“What’s wrong? Feeling upset?”
Li Feng entered the president’s office, saw Hu Yuanyuan standing by the floor-to-ceiling window with a grim expression, and spoke with a chuckle.
“The company’s been pushed to the brink. Do you think I can be happy?” Hu Yuanyuan said flatly.
“It’s only temporary. Let them gloat for a few days. They’ll regret it soon enough. No need to worry,” Li Feng said, stepping beside her, looking at her gently.
Hu Yuanyuan wore a pristine white blouse, a black knee-length pleated skirt, and her slender legs were clad in black stockings and high heels. She stood elegantly, serene, untainted, exuding a refined, mature aura, like a blooming lotus in its prime, delicately radiant.
“Alright, this is both a crisis and an opportunity. After this, Xiangfeng Investment Company can become one of Tianhai City’s top hundred, a world-class company.”
Li Feng smiled, “Even if we fail, with our abilities, we can rise again.”
“You’re quite optimistic.”
“No reason not to be. Victory is certain,” Li Feng said, glancing at her. “But you, if you keep frowning, you won’t look pretty. Be careful, or you’ll turn into an old lady, and I won’t want you. I don’t want my woman becoming an old hag.”
“Who wants you to want me?”
Hu Yuanyuan looked at him, smiled slightly, then blushed, realising he called her his woman.
“Let’s go. It’s getting late. Time to head home.”
Li Feng laughed, reaching for her delicate hand. Touching her soft, fair fingers, he felt a stir.
“I can walk myself,” Hu Yuanyuan glared at him. “Trying to take advantage of me? Not that easy.” She swayed her hips and walked ahead.
Soon, they returned to the villa. The servants were surprised to see Li Feng and Hu Yuanyuan, usually at odds, returning together so amicably.
“Li Feng, Sun Xipeng’s backer hasn’t shown themselves. Maybe they don’t intend to. Waiting longer isn’t the answer,” Hu Yuanyuan said as they walked to the hall after getting out of the car.
“That’s possible. We need to draw them out,” Li Feng said.
“You have a plan?” Hu Yuanyuan asked.
“Yes. Tomorrow, hold a press conference and announce we’re seeking investment,” Li Feng said with a cold smirk. “I bet they won’t stay hidden.”
“Seeking investment?” Hu Yuanyuan paused, catching his meaning but concerned. With Smart One, many venture capitalists were eyeing Xiangfeng. What if it spiraled out of control?
“Exactly. If they still don’t show, we won’t wait. We’ll take down Sun Xipeng’s Sun Group first,” Li Feng said.
“Alright, let’s do it,” Hu Yuanyuan nodded, voicing her concerns.
“Easy to handle, don’t worry…”
Before Li Feng finished, Hu Yuanyuan yelped.
While talking to him, she misstepped on the stairs.
Li Feng, startled, rushed forward, grabbed her slender waist, and asked anxiously, “Hu Yuanyuan, are you okay? Where did you hurt yourself?”
“I… I’m fine. I might have twisted my ankle,” Hu Yuanyuan said, her face pale.
“I’ll carry you inside,” Li Feng said.
“This…” Hu Yuanyuan hesitated, but the pain made standing impossible, so she nodded.
Li Feng scooped her up and carried her to the hall.
In the hall, he set her on the sofa and grabbed her foot.
“Li Feng, what are you doing?” Hu Yuanyuan asked.
“Checking how bad it is.”
Li Feng gently lifted her leg, then pressed firmly with his fist at the swollen spot. A “crack” sounded, and Hu Yuanyuan cried out.
“Ah! That hurts!”
Li Feng’s heart skipped, seeing her teary-eyed and worrying.
Then Hu Yuanyuan wiggled her leg, smiled happily, and said, “Hey, Li Feng, it’s not as painful now. It feels much better. How did you do that?”
Li Feng wasn’t surprised. Though not a doctor, as a soldier, basic first aid was second nature.
“Look who I am. There’s nothing I can’t do,” Li Feng said smugly. “I’ve got a massage technique too. Want to try it? It’ll relieve your fatigue.”
Hu Yuanyuan hesitated, then nodded. Li Feng, delighted, moved behind her, hands outstretched.
As his hands touched her back, Hu Yuanyuan tensed.
Li Feng’s fingers started at her left shoulder, moving slowly down her arm, elbow, forearm, wrist, palm, and fingers, then back up in reverse, returning to her shoulder.
“Hu Yuanyuan, relax. It’s just a massage, not eating you,” Li Feng said softly, noticing her stiffness. He clasped his palms and gently tapped her left arm, moving up and down, gradually increasing the force.
At his words, Hu Yuanyuan’s face flushed with embarrassment. She couldn’t relax around him.
She didn’t know where Li Feng learned his technique, but soon, her arm felt soothed amid slight pain, and she relaxed completely.
Unbeknownst to her, Li Feng’s massage drew from centuries of future therapists’ experience, blending martial arts principles to promote blood flow and vitality.
Perhaps Hu Yuanyuan was exhausted, or maybe Li Feng’s technique was exceptional. Either way, under his massage, she fell asleep.
Looking at her sleeping, Li Feng gave a wry smile. She must have been worn out these past days.
He gently carried her to her room, placed her on the bed, glanced at her peaceful face, and left.
In the hall, Li Feng took out his phone and dialed a number. “Fu Jun, the plan starts tomorrow. Within three days, I want control of Sun Group.”
