“Ge’er, I’m sorry. I’ve failed you and your mother.”
Old Freak Tang, trembling all over, dropped to his knees before Song Ge.
Tears streamed down his face.
This was a Supreme Realm powerhouse, yet now he wept like a broken man.
“Uncle Tang, who are you? Who are you really?” Song Ge asked repeatedly.
But Old Freak Tang couldn’t bring himself to speak, only repeating his apologies.
Chu Feng, unable to watch any longer, said to Song Ge, “Song Ge, he’s actually your father.”
“Father… you’re really my father?” Song Ge asked, wide-eyed.
“Yes,” Old Freak Tang nodded.
At his confirmation, Song Ge froze, stunned for a long time, as if struggling to accept the truth or scared senseless.
But suddenly, she lunged forward, throwing herself into Old Freak Tang’s arms.
“So you’re my father! You’ve been by my side all along, but why, why didn’t you acknowledge me? Do you know how much I wanted to meet you? Do you know?”
Song Ge’s cries echoed across the plaza, heart-wrenching and pitiable. Her sobs carried not just resentment toward Old Freak Tang but, more than that, a deep longing for him.
“I’m sorry. It’s all my fault. I’ve failed you and your mother.”
Old Freak Tang kept apologising, inevitable given the deep guilt he felt toward Song Ge and her mother.
“Father?”
“This Supreme Realm master is Song Ge’s father?”
While Song Ge and her father wept together, the head of Chongxu Temple, Zuo Ying, and her father turned ashen.
Zuo Ying’s father, in particular, grabbed her, trying to flee.
Whoosh—
But as they took to the air, a powerful force slammed them back down.
It was Chu Feng.
“Think you can just leave after doing wrong? There’s no such thing in this world.”
Chu Feng looked at Zuo Ying and her father.
Then he turned to Old Freak Tang and shouted, “Enough, Senior Tang. If you and your daughter want to catch up, do it later. Deal with things here first.”
Hearing Chu Feng, Old Freak Tang released Song Ge, wiped the tears from his face, and forced an even uglier smile onto his scarred face.
“Daughter, stay here and watch. Watch how your father gets justice for you.”
With that, Old Freak Tang stood and walked step by step toward Zuo Ying’s father.
Seeing him approach, unable to escape, Zuo Ying’s father dropped to his knees, begging for mercy, banging his head so hard it bled.
But Old Freak Tang ignored it all. He grabbed Zuo Ying’s father by the head, yanking him up from the ground.
“Did you just slander my daughter?” Old Freak Tang asked coldly, his tone like a death god interrogating a guilty soul.
“Sir, I was wrong, I was wrong! I didn’t know she was your daughter!”
“Sir, I have a daughter too. I understand your feelings. I only wanted to stand up for my daughter. You can relate, right? Please, spare me, spare me!” Zuo Ying’s father pleaded.
But Old Freak Tang ignored his words, sneering coldly, “Admitting it is good. Apologies are useless. Paying a price is what matters.”
With that, he squeezed his hand. With a squelch, Zuo Ying’s father died in his grip.
“Father!!!” Zuo Ying screamed, her voice tearing through the air as she watched her father die.
“You’re no good either. Join your father below.”
As Old Freak Tang spoke, he swung his hand. With a bang, Zuo Ying was obliterated, her soul scattered.
She followed her father in death.
“As for you, Chongxu Temple, you can’t distinguish right from wrong, loyal from treacherous.”
“Go down and accompany that despicable father and daughter.”
With those words, Old Freak Tang unleashed a surge of killing intent that instantly engulfed the entire Chongxu Temple.
“Sir, spare us, please!”
Everyone in Chongxu Temple dropped to their knees, begging.
They had no choice but to beg, for they all felt Old Freak Tang’s killing intent.
Under that intent, the temple felt less like a sacred place and more like a living hell.
They knew if they didn’t beg, they’d all die.
But begging was futile. Old Freak Tang’s killing intent was set.
“Stop!!!”
A voice rang out, halting the growing tide of his killing intent.
It was Song Ge. Song Ge had spoken.
“Let them go. They’re innocent,” she said.
“Alright. My daughter says to spare you, so I will.”
“But remember this: you’re alive today because of my daughter.”
“Your lives were granted by my daughter,” Old Freak Tang said coldly.
“Thank you, Lady Song! Thank you, Lady Song!”
The elders and disciples of Chongxu Temple began thanking Song Ge.
Even the temple head joined in.
Yet moments ago, they had been targeting her.
It was an ironic scene.
“Father, let’s go home. My mother is ill. Come with me to see her,” Song Ge said, tears streaming down her face again.
“Alright, let’s go see your mother.”
Old Freak Tang nodded repeatedly, then left with Song Ge.
Though Old Freak Tang and Song Ge had gone, everyone in Chongxu Temple remained kneeling, not one daring to stand.
“It’s not that fortune didn’t favour you. You just didn’t seize it. Truly foolish.”
“You’ve failed as a temple head.”
Chu Feng mocked the Chongxu Temple head before soaring into the air and vanishing.
After Chu Feng left, the temple head collapsed to the ground with a thud.
His body trembled violently. A man who had lived for thousands of years, the head of Chongxu Temple, now wept like a broken soul.
Why was he so heartbroken? Because he knew Chu Feng was right.
He had failed utterly. He had been utterly foolish.
If he had chosen Song Ge over Zuo Ying, today would have had a different outcome.
But alas, there were no ifs…
