Chu Feng and Long Daozhi had arrived in the Heaven-Devouring Star Field.
They were still within an ancient teleportation array, traveling through a teleportation channel toward their destination, Fengxian Upper Realm.
Fengxian Upper Realm was where Long Daozhi had arranged to meet four other clans of his kin.
To speed up the journey, Long Daozhi used a special chariot within the teleportation array, significantly increasing their travel speed.
Suddenly, the chariot began to shake.
Even the hall inside, where they rested, trembled violently.
“What’s happening?” Chu Feng, who had been cultivating with closed eyes, snapped them open.
As a World Spiritist, he had a bad feeling.
But Long Daozhi remained seated, his face calm.
“Little friend Chu Feng, no need to worry. It’s just turbulence in the teleportation array. It’ll stabilise soon,” Long Daozhi explained.
“It doesn’t seem that simple,” Chu Feng said. “Senior, listen carefully. There’s a roaring sound in the wind, and it’s terrifying. I rarely hear such a fearsome roar. It suggests the source is an extremely powerful beast.”

The wind causing the chariot’s shaking came from the front.

The scene was eerie.

Logically, all ancient teleportation arrays in the Holy Light Galaxy should function similarly, with no exceptions.
Yet, this teleportation channel clearly had an anomaly.
“Chu Feng, do you know why this place is called the Heaven-Devouring Star Field? In ancient times, a giant beast called the Heaven-Devouring Beast lived here. Modern cultivators call it the Ancient Heaven-Devouring Beast,” Long Daozhi explained. “It’s said they loved cultivating within ancient teleportation arrays. Over time, their voices lingered in these arrays. Though they vanished in ancient times, their roars can still occasionally be heard in the Heaven-Devouring Star Field’s arrays.”
“I see,” Chu Feng said. “But if they disappeared in ancient times, how do people know about them?”
“Though the Ancient Heaven-Devouring Beasts vanished, many of their remains were left behind, mostly fragments. Only one complete skeleton exists. World Spiritists used it to fully reconstruct their appearance. Even though it’s a reconstruction, the skeleton’s aura, being from the beast itself, carries an extraordinary presence, unlike common creatures. Even I felt insignificant before it. Suddenly, roars echoed from ahead, and the gusts sweeping over them grew fiercer.

A loud rumble shook the chariot, and it abruptly stopped.
Despite the teleportation array’s current pushing forward, the chariot remained stationary.
This alarmed both Chu Feng and Long Daozhi.
They left the hall, moving to the chariot’s front to investigate.
Suddenly, a pair of massive eyes appeared in the dark channel ahead, glowing red and tinting the surroundings blood-red.
Then, with another roar, a colossal beast emerged before the chariot.
It was a creature ten thousand meters long.
Before it, the chariot seemed insignificant, and Chu Feng and Long Daozhi were like specks of dust.
Seeing the beast, Chu Feng’s heart tightened. One glance told him how terrifying it was.
Its eyes were blood-red, its body pitch-black, with a crocodile-like head, a rhinoceros-like body, and a back covered in black scales, bearing two pairs of wings.
The wings, larger than its body, stirred hurricanes with each flap, making the chariot teeter on the brink of destruction.

Its presence made even Long Daozhi show fear.
“How is this possible? Could a living Ancient Heaven-Devouring Beast still exist in this teleportation array?” Long Daozhi exclaimed in shock.

He had never seen one, but according to Long Daozhi, these powerful ancient beasts should be extinct.
Clearly, they were not, as this legendary creature now stood vividly before him.
Before he could think further, the beast opened its mouth.
A roar accompanied a powerful suction force.
The force enveloped Chu Feng, who had no chance to resist.
In an instant, he was sucked into the beast’s mouth.
After swallowing Chu Feng, the beast turned and vanished.
With its disappearance, the chariot resumed moving, carried by the array’s current.
Everything returned to normal.
The strange winds and roars ceased.
The chariot, undamaged, continued smoothly.
But Chu Feng was gone.
Long Daozhi stood frozen, as if in shock, only recovering after a long moment.
“How could this happen? The legendary Ancient Heaven-Devouring Beast is alive and swallowed little friend Chu Feng. But why spare me? Am I not even worth its meal? What is going on?” Long Daozhi, still shaken, was filled with questions.
