Chu Feng was unaware of the Blood-Devouring Demon Venerable’s thoughts or words. Likewise, he had no idea that his body harbored such a formidable formation—one so powerful that even a True God Realm expert feared it.
That formation was left by his father, Chu Xuanyuan.
But Chu Feng knew none of this.
In his memory, he had been attacked by the Demon Venerable, a being of overwhelming, invincible power—the pinnacle of the martial world, wielding True God Realm martial strength and True Dragon-level formation power.
Chu Feng had thought he was doomed. The pain was excruciating.
Over the years, Chu Feng had endured countless trials and pains. Even if his flesh were torn apart, he wouldn’t flinch.
But this pain was unbearable—the worst he’d ever felt.
It was the agony of his soul being ripped apart.
Yet gradually, the pain consuming his body began to ease, eventually vanishing entirely. His once-paralyzed body regained its strength.
Chu Feng opened his eyes, surveyed his surroundings, and confirmed one thing…
He wasn’t dead!
Not only was he alive, but the little girl’s power still resided within him.
It hadn’t been stripped away by the Demon Venerable.
And the Demon Venerable sat beside him.
Though still wrapped in blood-soaked bandages, his appearance eerie, he now exuded a serene air, like a kind grandfather waiting for his grandson to wake.
Even Chu Feng, who had nearly been killed by him moments ago, felt less fear seeing him now.
“You’re awake,” the Demon Venerable said with a faint smile, his gaze filled with concern.
“You didn’t kill me?” Chu Feng asked.
“Why would I kill you?” the Demon Venerable countered.
“Didn’t you want the power in my body?” Chu Feng pressed.
“Of course I wanted it. But for a million years, no one has ever obtained that power.”
“Now that it’s chosen you, it means only you are worthy of it.”
“What use would it be for me to take it?” The Demon Venerable shook his head.
“Then just now…?” Chu Feng was confused. The Demon Venerable’s attack hadn’t felt like a pretense. The killing intent was real. Chu Feng had truly been on the brink of death.
“I was merely testing you, to see if you were truly qualified to wield such power.”
“And the result, as you know, didn’t disappoint me. Your resolve to protect that power, even at the cost of your life, is something ordinary people lack.”
“So, you passed my test,” the Demon Venerable said.
“Senior, they say to stop at the right point. Wasn’t your test a bit too cruel?”
“I genuinely thought I was going to die—no, I thought I *had* died. It’s a miracle I’m alive. I can’t even believe I’m still here,” Chu Feng said.
“Hahaha, if it wasn’t convincing, a clever kid like you would’ve seen through my intentions, wouldn’t you?”
“I’m sure *her* test was far harsher than mine, wasn’t it?” the Demon Venerable asked.
Chu Feng knew he was referring to the little girl.
Thinking back, while the little girl’s test hadn’t threatened his life as directly as the Demon Venerable’s, it was still perilous. One wrong step, and he would’ve died at her hands.
It was a test of his humanity.
Reflecting on this, Chu Feng found himself agreeing with the Demon Venerable.
The little girl’s test had indeed been more dangerous.
“Senior, can you now tell me what the power in my body is?” Chu Feng asked.
“The Void Divine Tree,” the Demon Venerable replied.
“The Void Divine Tree?” Chu Feng was startled. “You mean *she* is the Void Divine Tree?”
“Exactly. The towering tree you saw—it’s the true power,” the Demon Venerable confirmed.
Chu Feng fell silent, his heart roiling.
He was stunned. Though he knew the little girl was connected to the Void Divine Tree, he hadn’t realized she *was* the Void Divine Tree.
But on reflection, it made sense. The little girl could control everything.
During his fusion with her, when other forces bullied the Chu Heavenly Clan in the Divine Hall, it was she who triggered the hall’s tremors, awakening the clan leader and others cultivating on the Void Throne.
This proved she indeed wielded the power to control the Void Divine Tree.
“In truth, the Void Divine Tree is just a name it uses to disguise itself,” the Demon Venerable continued.
“To be precise, what you’ve obtained is the Power of the Divine.”
“The Power of the Divine?” Chu Feng’s eyes widened.
“It’s the true Power of the Divine—not something a True God Realm can compare to,” the Demon Venerable said.
“What?” Chu Feng was utterly shocked.
The True God Realm was already an unattainable pinnacle for him.
He’d just glimpsed a fraction of True God Realm power through the Demon Venerable, a force so overwhelming it inspired despair.
Yet, according to the Demon Venerable, the little girl’s power surpassed even that?
“So, the power in my body is stronger than yours, Senior?” Chu Feng asked.
“Of course it’s stronger than mine. There’s no comparison,” the Demon Venerable said.
“But Chu Feng, I must confess—I lied to you earlier.”
“What? Senior, what did you lie about?” Chu Feng asked.
“I don’t currently possess True God Realm power, nor True Dragon World Spiritist power,” the Demon Venerable admitted.
“Oh? Then, Senior, you have Demigod Realm power and God-Cloak World Spiritist power?” Chu Feng asked.
“Barely, you could say,” the Demon Venerable said with a meaningful smile, adding, “But I once did possess True God Realm power and True Dragon World Spiritist power.”
“And I will, eventually, reclaim True God Realm power and True Dragon World Spiritist power.”
“No, to be precise, it’s Wang Qiang.”
“Next, I’ll fuse with Wang Qiang and assist him in becoming a True God Realm master and a True Dragon World Spiritist.”
“So, Chu Feng, with someone like me guiding your brother, don’t you feel some pressure?” the Demon Venerable asked.
“There’s definitely pressure,” Chu Feng admitted. “But, Senior, I’ll work hard too. The True God Realm is also my goal. You might find it laughable, but…”
“The True God Realm isn’t even my ultimate goal.”
“What I, Chu Feng, truly want to become isn’t just a True God Realm cultivator.”
“I want to be the strongest in this world.”
