The sudden, booming voice was loud and brimming with authority.
If someone timid heard such a roar, they’d surely jump in fright.
In fact, when it rang out, even the killing-intent-laden female spirit froze for a moment.
Her beautiful eyes widened, filled with astonishment.
And the reason for her shock? The voice had come from Chu Feng’s mouth.
She must’ve been stunned—how could Chu Feng, a fish on the chopping block, have the gall to order her to stop?
“Little miss, I’ll give you one more chance—release your master right now,” Chu Feng said to the spirit, “or don’t blame me for getting rough.”
“Clueless fool,” the spirit sneered coldly, then moved to strike him down.
*Wail—*
But suddenly, her killing intent vanished, her hands flew to her head, and she staggered back several steps, her exquisite face twisting in excruciating pain.
The agony was so intense she couldn’t stand, soon collapsing to the ground.
Meanwhile, Chu Feng, freed from her oppressive force, showed no surprise— instead, a smug grin crept onto his face.
Hands behind his back, he strolled over to her with a swagger, asking, “Little miss, do you know your mistake now?”
“You bastard, what did you do to me?” she roared, her voice dripping with fury.
“As a spirit master, if I couldn’t even control my own spirit, I’d be a disgrace to my mother,” Chu Feng replied. “It’s simple—when I formed the contract with you, I added a binding clause, you were probably too eager to notice, huh?”
“Despicable! Shameless!!!” Learning the truth, the spirit’s anger flared even hotter.
“Look, don’t blame me, if I hadn’t set that binding, I’d be dead by now,” Chu Feng said. “As long as you obey me and follow my orders, I swear I won’t hurt you.”
As he spoke, the spirit’s pained expression began to ease.
That was because Chu Feng had lightened the binding’s grip.
“Let me serve you? Unless you kill me, dream on,” she spat, her resolve unshaken despite his mercy.
“You’ve got some backbone, I’ll give you that, I won’t kill you, though Xue Ji wasn’t my capture, she’s tied to me, and I bear some responsibility, so I get why you hate me,” Chu Feng said.
“How about this—I won’t make it hard for you, go back where you came from, once you’re in the Shura Spirit Realm, I’ll release the contract.”
With a thought, a barrier gate opened in the spirit space.
It was identical to the one she’d entered through—a gateway to the Shura Spirit Realm.
“You’re saying the one who captured my mistress wasn’t you?” she asked, staring at Chu Feng, clearly invested in the answer.
“I was still a baby back then—how could I have stormed the Shura Spirit Realm and snatched your mistress?” Chu Feng replied. “I agree it wasn’t right, but I won’t let you harm her—who told her to be my mother?”
“Your mother?” The spirit’s gaze shifted, and she asked, “Why did your mother drag my mistress into your spirit space?”
“My mom couldn’t stay by my side for some reasons, but she wanted me to grow strong fast, so… she grabbed two spirits and tossed them into my spirit space, hoping they’d help me along,” Chu Feng said, glancing at Eggy with a tender look. “That’s how my Queen came to be.”
Though he felt his mother’s actions were wrong, he was grateful she’d done it.
Without that, he’d never have met Eggy, his mentor and friend.
“There, I’ve told you everything I know, all true, no lies,” Chu Feng said. “Now you can go back.”
“I can’t return until I find my mistress,” she replied. “Release the contract here.”
“If I release it in my world, you’ll turn into a malevolent spirit,” Chu Feng warned.
“Malevolent or not, I don’t care, as long as I can find my mistress,” she said, her eyes resolute.
“That won’t do,” Chu Feng shook his head.
“Why not?” she asked.
“You’re stronger than me right now, with the contract, I can control you, but if I release it, even as a malevolent spirit, you could still come after me,” Chu Feng explained.
“I swear, if you release the contract, I won’t touch you,” she promised.
Chu Feng laughed, “Little miss, you just tricked me and genuinely tried to kill me, you think I’d believe you now?”
“I swear to the heavens this time—I won’t break my word,” she insisted.
“Forget it, no more of that, I’ll give you two choices,” Chu Feng said. “Either go back to the Shura Spirit Realm now, or obediently be my spirit, either way, I’m going after Old Cat too—we could fight side by side.”
Hearing this, the spirit lowered her head, finally considering his proposal seriously.
At last, she looked up.
“Fine, I’ll go back to my world,” she said.
Chu Feng’s brows furrowed, thinking to himself, *Am I really that unappealing? She’d rather be a malevolent spirit or return to the Shura Spirit Realm than serve me?*
Though he thought it, he didn’t show it—Chu Feng had some gentlemanly grace, after all.
“Alright, go back then, once you’re there, I’ll release the contract right away,” he said.
“You’d better keep your word,” she replied, standing and stepping into the barrier gate.
*Buzz—*
But as she entered, the gate trembled violently.
Then, with a loud *bang*, it shattered, and a figure tumbled out from the wreckage.
It was her.
“What are you doing?” Chu Feng asked, baffled.
“You’re asking me? I should be asking you—what are you up to?” she snapped, glaring at him furiously.
“What did I do? If you don’t want to go back, just say it—why mess around like this?” Chu Feng said.
“Who said I don’t want to go back? If *you* don’t want me to leave, just say it—why toy with me?” Her anger flared hotter.
“Who said I don’t want you to go? I—” Chu Feng started to argue, but she cut him off.
“Enough, stop talking, I’ll do it myself.”
She waved a hand dismissively.
In the spirit space, a spirit could open a barrier gate to their own world anytime, but only if the contracted spirit master sensed it and approved.
She meant for Chu Feng to agree to her opening it.
“Fine, do it yourself,” Chu Feng gestured for her to go ahead.
*Buzz—*
Without delay, she summoned a gate with a thought and stepped in without looking back.
*Bang—*
Another explosion rang out, the gate blew apart again, and she landed back in the spirit space.
“Damn it!”
After two failures, she was livid.
Seeing her furious glare, Chu Feng quickly said, “Don’t look at me—you opened that gate yourself, this has nothing to do with me.”
