Chu Feng and the others began exploring the Tomb of the Demon-Slaying Emperor.
At first, they proceeded cautiously, but were astonished to find no traps within.
Through their exploration, they discovered that the map they had obtained was indeed genuine.
The internal structure of the Emperor’s Tomb matched their map exactly.
In such conditions, Chu Feng and his group felt like fish in water.
…
However, a problem soon arose.
Though there were no traps in the tomb, and the map marked areas where treasures were stored, when they reached those locations, they found a door.
The door was indestructible and impossible to break, leaving them helpless.
Moreover, they later discovered that every treasure location was guarded by such an unyielding door.
“What do we do? We went through so much to get in, only to find we can’t take anything.”
“If we wait longer, the Zhutian Sect will arrive, and we’ll just watch them take the treasures,” the Secret Cave Saints said, fraught with anxiety.
They had tried various methods to break the door, even using powerful treasures, but all to no avail.
“Let me see the map again,” Chu Feng said.
Though unsure of his intentions, the Secret Cave Saints handed him the map again.
In truth, Chu Feng had already studied the map and memorised every detail.
His request to see it again was to confirm a suspicion.
To verify his guess.
“As I thought, there’s no such thing as a free lunch,” Chu Feng said.
“The outer barrier of the Demon-Slaying Emperor’s Tomb was so formidable, yet inside, there’s not a single trap. That’s completely illogical, but now… it finally makes sense.”
After reviewing the map, a knowing smile curved Chu Feng’s lips.
“Brother Shura, have you discovered something?” the Secret Cave Saints asked eagerly.
“To open these doors, we need specific treasures,” Chu Feng explained.
“You mentioned that the Zhutian Sect has been preparing for years to enter this tomb and has acquired many items to unlock it. I suspect among those are the keys to these doors.”
“Exactly, we thought of that, which is why we’re so worried,” the leader of the Secret Cave Saints said.
“We came early to gain the advantage, but if we can’t do anything, isn’t it all for nothing?”
“Not necessarily. Since we got here first, we have a chance to seize the initiative,” Chu Feng replied.
“Brother Shura, what exactly have you found? Just tell us,” the Secret Cave Saints urged impatiently.
“I think, despite the Demon-Slaying Emperor making his resting place heavily fortified, he intended for these treasures to be found. Otherwise, he could’ve hidden them somewhere unknown,” Chu Feng said.
“He wanted these treasures to be passed down to future generations, which is why he left clues to unlock them.”
“There are only two ways to obtain his treasures. The first is to find the corresponding keys to open these doors. If I’m not mistaken, each key opens only one door.”
“The other method is more impressive: earning the Demon-Slaying Emperor’s approval. If you gain his recognition, every door here can be opened.”
“How do we gain that qualification?” the Secret Cave Saints asked.
“There’s a place where we can try. Follow me,” Chu Feng said, leading the way, with the Secret Cave Saints hurrying after him.
The Tomb of the Demon-Slaying Emperor was vast, and though they had only explored a small part, the map gave them a clear understanding of its layout.
However, the place Chu Feng led them to was not on the map.
It was a corridor, hidden in a very discreet location.
Though there were no barriers to entering, without Chu Feng’s guidance, they likely wouldn’t have noticed it so quickly.
The corridor was unremarkable and easily overlooked.
Even if they had found it, it didn’t appear to house any treasures, so it would’ve been ignored.
In other words, without Chu Feng, the Secret Cave Saints might have discovered the entrance but wouldn’t have bothered entering, at least not until they had explored the entire tomb.
The corridor was narrow, growing more dilapidated the further they went.
As they ventured deeper, a dangerous aura emerged, unsettling the Secret Cave Saints and putting them on edge.
Yet Chu Feng pressed forward without slowing.
Strangely, despite the intensifying dangerous aura, they encountered no actual threats along the way.
Finally, they passed through the narrow corridor.
The moment they emerged, the Secret Cave Saints’ eyes lit up.
They looked at Chu Feng again, their gazes filled with newfound admiration.
