Looking at the blood pooled at the entrance of Tianya Pavilion, Li Feng’s expression turned ice-cold.
“Young Master Feng.”
Two figures appeared at his side. It was the Blood Kill Twin Eagles.
“Let’s go in.” A murderous glint flashed through Li Feng’s eyes. Although his current strength was less than one-tenth of his peak, his divine sense remained intact. With it, he had already “seen” the attackers inside Tianya Pavilion.
“Yes.” The Blood Kill Twin Eagles immediately followed behind him.
“What do you think you’re doing?” Just as they reached the entrance, two burly men suddenly appeared and blocked Li Feng’s path.
“Kill them,” Li Feng said expressionlessly, the two words falling like frost.
Swish!
Blood Eagle’s figure flickered. The two men collapsed into pools of blood.
Li Feng stepped over them and walked inside.
“Who’s there?”
The sound of footsteps alerted those within. One burly man after another appeared before Li Feng and his companions.
“Who are you?” A middle-aged man stepped forward and stared coldly at Li Feng.
“My name is Li Feng,” he replied calmly.
“What?” The middle-aged man’s expression changed. He quickly instructed the man beside him, who nodded and ran deeper inside.
“And who are you?” Li Feng asked the middle-aged man, his voice cold.
“I never expected you to be Li Feng himself. Haha, you’ve finally walked straight into the trap.” The middle-aged man burst into laughter.
“Hmph. Walking into a trap? We’ll see who dies tonight,” Li Feng sneered.
“Haha, Li Feng, are you joking? You think you can kill us?” the middle-aged man laughed even louder.
“Slap him,” Li Feng said coldly, two words once more.
Swish!
Kill Eagle’s figure vanished and reappeared beside the middle-aged man. His hand lashed out.
Smack!
A crisp sound rang out. A clear palm print bloomed on the middle-aged man’s face.
By then, Kill Eagle was already back at Li Feng’s side.
“You…” The middle-aged man stared in disbelief. He had not even seen who struck him.
“Tell me who you work for. Do that, and I might let you keep a whole corpse,” Li Feng said, his gaze icy.
“Li Feng, you’re courting death,” the middle-aged man roared, fury blazing in his eyes.
Li Feng gave a contemptuous laugh. “I’m right here. If you have the ability, come and kill me.”
“Get him!” the middle-aged man bellowed in rage, pointing at Li Feng. “Kill him!”
“Kill!”
The moment the words left his mouth, four or five burly men charged, machetes swinging, clearly intent on hacking Li Feng to pieces.
“Kill them,” Li Feng said coldly once again.
“Yes.” Blood Eagle answered, then shot forward like a phantom. Sword rose and fell. Blood sprayed.
Thud, thud, thud…
One man after another was sent flying by the blood-coloured shadow, crashing heavily to the ground, lifeless.
“You… you… you…” The middle-aged man stared at Li Feng in horror. He could never have imagined Li Feng’s subordinates were this terrifying. In less than thirty seconds, four or five of his men lay dead.
“Who do you serve? Will you speak or not?” Li Feng asked coldly. If he did not want to learn the identity of the mastermind, the middle-aged man would already be dead.
Tap, tap, tap…
At that moment, the sound of footsteps approached.
Li Feng looked up. His pupils contracted. “So it’s you, Young Master Wu. I was wondering who would be this bold.”
Wu De!
Li Feng had never imagined the person before him would be Wu De. Did that mean the attack on Tianya Pavilion was his doing? Then the ambush on Hu Yuanyuan and the others… was that also Wu De?
“Li Feng, you’ve got some nerve, killing my men,” Wu De said, glancing at the corpses in their pools of blood. Cold light flashed in his eyes.
“I’ve got nerve?” Li Feng gave a cold laugh. “Young Master Wu, the one with nerve is you. You actually dared to try to kill my people.”
Li Feng had suspected many people: Blood Shadow of the Hongmen, Qin Feng, Li Wu, Zhu Yuanyang, even the Imperial Pavilion or the four great families of Tianhai City. Yet never once had he considered Wu De.
Although there was enmity between them, it had never reached this level. No matter how petty and vindictive Wu De might be, he would not normally pay such an enormous price just to deal with Li Feng.
So why was Wu De doing this? What did he stand to gain?
Li Feng could not work it out, and he had no intention of thinking about it right now.
“Kill your people? Li Feng, tonight I’m not just after your people,” Wu De sneered. “Tell me, is Hu Yuanyuan dead yet?”
“So the incident on Binhe Road is connected to you?” Li Feng’s brow arched, his gaze turning murderous.
Wu De smiled with disbelief. He saw this as the perfect chance to crush Li Feng. Whether Hu Yuanyuan lived or died, being attacked by so many black-clad assailants was already a heavy blow to Li Feng. In Wu De’s view, there was no way she could have survived unscathed.
Li Feng’s face was like frost. Wu De’s attitude convinced him that the ambush on Hu Yuanyuan’s group had indeed been orchestrated by Wu De. Otherwise, how could everything be so perfectly timed? Hu Yuanyuan attacked at the Binhe Road junction, and at the same moment Wu De led men to assault Tianya Pavilion?
At this thought, towering killing intent surged within Li Feng.
“Li Feng, you seem rather angry,” Wu De said, a triumphant glint in his eyes. The last time at the resort hotel and New Century Plaza, Li Feng had been insufferably arrogant before him. From that moment, Wu De had sworn to humiliate Li Feng utterly. Now, at last, the opportunity had come.
“Yes, I am angry.”
Li Feng stared at Wu De and spoke gravely. “In all my time in this world, I have never suffered a loss like tonight’s. Young Master Wu, I must admit you are the most cunning opponent I have ever met.”
He thought of Qin Feng, of Fu Yanxiong. Both had schemed against him before, yet compared to Wu De their methods were child’s play. Even Zhu Yuanyang, who had framed him for Chen Haotian’s murder, was merely on the same level.
“You’ve never met anyone capable before because everyone you faced was trash,” Wu De sneered. “If you had met me earlier, no matter how strong you were, how skilled in combat, how noble your status, you would never have been my match. In my eyes, everything you’ve achieved, Li Feng, comes from the Li family. Without the title of Li family young master, you would be less than an ordinary person.”
“Is that so? I never realised I was so worthless in Young Master Wu’s eyes.”
Li Feng’s tone was calm, but beneath that calm burned a volcano of rage. “Then what are you, Wu De? The Wu family is merely a first-rate family, probably not even equal to our Li family. Do you think the young master of the Wu family is worth more than the young master of the Li family? In my eyes, a first-rate family is the one that’s truly worthless.”
“Hmph. Sooner or later the Wu family will become a peak family,” Wu De said coldly.
“Will it? Even if the Wu family becomes a peak family, it will only be the ninth peak family,” Li Feng laughed derisively. Peak family? He knew the origins of the eight true peak families. Each possessed an ancestor who had reached the Tianwu realm. That was true heritage. No matter how strong the Wu family became, it would never have such foundations.
“You…” Wu De glared at Li Feng in fury. He knew Li Feng was right. Even if the Wu family rose to peak status, it could only ever be ninth, for it lacked the power to displace any of the eight great peak families.
“Li Feng, I never expected your tongue to be so sharp. However…” Wu De gave a cold laugh. “Do you know why I haven’t slaughtered everyone in Tianya Pavilion yet?”
“Oh? Why?” Li Feng’s heart stirred. This had puzzled him too. Apart from Mu Jiajia, everyone currently inside was an ordinary person. Given Wu De’s status, he surely had no shortage of experts. Taking Tianya Pavilion completely should not have been difficult.
“Because I was waiting for you,” Wu De said with a cold smile.
“Waiting for me?”
“Exactly. Waiting for you to walk straight into the net,” Wu De laughed. “Otherwise, do you think Mu Jiajia and the others could have held out against my forces? Most of the people from Tianya Pavilion have already gone to rescue Hu Yuanyuan. Still, Li Feng, I must admit I’m rather impressed. You actually managed to pull Mu Jiajia away from Fu Yanxiong to work for you.”
“Walk into the net?” Li Feng sneered in disdain. “Wu De, you don’t really believe these pieces of trash under your command can keep me here, do you?”
“Whether we can keep you or not, you’ll find out very soon. But Li Feng, I have prepared a special gift just for you,” Wu De said, smiling at him.
“A gift?” Li Feng’s brow furrowed. An ominous feeling rose within him.
“Indeed. By my calculations, it’s about time,” Wu De said smugly. “If I’m not mistaken, when you received news of the attack on Tianya Pavilion, you ordered your Black Hawk Squad to rush here, didn’t you?”
“Yes. Once they arrive, it will be your doom,” Li Feng said coldly.
“Doom?” Wu De threw his head back and laughed for a long while before finally stopping. He stared coldly at Li Feng. “Do you really think your Black Hawk Squad will ever reach this place?”
“So your scheme was aimed at my Black Hawk Squad as well?” Li Feng’s eyes narrowed, cold light flashing within them.
“Precisely. By now, the Black Hawk Squad training at the suburban base has probably been completely wiped out. Once I kill you, everything that belongs to you, Li Feng, will be mine,” Wu De said, laughing triumphantly, his voice thick with glee.
“Is that so?”
Li Feng’s voice turned forest-cold. “Unfortunately, the one who will die tonight is not me. It’s you.”
