“You? Haha, Li Feng, do you really think that’s possible?” Wu De laughed as if he had heard the funniest joke in the world. He thought Li Feng was utterly delusional. Did he still not understand the situation? Him killing Li Feng? He should count himself lucky if he wasn’t the one killed.
“Nothing is impossible in this world. Wu De, do you think the people around you can stop me?” Li Feng’s voice was chilling.
Scheming. It was all scheming.
Li Feng had never imagined that Wu De’s real purpose in attacking Tianya Pavilion was to target the Black Hawk Squad members training at the suburban base. Earlier, during the fierce battle with the black-clad assailants, he had realised his own strength was no longer sufficient to deal with the attackers here, so he had asked Zhong Shuhui to summon the squad from the training base. He never thought it was a trap from the very beginning.
By now, if nothing unexpected had happened, the Black Hawk Squad should already have reached Tianya Pavilion. Since they had not arrived, it was obvious they had indeed been ambushed.
He could picture it: the squad had walked straight into Wu De’s encirclement. Anyone Wu De sent to ambush them would be far from weak. Most Black Hawk members were currently only at the first or second layer of the Houtian realm. A few experts at the third or fourth layer would be enough to slaughter them all.
Anxiety burned in Li Feng’s heart, yet he was powerless to help. Tianya Pavilion was in the city centre while the training base lay in the suburbs. Even if he rushed there now, he might not arrive in time. Almost half an hour had passed since he told Zhong Shuhui to call them.
“Haha, Li Feng, right now you only have yourself and two subordinates. Do you really think the three of you are a match for all of us?” Wu De laughed loudly. When he arrived earlier, he had not seen the Blood Kill Twin Eagles take action. Although Li Feng’s side had killed a few of his men, he considered it nothing serious.
“Li Feng, I assume you went to Binhe Road to save Hu Yuanyuan and the others, didn’t you?” Wu De looked at Li Feng with a cold smile. “I know you’re very strong. Even Young Master Jiang was no match for you. But judging by the blood on your clothes, you must have gone through a bitter battle just now. Your true qi must be almost completely depleted. Do you really think you still have any fighting strength left?”
Li Feng narrowed his eyes and said icily, “So you really did plan for every possibility.”
“Haha, this isn’t mere scheming. This is strategy,” Wu De laughed. “Before this, you blocked many ill-intentioned people for the sake of Fengyuan Group, including several peak families. Everyone thought you were incredibly strong, but in my view that was only because those people didn’t know how to plan or use their brains. Against someone like you, all it takes is a little thought. No matter how skilled you are in martial arts, you can never escape my meticulous arrangements.”
“Well said. Very well said, Young Master Wu. I’ve witnessed your strategy,” Li Feng replied, a cold glint flashing in his eyes. From the attack on Hu Yuanyuan, to the appearance of Wei Kang at peak ninth-layer Houtian, to the assault on Tianya Pavilion, and now the ambush on the Black Hawk Squad. Every step had been laid with terrifying precision.
If he had been killed by the bomb at the Binhe Road junction, or slain or gravely wounded by Wei Kang, then all Wu De needed to do was wipe out the Black Hawk Squad and seize Tianya Pavilion. Everything Li Feng had painstakingly built in Tianhai City would vanish like smoke.
Even though he had survived the bomb, blocked Wei Kang’s attack, and eliminated the black-clad assailants on Binhe Road, his true qi was now almost exhausted. He no longer had the strength to turn the tide. Wu De’s plan would still succeed.
Moreover, Wu De and his men were simply waiting for the rabbit at the tree stump.
Li Feng had to admit the enemy’s plan had worked. From killing Wei Kang to being injured by the explosion, he now had virtually no strength left to fight. Even knowing the Black Hawk Squad was under attack, he was powerless to save them.
Yet Wu De could never have guessed that Li Feng still held one final trump card: the Blood Kill Twin Eagles. Two seventh-layer Houtian experts whose combined technique could contend against a ninth-layer Houtian master. And although Li Feng himself could no longer fight hand-to-hand, he still possessed his divine gun arts, honed to perfection.
The reason he had insisted on coming to Tianya Pavilion despite everything was precisely because of those gun arts. Inside his spatial pouch waited a plentiful supply of firearms and ammunition. That was his true reliance.
At the same time, he secretly rejoiced that he had not revealed his gun arts during the fight at the Binhe Road junction. Otherwise Wu De would surely have prepared countermeasures, and dealing with him now would have been far more troublesome.
What truly shocked Li Feng was Wu De’s cunning mind. All along he had thought Wu De was nothing more than an arrogant, overbearing playboy. Yet tonight’s actions completely overturned that impression. Such intricate plotting was not the work of a mere spoiled young master.
Li Feng smiled bitterly inside. This was the price of underestimating an enemy, and the price was enormous. The Black Hawk Squad, the Eagle Eye Elites, himself, Zhong Shuhui, Xu Jie, Hu Yuanyuan. Every one of them was wounded. Had he not killed Wei Kang at the junction, none of them would have survived.
“Haha, Li Feng, you really are slow on the uptake. Only now do you finally understand,” Wu De laughed loudly. “Yes, when the sun rises tomorrow, I, Wu De, will replace you in Tianhai City and become the power second only to the four great families. Do you know why I waited here for you?”
Without waiting for Li Feng to answer, Wu De extended his hand to a subordinate beside him. The man immediately handed over a document.
“Li Feng, if you want to keep a whole corpse, sign this,” Wu De said coldly.
“What is it?” Li Feng’s pupils contracted as he asked in a low voice.
“A transfer agreement,” Wu De replied with a triumphant smile.
“Transfer agreement?” Li Feng paused, then instantly understood. He stared coldly at Wu De. “You want my Fengyuan Group?”
“Exactly,” Wu De nodded and sneered. “Fengyuan Group. You’re going to die anyway. The company is useless to a dead man. You might as well give it to me. Don’t worry, after you’re dead I’ll have people burn paper money for you so you can be a rich ghost in the afterlife.”
“Haha, Wu De, you really know how to calculate,” Li Feng said, murderous intent surging within him as he stared at Wu De.
“Li Feng, will you sign this transfer agreement or not?” Wu De asked coldly. As long as Li Feng signed, Wu De could legitimately take control of Fengyuan Group. Otherwise there might be some trouble later. He was not afraid of trouble, but if he could settle everything smoothly now, there was no need to wait for complications.
“Heh heh, Wu De, do you think I would sign this?” Li Feng laughed coldly.
“If you don’t sign, I’ll cut you into ten thousand pieces,” Wu De said, ruthlessness flashing in his eyes.
“Ten thousand pieces?” Li Feng gave another cold laugh and turned to the Blood Kill Twin Eagles. “Someone wants to cut me into ten thousand pieces. What do you think about that?”
“Then he deserves to die.” Before Blood Eagle even finished speaking, he was already charging towards Wu De.
“Courting death.” The young man beside Wu De changed expression and threw a fierce punch. Terrifying fist force roared forth.
Boom!
With a huge explosion of sound, Blood Eagle’s body swayed slightly while the youth staggered back several steps, spitting a mouthful of blood.
“How is this possible?” The youth stared at Blood Eagle in disbelief. He had not expected the man beside Li Feng to be this strong. Although he had not used his full strength just now, Blood Eagle had merely swayed under the blow. The youth realised that even at full power he would probably not be this man’s match.
Wu De was equally shocked and uneasy. He had never imagined Li Feng still had such powerful experts at his side. Even the strongest expert he had brought. This youth. Was no match for them. He had brought many experts to Tianhai City this time, but most had been sent to ambush the Black Hawk Squad. He had few left with him now, and this youth was the strongest among them. If even he was no match, could they still kill Li Feng tonight?
Could it be that when Li Feng was dealing with those black-clad men at the junction, he and his men had been holding back? Otherwise how could they still possess such terrifying strength?
Or… perhaps they were already at the end of their rope, and that last attack had been their full power, merely meant to intimidate?
The more Wu De thought about it, the more likely it seemed. After all, they had just been through a huge battle. No ancient martial practitioner could recover so quickly.
“Kill him!” Wu De retreated several steps, putting distance between himself and Blood Eagle, then shouted to his remaining men.
“Kill!” Several burly men roared and charged at Blood Eagle with raised machetes.
A cold smile flashed in Blood Eagle’s eyes. He gave his long sword a light flick. Several sword rays shot through the air.
Pfft!
The sword rays were lightning-fast. They instantly reached the charging men. The ones in front were struck, their bodies torn open, blood spraying from their mouths as they flew backwards.
Li Feng watched with a cold smile. Blood Eagle was at the seventh layer of the Houtian realm. These men were no match for him. The youth from earlier had surprised him a little. Peak fourth-layer Houtian. Among the younger generation, that youth could be considered strong.
“Wu De, are these pieces of trash all you have?” Li Feng asked with a cold smile.
“Li Feng, don’t get arrogant. I said I would kill you tonight, and I will,” Wu De replied, his face dark. The strength of Li Feng’s subordinates had exceeded his expectations, but it was only a surprise. He had prepared many methods to deal with Li Feng tonight.
“Is that so? Unfortunately, you won’t have the chance.” Li Feng laughed coldly. Two pistols appeared in his hands. He pulled the triggers.
