“City Lord Long, please speak.”
As Long Daozhi’s words fell, the crowd spoke up, eager to know who he would recommend as the new leader of the Ancestral Martial Starfield.
“I believe the one most capable of managing the Ancestral Martial Starfield today is the Chu Heavenly Clan’s leader,” Long Daozhi said, turning his gaze to the Chu Heavenly Clan’s patriarch.
“The Chu Heavenly Clan’s leader?”
The crowd’s eyes followed Long Daozhi’s, and when they confirmed he indeed meant the Chu Heavenly Clan’s patriarch, an uproar erupted.
If the Three Cities wouldn’t take over, the new overlord should logically be chosen based on strength.
The most qualified would naturally be Gu Mingyuan. Though a First-Rank Supreme, her bloodline power could elevate her cultivation to Second-Rank Supreme, making her exceptionally strong. After the Linghu Heavenly Clan’s departure, no one in the Ancestral Martial Starfield, except the Three Cities, could match her.
Gu Mingyuan’s only flaw was her fiery temper. If she became the overlord, she’d likely be a tyrant.
But even if Gu Mingyuan wasn’t suitable, there were still the Tantai Heavenly Clan, the Jiaoli Heavenly Clan, and other forces.
No matter how you looked at it, the Chu Heavenly Clan’s leader didn’t seem to fit.
Not only was the Chu Heavenly Clan’s status barely recognised in the Ancestral Martial Starfield, but their patriarch was only at the peak of the Venerable realm.
Though peak Venerable was just a step from Supreme, the gap was significant.
In the entire Ancestral Martial Starfield, Supreme-realm experts were rare, but peak Venerables were not uncommon.
To lead the Ancestral Martial Starfield, one should at least be a Supreme. How could a mere peak Venerable command respect?
Thus, the crowd buzzed with discussion, some even calling Long Daozhi’s decision absurd.
Hearing the murmurs from all directions, Long Daozhi’s expression darkened.
“What, you don’t agree with my choice?” he asked, his voice calm but his face grim. “Who disagrees, and why? Speak up.”
Though his words weren’t loud or angry, his expression made it clear he was displeased.
The crowd, previously vocal in their objections, fell silent.
They might not respect the Chu Heavenly Clan, but they didn’t dare offend Long Daozhi.
“City Lord Long, thank you for your high regard, but my strength is limited. I’m truly unfit for this role,” the Chu Heavenly Clan’s patriarch said, clasping his fists.
This wasn’t mere courtesy; he genuinely felt incapable of such a responsibility.
“Patriarch Chu, if I say you can do it, you can,” Long Daozhi replied. “From today, your Chu Heavenly Clan is the leader of the Ancestral Martial Starfield. My Ancestral Martial Dragon City will back you. If anyone dares defy or disrespect your clan, we won’t let them off.”
“Patriarch Chu, my Monster Clan Holy City stands with you,” the Monster Clan Holy City’s lord declared.
“My Divine Body King City as well,” added the Divine Body King City’s lord.
Both stepped beside the Chu Heavenly Clan’s patriarch, clearly aligning with him.
Though the Three Cities didn’t meddle in the starfield’s affairs, they firmly supported the Chu Heavenly Clan.
“My Wanzhou Ancient Clan also supports the Chu Heavenly Clan as the leader of the Ancestral Martial Starfield,” Gu Mingyuan chimed in. “We’re allies with them. If anyone disrespects them, they disrespect me. You all know my temper. My anger from the Linghu Heavenly Clan hasn’t subsided, so don’t provoke me, or you’ll face the consequences.”
Compared to the Three Cities’ lords’ tact, Gu Mingyuan was blunt, openly threatening the crowd.
The onlookers exchanged glances. Though utterly unwilling, none dared voice dissent.
The Chu Heavenly Clan was indeed weak, neither the clan nor its patriarch widely respected.
The only one acknowledged was Chu Feng, but he was still a junior.
Yet, the Ancestral Martial Dragon City, Monster Clan Holy City, Divine Body King City, and Wanzhou Ancient Clan were forces no one dared challenge. With all four backing the Chu Heavenly Clan, people had no choice but to accept it.
They didn’t fear the Chu Heavenly Clan, but they greatly feared the four forces behind them.
“Greetings, Starfield Lord!” Suddenly, someone half-knelt, bowing deeply to the Chu Heavenly Clan’s patriarch.
The crowd was stunned to see it was Chu Feng.
“Chu Feng, don’t fool around,” the patriarch said, waving for him to rise, uneasy with being called Starfield Lord and reluctant to bear such a burden.
“Greetings, Starfield Lord!” But then, a thunderous chorus rang out.
All the Chu Heavenly Clan members half-knelt.
Following them, other forces did the same, including the Tantai and Jiaoli Heavenly Clans, led by their Supreme-realm patriarchs.
“This…” The Chu Heavenly Clan’s patriarch’s face was filled with complex emotions.
He struggled to accept this, never having dreamed that one day, all the forces of the Ancestral Martial Starfield would bow to him.
Starfield Lord?
A title he hadn’t dared imagine was now his.
Yet, while he was caught in a dreamlike daze, unable to accept the reality, his clan members’ faces brimmed with uncontainable excitement.
They, too, had never imagined this day.
For a clan neither recognised nor respected, to become the object of submission for all forces, to become the kings of the Ancestral Martial Starfield—it felt like a dream.
Even knowing many submitted reluctantly, they were thrilled to hold such a title.
But amid their joy, many couldn’t help glancing at Chu Feng.
They knew the Chu Heavenly Clan’s support from the four major forces wasn’t due to their patriarch but to Chu Feng.
This was clear to the clan, the patriarch, and even outsiders.
The Chu Heavenly Clan’s rise was all thanks to Chu Feng.
Though Chu Feng’s face also showed excitement and joy, a heavy weight settled in his heart.
He knew the Chu Heavenly Clan’s rise to overlord was a good thing.
But it was also a massive challenge, perhaps an unprecedented one.
The difficulty wasn’t just that the starfield’s forces didn’t respect them.
It was that Chu Feng’s ambitions no longer lay within the Ancestral Martial Starfield.
