“Master?”
Hearing Yuan Shu’s words, Chu Feng’s eyes flickered, as he began to piece things together.
“Haha, Brother Chu Feng, you didn’t think I was the close friend of that Old Man Bullnose, did you?”
“Brother Chu Feng, you’ve misunderstood. Old Man Bullnose’s close friend is my master,” Yuan Shu said.
He then briefly explained the situation to Chu Feng.
Yuan Shu’s master was named Tang Chen, known as Master Tang Chen.
Master Tang Chen was a renowned figure across the entire Holy Light Galaxy.
Many of the formations in the Seven Suns Mountain Range were, in fact, crafted by him.
However, Master Tang Chen lived here in seclusion, and the world was unaware of his presence. Only Yuan Shu knew.
If Chu Feng hadn’t been sent by Old Man Bullnose, Yuan Shu wouldn’t have shared this with him.
After all, Master Tang Chen’s fame was immense. If word got out that he was secluded here, not only would the forces of the Zhutian Starfield come to pay their respects, but even the major powers and experts of the Holy Light Galaxy would flock to the Seven Suns Mountain Range.
Hearing this, Chu Feng gained a new perspective on Old Man Bullnose.
He had always known Old Man Bullnose was formidable, but he hadn’t realised just how formidable.
If Master Tang Chen was a celebrated figure in the Holy Light Galaxy, then Old Man Bullnose, his close friend, must also possess extraordinary strength and status.
“Brother Yuan Shu, since we’re of similar age, I won’t stand on ceremony. From today, let’s call each other brothers. You’re a few years older, so you’ll be my elder brother,” Chu Feng said to Yuan Shu.
Chu Feng had learned that Yuan Shu was only a little over five hundred years old.
Compared to old monsters like Zhang Duotuo, he was much younger.
The bet between Old Man Bullnose and Tang Chen was to each train an outstanding disciple to break the other’s formation. The winner’s disciple would claim victory.
It seemed Yuan Shu was the disciple carefully chosen by Tang Chen.
Though Yuan Shu was much older than Chu Feng, his cultivation and spirit formation techniques marked him as a rare genius.
From the perspective of the bet between Old Man Bullnose and Master Tang Chen, Yuan Shu was technically Chu Feng’s rival.
Yet Chu Feng had a great impression of Yuan Shu, who was a sincere and upright person.
So Chu Feng felt no hostility, finding Yuan Shu very much to his liking, hence his willingness to call him brother.
“Brother Chu Feng, I’m not just a few years older—I’m five hundred years older,” Yuan Shu corrected.
“For martial cultivators, that’s about the same,” Chu Feng said with a smile.
“Haha, fair point,” Yuan Shu laughed heartily.
“Brother Yuan Shu, where is the formation set by Master Tang Chen?” Chu Feng asked.
He hadn’t forgotten his purpose here and wanted to break the formation as soon as possible.
“I don’t know where it is. Only my master knows,” Yuan Shu replied.
“Unfortunately, my master isn’t in the Seven Suns Mountain Range right now.”
“Where did Master Tang Chen go, and when might he return?” Chu Feng asked.
“When he left, he only said that the Reincarnation Upper Realm has been unstable lately, and he needs to handle some matters. He told me to wait here and not leave the Seven Suns Mountain Range.”
“As for when he’ll return, he didn’t say.”
Yuan Shu suddenly looked at Chu Feng, “Brother Chu Feng, if you have no urgent matters, why not stay in the Seven Suns Mountain Range?”
“The formations my master set up here can keep you safe if anything happens.”
Chu Feng sensed the gravity of the situation.
Yuan Shu was, after all, a Supreme Realm powerhouse.
Based on Chu Feng’s estimation, Yuan Shu was likely not just a First Rank Supreme but possibly Second or even Third Rank.
Such cultivation was already formidable.
Yet even he was told by his master to stay within the Seven Suns Mountain Range. This suggested that the “instability” Master Tang Chen mentioned was no ordinary matter.
“Brother Yuan Shu, has some powerful villain come to the Seven Suns Mountain Range?” Chu Feng asked.
“Brother Chu Feng, some things shouldn’t be shared, but since it’s you, I won’t hide it,” Yuan Shu said gravely.
“The instability my master spoke of isn’t caused by contemporary martial cultivators.”
“It’s creatures from the ancient era.”
“Creatures from the ancient era?” Chu Feng’s heart stirred, and he quickly asked, “What’s going on?”
“You’ve likely heard about the ancient era, Brother Chu Feng.”
“Ancient martial cultivators were incredibly powerful, but for some reason, they suddenly vanished.”
“As a result, there’s a blank period in the history of martial cultivation.”
“Later, we contemporary martial cultivators emerged.”
“Despite the efforts of many predecessors, martial arts have reached a peak today.”
“But whether it’s weapons, treasures, or techniques and skills, they still seem inferior to what the ancient cultivators left behind.”
“Because of this, many believe ancient cultivators were stronger than us.”
“But no one knows why they vanished, leaving that blank period.”
“Though the ancient cultivators disappeared, ancient creatures still exist.”
“They mostly dwell deep underground, as if living in a separate world, each minding their own.”
“And in the depths of the Reincarnation Upper Realm, such ancient creatures lurk.”
“Everything was fine until recently, when these creatures started growing restless.”
Yuan Shu’s eyes filled with worry.
“Are these ancient creatures planning to return to our world and challenge us?” Chu Feng asked.
“Their intentions aren’t clear, but what is certain is they don’t seem friendly toward us.”
“If they don’t emerge, it’s fine. But if they do, it won’t be good,” Yuan Shu said.
“Hiss—”
Chu Feng couldn’t help but gasp.
Though he’d suspected Master Tang Chen’s “instability” was serious, he hadn’t expected it to be this complex.
Chu Feng had encountered ancient creatures before in the Ancestral Martial Lower Realm.
Back then, ferocious ancient beasts had emerged from the ground in the Holy Land of Martialism, extremely savage and powerful.
But those were just from the Ancestral Martial Lower Realm.
The ancient creatures in the Reincarnation Upper Realm were surely far stronger.
Otherwise, someone like Master Tang Chen, a prominent figure in the Holy Light Galaxy, wouldn’t take it so seriously.
He was likely among the top figures in the Holy Light Galaxy.
For such a person to be so concerned, this could be something that changes the fate of the entire Holy Light Galaxy.
“What happened in the ancient era?”
“Did these ancient creatures wipe out the ancient cultivators?”
“Are they returning now to wipe us out?”
“Why wait until now? What’s their purpose?”
Chu Feng’s mind swirled with questions.
He’d lost count of how many times he’d pondered the mysteries of the ancient era.
But without fail, he never found answers.
The ancient era remained an enigma, not just to him but to everyone else as well.
