“Eldest Miss, what do we do now?” Chang He asked.
If it were anyone else, he could have used his sniper rifle to take them out, but this was Wei Kang. He hadn’t even tried, because Wei Kang was a peak Ninth Level Postnatal ancient martial artist with extremely sharp danger perception. Killing him would be incredibly difficult.
Moreover, Wei Kang belonged to the Wei family, an influential clan. Even the Zhu family would not dare to casually kill a Wei.
At the same time, Chang He was curious. Blood Shadow had used Wei Kang, and he wondered how Zhu Yuanyang planned to hit back. He himself could think of no way to retaliate against Blood Shadow.
“Chang He, do you think Wei Kang can kill Li Feng?” Zhu Yuanyang did not answer his question but asked one of her own instead. Earlier she had ordered Chang He to kill Han Yuxia precisely to force Blood Shadow’s hand, yet she had never expected Blood Shadow’s trump card to be Wei Kang. Just as Chang He thought, she could not possibly order Wei Kang’s death.
Wei Kang was a peak Ninth Level Postnatal expert. If Li Feng died at Wei Kang’s hands, it would be the same as dying by the Zhu family’s hands. Her goal today was to have Li Feng dead without linking it back to the Zhu family, but Wei Kang’s appearance had completely ruined that plan.
“This… I don’t know,” Chang He shook his head. In the past he would have said without hesitation that once Wei Kang met Li Feng, Li Feng was as good as dead. But now it was different. He had personally witnessed Li Feng trading blows with Wei Kang on equal terms.
It was unbelievable, yet he had to believe it.
In other words, Li Feng possessed Ninth Level Postnatal strength.
Li Feng was about the same age as him. Even with training from childhood, no one should be this strong.
“Li Feng’s strength has increased far too quickly,” Zhu Yuanyang said, a trace of shock flashing through her eyes. Previously she had feared Li Feng because a Xiantian realm expert protected him, but she had never imagined Li Feng himself was this powerful. From the last incident at the Imperial Hotel until now, how had his strength grown so fast?
If Li Feng were her ally, she would rejoice at his power. But he was not.
At this moment, Zhu Yuanyang’s resolve to kill him hardened even further. Since reconciliation was impossible, she would eliminate the threat while it was still in the cradle.
“Chang He, I’m going to force Blood Shadow out into the open. There’s something I need you to do right now.” Zhu Yuanyang explained her plan.
Chang He’s eyes lit up. “Eldest Miss, rest assured, I will definitely…”
Before he could finish, his phone rang. He froze, answered it, listened for a moment, then said gravely, “Eldest Miss, we just received news. A group is currently attacking Tianya Pavilion.”
“Attacking Tianya Pavilion?” Zhu Yuanyang was stunned. Who would attack Tianya Pavilion at a time like this? Could it be Blood Shadow?
She shook her head. That possibility seemed almost nil. Most of Tianya Pavilion’s people were here right now. Attacking an almost empty base served no purpose.
“It seems that besides us, another force is also moving against Li Feng tonight,” Zhu Yuanyang said with a cold laugh, instantly realising another possibility.
“Another force?” Chang He drew a deep breath and said solemnly, “How did they know we were acting tonight? Who leaked it to them?”
Tonight’s assault on Hu Yuanyuan had been planned entirely by him. Apart from Zhu Yuanyang, even the assassins he dispatched knew nothing of the full picture. If Blood Shadow had learned of it because he was targeting Li Feng and watching their people, how had this other force found out?
“It might be coincidence, or there might be another reason, but either way, this is good news for us,” Zhu Yuanyang said thoughtfully, her eyes brightening.
“You mean…” Chang He asked, slightly puzzled.
“Chang He, forget the task I just gave you. For now, we sit back and watch,” Zhu Yuanyang said in a low voice.
“Sit back and watch?” Chang He was taken aback, not quite understanding her intention.
Outside the convenience store.
The moment Li Feng appeared at the crossroads, Zhong Shuhui, who was leading everyone in a breakout, spotted him instantly. Yet instead of joy, her heart grew heavier.
She also noticed that once they charged out of the store, the black-clothed operatives’ attacks became far more ferocious, confirming her suspicion: these people had wanted to pin them inside the store.
Even seeing Li Feng slaughter two entire squads did nothing to lighten her mood. And then Wei Kang appeared, proving her fears correct. A true expert had indeed been waiting for Li Feng.
Zhong Shuhui wondered whether these black-clothed men were using them as bait for Li Feng, or whether they had some other purpose. She could not guess, but whatever the truth, she refused to play their game.
So she led the remaining Black Hawk squad members in a desperate counter-attack against the black-clothed operatives. Han Yuxia’s sudden death by sniper fire left the enemy leaderless, allowing Zhong Shuhui’s group to finally break out of the store.
But the black-clothed men quickly reorganised and launched a frenzied counter-assault, trying to force them back inside. Zhong Shuhui naturally refused to comply and fought them tooth and nail in a battle to the death.
What she did not notice was that several hundred metres away, two black-clothed figures carrying a suitcase were sprinting towards the convenience store.
At the crossroads.
Wei Kang was forced back several steps by the shockwave before he steadied himself. He stared at Li Feng, a trace of shock in his eyes, and snorted coldly. “What blade technique was that?”
“The one that will kill you,” Li Feng replied icily.
Wei Kang’s gaze turned frigid. “It seems I underestimated you. So young, yet you possess such a formidable blade technique.”
“Wei Kang, leave now and I’ll spare your life.” From their earlier exchange, Li Feng had gauged Wei Kang’s strength. He was confident he could kill him, but it would take some effort.
“Hmph.”
Wei Kang snorted arrogantly. “Leave? Li Feng, I won’t leave today until you’re dead.”
“Very well. Then let’s fight,” Li Feng said coldly, circulating the true qi within his body.
“Li Feng, I’ll make you understand the gap very clear gap between us.” Wei Kang laughed coldly, his face twisting ferociously. He refused to believe that with his peak Ninth Level Postnatal strength he could lose to Li Feng.
Hum!
Wei Kang stepped forward, his aura surging violently. A blue glow erupted from his body as he slashed with his broadsword.
Swish, swish, swish…
In an instant he unleashed hundreds of blade strikes. The blue energies wove together into a gigantic net carrying terrifying power as it swept towards Li Feng.
Boom, boom, boom…
The fierce wind from the blade energies shot outwards like rain, slicing apart flowers, plants, and trees in the roadside flowerbeds.
“Impressive blade work.”
Li Feng’s eyes narrowed. Wei Kang’s technique was nearly on par with his own Universe Blade Technique. This was the first time he had encountered someone with such formidable blade skill.
Li Feng stepped forward and slashed instantly with his own sword.
Swish!
In the blink of an eye he sent out four strikes, each carrying immense energy, tearing the blade net apart with thunderous force.
Seeing this, Wei Kang’s expression changed to one of horror. His blade technique was renowned for its speed and ruthlessness. Ever since he began training, no one had ever surpassed him in blade skill, yet now Li Feng’s technique far exceeded his own. How could he not be shocked?
Was this Li Feng’s true strength?
Fury flashed in Wei Kang’s eyes, and raging jealousy ignited in his heart. He had trained for nearly thirty years to reach his current level, while Li Feng was barely in his twenties. How could Li Feng possess superior blade skill?
Wei Kang channelled all his true qi. His broadsword released a blue blade energy that shot towards Li Feng like an arrow.
Li Feng advanced instead of retreating, slashing once and shattering the incoming energy.
Wei Kang’s face darkened. His sword continued to strike relentlessly, wave after wave of blade energies crashing towards Li Feng like a storm.
Li Feng gave a cold laugh. His own sword trembled, sending out blade energies that blocked every attack.
Both men wielded blade techniques. Locked in combat, they displayed their full prowess. Blade qi raged around them, carving shocking gashes into the ground. Piercing whistles and explosive booms rang out incessantly.
“Li Feng, surrender now and I might leave you an intact corpse,” Wei Kang said coldly as he unleashed another blue blade energy.
Li Feng slashed the energy apart and laughed coldly. “Wei Kang, the one dying today will be you, not me.”
Wei Kang sneered. “Li Feng, if you don’t die, Hu Yuanyuan and the others will. Do you want to watch them die with your own eyes?” As he spoke, his attacks grew even fiercer.
Li Feng’s gaze turned icy. While fending off the onslaught he replied, “I won’t die today, and neither will Hu Yuanyuan and the others.”
“Haha, Li Feng, oh Li Feng. Hu Yuanyuan and her people don’t have your strength. Do you really think they can hold out much longer?”
Wei Kang laughed coldly. “Even if they do, what does it matter? One bomb is enough to send them all to the afterlife.”
“What did you say?” Li Feng’s expression changed.
A bomb? They had prepared a bomb for today’s attack on Hu Yuanyuan? He had expected a few guns, but a bomb was different. Even a Xiantian realm expert might not survive a bomb unscathed.
“What, didn’t hear me clearly? Don’t worry. Although you are definitely going to die today, before you do, you’ll get to watch your woman and your subordinates die horribly right in front of you.” Wei Kang gloated.
Li Feng’s voice turned chilling. “Then I’ll send you to the afterlife first.”
