“Senior, I’ve been searching for you tirelessly.”
“To think, I’d meet you here.”
Confirming that this was indeed the Ox-Nosed Taoist, Chu Feng grew even more excited.
After all, the Ox-Nosed Taoist was the one capable of transforming the Vermilion Bird, Black Tortoise, White Tiger, and Azure Dragon—Chu Feng’s Four Sacred Beasts—back into Heavenly Bestowed Divine Power.
The Vermilion Bird Resurrection Technique, White Tiger Slaughter Technique, Black Tortoise Armor Technique, and Azure Dragon Sprint Technique were powerful skills Chu Feng had acquired in his youth. Though they’d lost their effectiveness as his cultivation advanced, they had been immensely helpful back then.
To Chu Feng, these four weren’t mere techniques but seniors with whom he shared a deep bond.
He desperately hoped they could reclaim their formidable power and fight alongside him again.
“Young man, from the look of you, you’ve been searching for me?” The Ox-Nosed Taoist was surprised by Chu Feng’s excitement.
“Senior, I’ve indeed been looking for you. I never imagined meeting you here,” Chu Feng said.
“I’ve been here for years; no wonder you couldn’t find me outside. So, why were you looking for me?” the Taoist asked.
“I want to fuse the Heavenly Bestowed Divine Power within me,” Chu Feng replied.
“You have Heavenly Bestowed Divine Power in you? Let me see.” The Taoist grabbed Chu Feng’s wrist.
*Buzz—*
A surge of power flowed from Chu Feng’s wrist into his soul. He didn’t resist, allowing the Taoist to probe his inner power.
“Young man, the Divine Power in you is extraordinary,” the Taoist said, his eyes gleaming with surprise after the inspection.
“Senior, can you help me?” Chu Feng asked.
“The stronger the Divine Power, the harder it is to fuse. Yours is the most potent I’ve ever seen. Fusing it will be no small feat,” the Taoist said. Holding up the bead, he added, “Why not fuse with this one instead? It’s easier.”
“Senior, can’t a person only fuse with one Divine Power?” Chu Feng asked.
“Not at all. I’ve helped someone with a Divine Body fuse with another Divine Power, giving them two. But since you already have a Heavenly Bloodline, you can only fuse with one Divine Power,” the Taoist said, patting Chu Feng’s shoulder with a smile. “Don’t be greedy. Having both a Divine Power and a Heavenly Bloodline is already beyond most people’s dreams.”
“In that case, I’d still like to fuse with the Divine Power in me,” Chu Feng said.
“Fine, but I’ve warned you—your Divine Power is formidable, and fusing it will be tough. I can’t guarantee success,” the Taoist said.
“Senior, that’s no ordinary halberd down there, is it? It’s the legendary War God’s Halberd, right?” Chu Feng asked suddenly.
“Uh… why ask?” The Taoist’s tone was cautious.
“The War God’s Halberd is a legendary artifact. Its value should surpass that of fusing a Divine Power, no?” Chu Feng pressed.
“Young man, I won’t hide it—that’s indeed the War God’s Halberd, and it’s incredibly valuable. But in the Ancestral Martial Star Region, or even the entire Holy Light Galaxy, who besides me can fuse a Divine Power into you? A weapon, no matter how strong, can become obsolete. But a Divine Power is a lifelong gain. Helping me get the halberd in exchange for this is a huge win for you. Besides, you’d need my help to even have a chance at it. With your strength, you’d be obliterated before getting close,” the Taoist said mockingly.
“Senior, don’t get upset. I didn’t say I wouldn’t cooperate,” Chu Feng said with a smile.
“Then what’s your point? Do you think I’m taking advantage of you by asking you to help me get the halberd in exchange for fusing your Divine Power?” the Taoist asked.
“Not at all. I just have a small request,” Chu Feng said.
“Request?” The Taoist’s small eyes darted. “Let’s hear it.”
“Since you can help me fuse a Divine Power, you can help others too. You were going to give me the Divine Power in your hand, but since I already have one, how about giving it to my friend instead?” Chu Feng asked.
“I see. You want me to help you fuse your Divine Power and also help someone else fuse one, right?” the Taoist clarified.
“Senior, nothing gets past you,” Chu Feng said with a cheeky grin.
He figured since the Taoist was willing to help, he shouldn’t waste the opportunity. He wanted the Taoist to fuse that Divine Power into Chu Lingxi.
“First, tell me how you knew I could help you fuse a Divine Power,” the Taoist asked.
“My father told me. He’s also from the Chu Heavenly Clan, named Chu Xuanyuan,” Chu Feng said.
“Your father is Chu Xuanyuan? So… you’re Chu Feng?” The Taoist’s expression shifted noticeably.
“Yes, Senior. I’m Chu Feng. I was too excited earlier and forgot to introduce myself. Please forgive my rudeness,” Chu Feng said.
“Well, well, family ties! Your father and I go way back. I even saw you when you were little. Hard to believe you’ve grown so much,” the Taoist said warmly, his attitude now like that of an elder meeting a junior. “Since we’re family, your request is granted.”
“Senior, what should I do?” Chu Feng asked.
“Wait here. I’ll use a technique to lure those guardian spirits away. Once they’re gone, you go grab the War God’s Halberd,” the Taoist said.
“That simple?” Chu Feng asked.
“That simple. See, aren’t you getting a great deal?” the Taoist said with a smug grin.
But looking at the Taoist’s ugly face and sly smile, Chu Feng couldn’t shake the feeling that things weren’t as simple as they seemed.
