“Brother Wuma, you know me, I’m not one to joke around.”
“Of course it’s true.” the Chu Clan Leader said.
“Brother Chu, if you’re willing to step in, that’d be fantastic.” Upon confirmation, the Wuma Supreme Elder was overjoyed, as if he’d found a saviour.
“Brother Wuma, do you have any leads on those two girls?” the Chu Clan Leader asked.
“Brother Chu, those two girls are no ordinary foes, they escape with ease, how could they leave traces?” At this, the Wuma Supreme Elder’s headache was evident.
“Do you know anything about their origins?” the Chu Clan Leader pressed further.
“No.” The Wuma Supreme Elder shook his head.
“Any countermeasures?” the Chu Clan Leader asked again.
“None.” The Wuma Supreme Elder shook his head once more.
“Brother Wuma, how am I supposed to help you then?” the Chu Clan Leader felt a wave of helplessness.
He and Chu Feng had come here to gather information about Su Rou and Su Mei from the Wuma Clan, but now it seemed they knew nothing.
“For now, we can only wait for them to show up, like guarding a tree for rabbits.”
“But our clan has many resource sites across Chizhou Upper Realm, we can’t be sure which they’ll target next, most importantly, they were raiding frequently until recently, when they suddenly slowed down, we don’t even know if they’re still in Chizhou Upper Realm.” the Wuma Supreme Elder said.
“Brother Wuma, if that’s the case, how can I assist?” the Chu Clan Leader said, a touch exasperated.
“The Criminal Punishment Hall has been tracking them, if they find anything, I hope you can help, Brother Chu.” the Wuma Supreme Elder replied.
“Absolutely.” the Chu Clan Leader agreed.
In truth, he felt quite helpless at that moment.
The Moon Immortal, who’d taken over Su Rou and Su Mei’s bodies, could injure a Wuma Supreme Elder, how could the Criminal Punishment Hall possibly handle her?
So, the Chu Clan Leader placed no hope in the Wuma Clan’s Criminal Punishment Hall, he’d already decided to investigate personally.
Thus, he said, “Since I’ve promised to help, I’ll look into it myself, hopefully I can find some clue.”
“If that’s so, even better, Brother Chu… you’re truly my Clan Leader’s bosom friend, I don’t know how to thank you enough.” The Supreme Elder’s face was full of gratitude.
“Supreme Elder!” Just then, an elder’s voice came from outside the hall.
“Whatever it is, wait, can’t you see I’m hosting a guest?” the Wuma Supreme Elder snapped, clearly displeased.
“Supreme Elder, I have urgent news to report.” the elder said again.
Hearing this, the Wuma Supreme Elder’s expression shifted, he clasped his fists to the Chu Clan Leader, “Brother Chu, one moment please.”
With that, he stepped outside.
Not long after, he returned to the hall.
But when he came back, his face was alight with joy, as if something wonderful had happened.
“Brother Chu, heaven’s on our side, we’ve found those two witches!” the Wuma Supreme Elder exclaimed.
“Where?” the Chu Clan Leader asked.
“At the Zhongling Mountain Range, if you’re willing, Brother Chu, we can head there now to catch them.” the Wuma Supreme Elder said.
“Let’s go immediately.” the Chu Clan Leader replied.
“Is this young friend coming too?” the Wuma Supreme Elder asked.
“Is there a problem?” the Chu Clan Leader countered.
He’d brought Chu Feng here, and though the Wuma Supreme Elder had been warm to him, from start to finish, he’d barely glanced at Chu Feng, let alone asked his name.
This irked the Chu Clan Leader a bit.
It showed the Wuma Supreme Elder looked down on the Chu Clan’s younger generation, hence his refusal to acknowledge Chu Feng, deeming him unworthy of attention.
If this treatment were directed at someone else, the Chu Clan Leader might not mind, but toward Chu Feng, it grated on him.
After all, he valued Chu Feng so highly, seeing him as the Chu Clan’s hope.
“No issue at all.” Sensing the Chu Clan Leader’s displeasure, the Wuma Supreme Elder quickly forced a smile, perhaps realising Chu Feng held some weight with him, he even gave Chu Feng a proper look.
But he said no more, turning to lead the way for the Chu Clan Leader.
“Chu Feng, what’s wrong?” On the way, the Chu Clan Leader secretly transmitted a message to Chu Feng, noticing something off about him.
But some things he didn’t want the Wuma Clan to overhear, hence the private transmission.
“Senior, I don’t know if it’s a coincidence.”
Receiving the Clan Leader’s secret message, Chu Feng replied in kind, “These days, I’ve been studying the map in the Spirit Beast Treasure Map, I’ve learned the secret realm it describes is in Chizhou Upper Realm, at a place called the Zhongling Mountain Range.”
“Really?” At this, the Chu Clan Leader’s heart jolted.
He finally understood why Chu Feng seemed off after learning their destination.
Anyone would wonder.
The Moon Immortal, plundering resources, appearing at the Zhongling Mountain Range where the secret realm lay—was this truly a coincidence?
“Brother Chu, there’s something I need to tell you.” Suddenly, the Wuma Supreme Elder turned back and said.
“Brother Wuma, what is it?” the Chu Clan Leader asked.
“I mentioned earlier that our clan discovered an ancient ruin in Chizhou Upper Realm, that ruin is located in the Zhongling Mountain Range.” the Wuma Supreme Elder explained.
“This…”
Hearing this, Chu Feng and the Chu Clan Leader were both stunned, they exchanged a glance involuntarily.
No words passed between them, but their eyes spoke volumes.
This was no coincidence at all.
