“Patriarch, do you have other plans?” the elder asked.
“It’s not about other plans—it’s about not wanting to provoke that man,” the Patriarch of the Dantai Celestial Clan said.
“Patriarch, are you referring to Chu Xuanyuan?” the elder asked.
“Who else could it be? Right now, the forbidden land where Chu Xuanyuan is imprisoned is sealed by a barrier, and that barrier is so strong that no one can break it.”
“Whether Chu Xuanyuan is still in the forbidden land is impossible to know.”
“But as it stands, it’s highly likely that Chu Xuanyuan himself set up that barrier. That man may very well have returned to the Ancestral Martial Starfield.”
“To be capable of creating such a formidable formation, his current strength likely makes him unmatched in the entire Ancestral Martial Starfield,” the Patriarch of the Dantai Celestial Clan said.
“No wonder, no wonder Chu Xuanyuan’s son suddenly appeared. So, he has Chu Xuanyuan backing him. It seems Chu Xuanyuan has been playing a grand game, and the Starfield Master Realm has been outmanoeuvred.”
“In that case, even without the Linghu Celestial Clan’s intervention, the Starfield Master Realm’s position is in jeopardy?”
Upon hearing this news, the prominent figures of the Dantai Celestial Clan began to stir with unease.
Chu Xuanyuan was a man capable of altering the entire power structure of the Ancestral Martial Starfield—they dared not ignore him.
In his youth, Chu Xuanyuan had already been a headache for various forces.
How much more formidable would he be now, with his wings fully spread?
“If Chu Xuanyuan wanted to take revenge on the Starfield Master Realm, he would have acted long ago, not waited until now,” the Patriarch of the Dantai Celestial Clan said.
“Patriarch, could Chu Xuanyuan be planning to let bygones be bygones?”
“But he’s always been one to settle scores. He doesn’t seem like someone so magnanimous,” the elders of the Dantai Celestial Clan said, their eyes flickering with uncertainty.
The Patriarch shook his head, a bitter smile on his lips. “No one can fathom that man’s thoughts.”
At that moment, the entire hall fell silent.
They all had to admit that Dantai Xiangnan’s words rang true—Chu Xuanyuan was indeed an inscrutable man.
But they also knew that, whether or not Chu Xuanyuan had returned to the Ancestral Martial Starfield, and whether or not he had set up that barrier, as long as Chu Xuanyuan remained a potential threat, they could not afford to provoke Chu Feng.
They were all too aware of that man’s methods.
*Bang!*
At that moment, the tightly shut doors of the hall were suddenly forced open.
An elder, his face full of anxiety, rushed in.
Some were about to scold him—after all, they were discussing confidential matters, and barging in at such a time was a grave offence.
But when they saw who it was, they suppressed their anger.
The intruder was Dantai Zuhui, one of the Supreme Elders of the Dantai Celestial Clan.
Dantai Zuhui was not only at the peak of the Venerable realm but also one of the key figures guarding the clan. He wouldn’t leave his post unless it was a matter of utmost importance.
Nor would he forcibly break through the sealed doors of the hall.
And now, his face was filled with panic, likely signalling a major event within the clan.
“Elder Zuhui, what’s happened?” the Patriarch asked.
“Patriarch, the Black-Haired Phantom—it may have truly reappeared,” Dantai Zuhui said.
“What?”
“This!”
At those words, everyone in the hall stood up, shocked, their eyes filled with varying degrees of panic.
Even Dantai Xiangnan, the strongest of the Dantai Celestial Clan, was no exception.
…
Meanwhile, Chu Feng and Wuming Xingyun were in a room.
Chu Feng had already informed Wuming Xingyun of the matters the Patriarch of the Dantai Celestial Clan had inquired about.
Wuming Xingyun had anticipated this, so he didn’t dwell on it, instead engaging in casual conversation.
“Little friend.”
But their chat was interrupted when a voice suddenly called from outside.
As the voice rang out, a figure pushed open the door and walked in uninvited.
Upon seeing this person, not only did Chu Feng smile, but even Wuming Xingyun, who had been slightly annoyed, broke into a grin.
“I was wondering who it was—turns out it’s you, lass,” Wuming Xingyun laughed.
The uninvited guest was Li Ruochu, the elder sister of Li Yue’er.
From Wuming Xingyun’s reaction, Chu Feng could tell that he and Li Ruochu were not only acquainted but seemed to have a good relationship.
“Senior, it’s been a while. Ruochu pays her respects,” Li Ruochu said with a sweet smile, giving Wuming Xingyun an exaggerated bow tinged with playfulness.
“How old are you now, still acting like a child?” Wuming Xingyun shook his head with a smile.
“Look at you, Senior—am I not a child?” Li Ruochu pouted.
“Yes, yes, you’re right about everything,” Wuming Xingyun said, adopting an air of exasperation, as if he couldn’t handle her. Then, with a wave of his sleeve, he walked towards the door.
“Hey, Senior, where are you off to?” Li Ruochu asked.
“Where else? I’m giving you two some space. Did you come all this way to see me, lass?” Wuming Xingyun feigned mild displeasure.
Li Ruochu, unfazed, waved at him. “Thanks, Senior!”
“You little rascal.”
Seeing her like this, Wuming Xingyun’s stern expression melted into a smile. “You two chat. This old man will keep watch for you.”
With that, Wuming Xingyun walked out.
“Senior, is something up?” Chu Feng asked.
“Senior? How rude! Do you think I’m hundreds of years older than you?”
“Call me Sister,” Li Ruochu said, shooting Chu Feng a playful glare.
“Sister Ruochu, Chu Feng pays his respects,” Chu Feng said, mimicking her earlier exaggerated bow perfectly.
“Enough nonsense. Your sister’s here for a reason,” Li Ruochu said.
“And what might that be, Sister Ruochu?” Chu Feng asked.
“My little sister might be in trouble,” Li Ruochu said.
“What?”
At those words, the smile vanished from Chu Feng’s face, and his heart tightened.
After all, Li Ruochu’s little sister was Li Yue’er.
