Worried that Feng Ling’er had nothing to eat at the training base, Li Feng stopped by a grocery store to buy some food after parting with Liu Shichao, then drove to the base.
On the way, he received a call from Wang Yilong.
“Hey, Wang Yilong, what’s up?” Li Feng answered.
Wang Yilong’s voice came through, “Master Feng, you free tonight? Want to hit the KTV? It’s been a while since we hung out.”
“Oh, is that so?” Li Feng paused, then said, “Alright, how about our usual spot?”
He frowned. Wang Yilong was Sun Xipeng’s lackey, not a good guy. Calling out of the blue likely meant something was up. Was Sun Xipeng planning revenge? After Li Feng had taught him a lesson last time, it wouldn’t be surprising. If it was Sun Xipeng, Li Feng didn’t mind playing along to settle the score for his predecessor’s bullying.
“Cool, it’s settled then,” Wang Yilong said.
“No problem,” Li Feng replied.
“Alright, see you there.” Wang Yilong hung up.
At the training base, Li Feng stored the raw stones in the storage room, then took the food to Feng Ling’er’s rest room.
Entering, he saw her leaning on the sofa, reading. Hearing the door, she turned and said, “You’re back.”
“Yeah,” Li Feng nodded, looking at her, “Why are you up?”
“I’ve been lying in bed all day, got bored, so I grabbed a book,” Feng Ling’er replied.
After a day of rest, her complexion was better than yesterday, though still pale, not as weak.
“Oh,” Li Feng nodded, “How’s your wound?”
“Feeling better,” she nodded back.
“I brought some fast food, compressed biscuits, instant noodles. Eat what you like,” he said.
“Okay,” Feng Ling’er replied softly, her gaze softer than before, less cold, with an indescribable warmth.
“There’s gauze and Yunnan Baiyao in the medical kit. You need to change your dressing soon. Want help?” Li Feng asked.
Change her dressing?
Feng Ling’er blushed, recalling yesterday’s incident.
“Shall we change it now?” Li Feng asked eagerly, his eyes lingering on her chest, swallowing hard.
“Hmph, I can do it myself,” she snorted, glaring at him warily.
Li Feng muttered, “It’s not like I haven’t touched it before.”
“What did you say?” Feng Ling’er snapped, annoyed.
“Nothing. Change it yourself, I’ve got things to do,” Li Feng said, fearing he’d give in to temptation if he stayed, and quickly left.
Watching his flustered retreat, Feng Ling’er let out a soft laugh.
Leaving the rest room, Li Feng went to the training ground for his daily routine: body refinement.
Though he’d been cultivating, he was stuck at the fifth level of body refinement. He knew breaking through to the sixth required a catalyst.
Today, after practicing the Mysterious Heaven Body Refining Technique, a sudden clarity hit him. Stunned, a surge of joy crossed his face.
The bottleneck for the sixth level had shifted.
Without hesitation, he sat cross-legged, rapidly circulating the Nine Heavens Heart Sutra, aiming for the breakthrough.
Guiding his internal energy along the sutra’s paths, he formed energy vortexes in his body, positioning them per the technique, then detonated them.
Boom!
His body shook, and he opened his eyes.
Sixth level of body refinement, achieved.
The breakthrough was so smooth, so sudden, that Li Feng’s joy was overwhelming. He’d thought it would take days, but it happened today.
The sixth level meant 2,000 kilograms of strength, a qualitative leap.
Suppressing his excitement, he knew his realm wasn’t stable yet.
Continuing the Nine Heavens Heart Sutra, he solidified the sixth level before stopping.
This breakthrough came from accumulated effort. Recent herbal concoctions, refined over centuries, had strengthened his body and soul, making the breakthrough natural when the time came.
His cultivation lasted hours, and by nightfall, Li Feng slowly concluded, opening his eyes.
Leaping up, he threw punches, each strike echoing with explosive force. Like a fierce tiger, he exuded an aura of unmatched dominance.
After finishing his military boxing, he paused, his half-closed eyes flashing with sharp light, piercing the void.
“Sixth level, truly powerful,” he thought.
Even without true energy, his strength nearly matched his past life’s peak. Though prepared, he hadn’t expected body refinement to yield such power, suggesting he’d taken the wrong path before.
Excitement surged. If the sixth level was this strong, what about the tenth? Or after cultivating true energy?
He longed to reach the tenth level immediately but knew cultivation required steady steps.
Checking the time, it was time for his meeting with Wang Yilong. After a shower, Li Feng left the base.
The KTV, named “Heaven on Earth,” was cliché. Arriving as it opened, neon lights glowed faintly, marking the start of Tianhai City’s nightlife.
Li Feng was familiar with the place. His predecessor frequented it, brought by Li Quan, where he met Sun Xipeng and Wang Yilong. Their intentions were never kind, leaving bad memories.
Entering, a doorman who knew him as the “loser” bullied by rich kids merely snorted, offering no greeting.
Li Feng didn’t care. Such snobbish staff were common, and he ignored them.
Inside, loud music filled the air. Men and women danced under flashing lights, shedding their daytime roles—white-collar, blue-collar, or gold-collar—revealing their true selves.
Scanning the hall, Li Feng didn’t see Wang Yilong and frowned. Since Wang invited him, he should be waiting, but where was he?
Perhaps in a private room?
Heaven on Earth had many rooms, but searching each one was impractical.
Li Feng sent Wang Yilong a WeChat message. Wang replied quickly, saying he was tied up and to wait, he’d come soon.
Li Feng’s frown deepened, tempted to leave. Wasting time here was less appealing than training.
Just then, a mocking voice rang out, “Well, if it isn’t Master Feng? What brings you to Heaven on Earth? I thought big shots like you wouldn’t bother.”
Li Feng turned to see a young man in a suit approaching, his gaze turning cold. This guy was a sycophant, always currying favour with Sun Xipeng. Once, when Li Feng was bullied by Sun’s group in a private room, this man had joined in to please them.
“Talking to me?” Li Feng asked, unpleasant memories surfacing, though he didn’t stoop to this small fry’s level.
“Who else? Calling you Master Feng doesn’t make you a real big shot like Master Sun,” the man sneered. Unaware of Li Feng’s true identity, he saw him as a nobody, especially since Li Feng took Sun’s bullying silently, and spoke without restraint.
Li Feng smiled, “What do you want?”
“Hmph, don’t play dumb,” the man snorted, swinging a slap at Li Feng.
“What are you doing?” Li Feng sidestepped slightly. The man, caught off guard, stumbled and fell.
“Help me up!” he shouted angrily.
“Help you up?” Li Feng crouched beside him, staring coldly, “Who do you think you are, ordering me to help you?”
“You…” The man, furious, threw a punch.
Li Feng’s eyes flashed coldly. He grabbed the man’s arm, saying icily, “What are you trying to do?”
