a place like this.” Li Feng looked around New Century and smiled.
“This is nothing. Compared to the Imperial Capital Club in Yanjing, New Century is child’s play,” Song Zhiyuan said with a laugh.
Imperial Capital Club, huh?
A cold glint flashed in Li Feng’s eyes. The Imperial Capital Club was Yanjing’s most famous, most luxurious, highest-tier club. But in his memories, Li Feng’s impression of it was extremely poor. He had once been thrown out of there.
Thinking of Yanjing made his gaze turn icy.
He had far too many bitter memories in Yanjing. Even living under the protection of Li Chuanwei and Mu Chunfeng, his heart still harboured too much humiliation, anger and hatred.
One day, he would return to Yanjing and settle every debt.
“Let’s go.” Song Zhiyuan urged.
Inside New Century, they were greeted by rows of servers dressed in Tang-style robes.
Song Zhiyuan explained, “Although it’s called New Century, everything is retro. These servers are wearing nothing underneath. If you fancy one… heh heh…”
Li Feng understood at once what such clubs’ “service” really meant.
At the entrance stood a card reader. Members swiped to enter.
Song Zhiyuan swiped his card and led Li Feng inside.
“Peak Shao, do you know who booked the entire sixth floor tonight?” Song Zhiyuan asked as they walked.
Li Feng shook his head. This was his first time hearing about New Century; how could he know?
“Heh heh, you’ll be shocked in a minute.” Song Zhiyuan grinned mysteriously.
They took the lift to the sixth floor. The moment the doors opened, a server approached with a smile.
“Welcome, young masters.”
She looked about twenty, beaming brightly. Li Feng’s eyes lit up. She wore pale yellow flowing robes, her beauty breathtaking and flawless. Her snowy cheeks carried a faint blush, delicate and charming. Her nose and lips seemed sculpted to perfection.
Her cloud-like hair was pinned with a jade hairpin, strands cascading over her fragrant shoulders. The black pearl on the pin gleamed against her raven tresses. The pale yellow robes hugged her exquisite curves, exuding boundless allure. One couldn’t help but want to undo the sash at her waist and discover the secrets beneath.
“Nice, right? Gets the blood racing, doesn’t it?” Song Zhiyuan nudged Li Feng with a smirk. “This ancient-style outfit is especially exciting. If you want, just book a private room later, or even take her to the restroom.”
Li Feng smiled and shook his head. The costume was indeed striking, but which server here was actually clean? Even if a few were, they would be rare. He wasn’t interested in that kind of woman, not even for a fling.
Still, the outfits were exquisite and highly provocative. He made a mental note to have Hu Yuanyuan and Xu Qing try something similar one day.
“Peak Shao, you really don’t know how to enjoy yourself.” Song Zhiyuan rolled his eyes, convinced Li Feng was just pretending. Every man who came to New Century loved these classically dressed servers.
“You can enjoy imperial treatment here, Peak Shao. It’d be a waste not to try,” Song Zhiyuan added.
Li Feng gave a wry smile and shook his head. He and Song Zhiyuan were different; he had his own principles.
Suddenly a thought struck him. “Song Shao, who owns New Century?”
Song Zhiyuan glanced around, then leaned in and whispered a name.
Li Feng froze. A sharp glint flashed in his eyes. He truly hadn’t expected the owner of New Century to be that person.
While they talked, the server led them into a vast hall. Many guests stood in small groups, chatting and laughing, each accompanied by a server in ancient costume.
Li Feng swept his gaze across the crowd and suddenly paused. He spotted a familiar face. The moment he looked over, the person quickly turned away.
Li Feng was certain he knew them, or at least had met them several times.
Could it be Qin Feng, Fu Yanxiong, or Li Wu?
He shook his head. If it were any of them, he would recognise them instantly. Clearly it was someone else.
But who?
This was New Century. Ordinary people couldn’t enter. Anyone here had to have status and background.
Just as Li Feng pondered, someone bumped into him.
Cold light flashed in Li Feng’s eyes. He seized the person’s wrist and said icily, “What do you think you’re doing?”
“Sorry, sorry, I wasn’t looking where I was going.” It was a pale-faced young man in his early twenties. He hurriedly apologised once grabbed.
“Hand it over,” Li Feng said coldly. Trying to pick his pocket? The nerve.
“What thing?” The youth looked bewildered.
“You tell me.” Li Feng’s voice was frost.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. I just bumped into you by accident. I’ve already apologised. What more do you want?” the youth demanded.
“Hmph. No one has ever dared to steal from me. Are you going to give it back, or shall I take it myself?” Li Feng stared at him coldly.
