At the same moment, Tianya Pavilion.
A group of figures appeared at the entrance like ghosts. Leading them were Wu De and the young man at his side.
“Five minutes ago, a batch of people left Tianya Pavilion,” a middle-aged man reported to Wu De.
“I didn’t expect Tianya Pavilion still had forces to spare,” Wu De said, a trace of shock in his eyes. He truly had not thought the earlier rescue of Hu Yuanyuan represented Tianya Pavilion’s full strength. Then again, the first attack on Hu Yuanyuan had only involved a few assassins, so naturally it did not require many people. This time was different. With so many attackers now, Hu Yuanyuan’s side was clearly on the brink of collapse and needed reinforcements.
“But this works perfectly for Young Master Wu,” the youth smiled. He did not care how many people Tianya Pavilion had. In his view, he alone could deal with them all.
“Indeed. Heaven itself helps me,” Wu De laughed smugly and led his men towards the pavilion.
“What do you want?” Several guards at the entrance saw the large group approaching with murderous intent and their faces paled.
“The people who will kill you,” the youth beside Wu De answered. Before Wu De could speak, he slashed out. The guard who had spoken was instantly cut in two.
“Enemy attack…” The remaining guards froze for a moment before reacting. A shrill alarm immediately rang out.
Wu De watched with a cold smile and did not stop them. He needed the alarm to sound. Right now Tianya Pavilion’s forces were stretched thin; crushing them would be easy. But his goal was not simply to wipe them out. He wanted Li Feng to learn that Tianya Pavilion was under attack, forcing Li Feng to summon the Black Eagle battle team from their suburban training base.
Rat-tat-tat…
One figure after another rushed out from inside Tianya Pavilion.
Seeing them, Wu De felt no shock, only excitement. These were ordinary people. No matter how many there were, they were no match for his men. As expected, everyone with real strength from Tianya Pavilion had gone to rescue Hu Yuanyuan.
“Kill,” Wu De roared, pointing his blade forward. His men charged instantly.
In a flash, the entrance to Tianya Pavilion became a hell on earth.
Wu De watched with a cold smile. He relished the feeling; it was as though he held the world in his grasp.
While Wu De attacked Tianya Pavilion, on the fourth floor, in an office, the hawk-eyed junior leader Su Kou wore a grim expression. Li Feng, Zhong Shuhui, Xu Jie, and the others were all absent. The Black Eagle battle team and the elite Hawk-Eye sharpshooters had also left. Faced with these invaders, Tianya Pavilion’s remaining people stood no chance.
What should he do?
Su Kou paced anxiously, at a complete loss.
Rat-tat-tat…
Footsteps approached. A woman entered the office. When Su Kou turned and saw who it was, his expression changed. “Why are you here?”
“Has something happened to Tianya Pavilion?” the woman asked with a light laugh. It was none other than Mu Jiajia. She walked to the window, glanced outside, and smiled. “It looks like Tianya Pavilion is about to fall.”
“Mu Jiajia, are you gloating? Don’t forget you’re now part of Hawk-Eye too,” Su Kou said gravely. Mu Jiajia had only just been appointed deputy commander of Hawk-Eye by Zhong Shuhui. In theory, her rank was higher than his, but Su Kou knew her background and remained deeply wary of her.
Mu Jiajia gave a cold laugh but did not argue. When Zhong Shuhui had produced that object, she knew she had no choice. Still, seeing Tianya Pavilion attacked filled her with a certain satisfaction.
“Mu Jiajia, do you have any way to deal with the attack?” Su Kou asked seriously.
“Deal with it? What good idea could I possibly have? Isn’t Tianya Pavilion Li Feng’s? You can just phone him,” Mu Jiajia replied without hesitation.
“You…” Anger flashed in Su Kou’s eyes. He knew perfectly well that Li Feng was racing to save Hu Yuanyuan. Otherwise he would already have called him.
Mu Jiajia glanced at Su Kou with another cold laugh. She had long decided that even though she had now joined Hawk-Eye and become Li Feng’s subordinate, she would say nothing and offer no plans.
“Mu Jiajia, are you really going to stand by and do nothing?” Su Kou’s face darkened.
“What has it got to do with me?” Mu Jiajia laughed coldly, turned, and prepared to leave.
“You’re forcing my hand.”
A ruthless glint appeared in Su Kou’s eyes. He flung open the office window and shouted, “Hawk-Eye Deputy Commander Mu Jiajia is right here, you mongrels. Come and kill her if you dare!”
“You…” Mu Jiajia stopped dead, whirled around, and stared at Su Kou with icy eyes. “What do you mean by that?”
“What do I mean? Mu Jiajia, surely you understand. You forced me into this. I don’t know who sent these people, but since they’re here, their target is clear. Hawk-Eye belongs to Young Master Feng. They won’t let anyone from Hawk-Eye go, especially the deputy commander.”
Su Kou laughed coldly and continued, “And you, Mu Jiajia, are an exquisite beauty. Once these killers who slaughter without blinking see you, what do you think they’ll do?”
“You’re courting death,” Mu Jiajia snarled. Her figure flickered. In an instant she was in front of Su Kou, one hand clamped around his throat.
“Haha, Mu Jiajia, go ahead and kill me if you dare. Even if you do, those attackers won’t let you live,” Su Kou laughed loudly, showing no fear. He knew his own abilities were limited and he had no way to resist the invaders. His only hope lay with Mu Jiajia. As Fu Yanxiong’s former chief strategist, she might have a solution.
Since she refused to cooperate, he had no choice but to force her. He might offend her, but if she could resolve the crisis, offending her was worth it.
“You really think I won’t kill you?” Mu Jiajia’s gaze was frigid as she tightened her grip slightly.
Instantly Su Kou’s face turned deathly pale, the aura of death enveloping him. Yet his eyes remained resolute; he had no intention of begging for mercy.
Mu Jiajia snorted coldly and flung Su Kou to the floor. She knew killing him now would achieve nothing. As he had said, the only option was to deal with the immediate threat. Her own strength was considerable, but against so many attackers she would surely lose. If she did not act quickly, she would not even have a chance to escape.
Of course, Mu Jiajia still had one other choice: use her skill to slip away before the attackers reached the upper floors. She was confident few could stop her. But the moment she thought of the item Li Feng held over her, the consequences of leaving became unthinkable.
Mu Jiajia did not dare take the risk. She understood a little of Li Feng’s character. If he learned she had abandoned Tianya Pavilion now, he would never let her go.
“You win,” Mu Jiajia said, looking at Su Kou. She had never imagined she would one day be bested by such a minor figure.
Su Kou smiled. “Deputy Commander Mu, what plan do you have?”
“Immediately pull everyone back to the second floor. Shut down all lifts. Use the stairwells to hold them floor by floor and buy time,” Mu Jiajia said gravely. That was the only option now. As long as Zhong Shuhui and the others dealt with the attackers elsewhere and returned, they could counter-attack.
Yet a bad feeling stirred in Mu Jiajia’s heart. From the assault on Hu Yuanyuan to the attack on Tianya Pavilion now, could the enemy’s aim really be so simple?
She could not work it out, and more importantly, she did not want to think about it. Having only just betrayed Fu Yanxiong, she had no intention of offering Li Feng any strategies.
At the entrance to Tianya Pavilion.
Hearing Su Kou’s words, Wu De froze. “Mu Jiajia? Wasn’t she Fu Yanxiong’s woman? How is she here, and deputy commander of Hawk-Eye no less?”
Wu De knew that in Tianhai City, aside from Fengyuan Group, Li Feng controlled two forces: the Black Eagle battle team and Hawk-Eye. Though Hawk-Eye was secretive, those who sought the truth could uncover it. Wu De had long since investigated both.
If the Black Eagle team was the blade in Li Feng’s hand, then Hawk-Eye was his eyes. The deputy commander of Hawk-Eye was therefore one of the most crucial roles under Li Feng. Yet Wu De had never imagined Mu Jiajia in that position. Mu Jiajia had always been Fu Yanxiong’s closest confidante. Had she betrayed Fu Yanxiong? Or were Fu Yanxiong and Li Feng actually allies, not enemies?
Wu De narrowed his eyes, gave a cold laugh, and muttered to himself, “No matter which it is, nobody in Tianya Pavilion leaves here alive today. Even if Fu Yanxiong himself came, he would pay a heavy price.”
With that, he pointed his blade forward. “Brothers, follow me in. Leave no one alive!”
Riverside Road, the convenience store not far from the crossroads.
The fighting continued, but after Zhong Shuhui’s group linked up with the twenty Hawk-Eye sharpshooters who had arrived from Tianya Pavilion, the situation was no longer critical.
Still, Zhong Shuhui knew breaking out right now was impossible. Their people were still no match for the black-clothed attackers, especially these newly arrived sharpshooters whose strength fell far short of the Black Eagle team.
They could not break out, yet holding the store and awaiting rescue was more than feasible. With the additional sharpshooters, they now had enough manpower to defend both front and rear. The seriously wounded like Wang Jian and Cang Ying could finally rest.
But soon Zhong Shuhui noticed that although the black-clothed men continued their assault, the intensity had dropped noticeably.
What was going on?
Doubt rose in Zhong Shuhui’s mind. This was a city district. No matter how slowly the authorities reacted, they could not possibly wait until dawn to intervene. If these black-clothed men wanted to kill them, they needed to finish quickly. The current situation made no sense.
“Zhong Shuhui, I think they’re trying to pin us here,” Xu Jie said gravely after cutting down another attacker.
“Pin us here? What are they…” Before Zhong Shuhui could finish, her expression changed dramatically.
