“Elder Hanxun, seeing your joy, it seems you’ve found the Heavenly Vein Spring Water,” the Zuoqiu Heavenly Clan Leader said.
“Clan Leader, the heavens truly bless our clan!” Zuoqiu Hanxun beamed, his wrinkled face unable to hide his delight. “My trip to Thunderstrike Forest not only secured the Heavenly Vein Spring Water but also uncovered something extraordinary.”
“Oh? An unexpected gain, Elder Hanxun?” the Clan Leader asked, intrigued.
“Indeed,” Zuoqiu Hanxun replied, producing the Thunder Pearl.
Seeing it, both the Clan Leader and Zuoqiu Daoyi’s eyes lit up. As Heavenly Bloodline holders, they recognized its potency.
“Found in Thunderstrike Forest?” the Clan Leader asked. “I never expected such a treasure there. With this, activating the Heavenly Thunder Ancient Array should be assured. All we lack now is the Thunder Catalyst.”
“Has the Thunder Catalyst not been found?” the Clan Leader turned to Zuoqiu Daoyi.
“Father, some elders seeking it haven’t returned,” Zuoqiu Daoyi replied. “Those who have brought back catalysts, but they’re substandard, far from what’s needed.”
“We can’t delay with preparations complete,” the Clan Leader said. “We must resort to the second option.”
“Father, that’s unwise. If word spreads, it will chill our clan’s hearts,” Zuoqiu Daoyi objected.
“Great achievements require sacrifice,” the Clan Leader countered. “This is for our clan’s future. The clan will understand.”
“But Father…” Zuoqiu Daoyi hesitated, aware of the second option’s cruelty.
“Young Master Daoyi, time is pressing,” Zuoqiu Hanxun interjected. “We’ve spent immense wealth on heavenly treasures to activate the array, some with time limits. If unused, they’re wasted. The array itself is crumbling; it won’t last long. We must act swiftly, or all will be for naught.”
Zuoqiu Daoyi nodded reluctantly, accepting his father’s decision.
“Elder Hanxun, you will select the Thunder Catalyst,” the Clan Leader instructed.
Zuoqiu Hanxun’s face darkened but he quickly saluted. “As you command.” It was a grim task, but he dared not defy the Clan Leader.
“Daoyi, where’s Tiansheng?” the Clan Leader asked.
“Father, I’ll fetch him,” Zuoqiu Daoyi replied.
“No, we’ll go together,” the Clan Leader said, leaping into the air, with Zuoqiu Daoyi following closely.
…
Chu Feng and Fu Mo Shaoyu followed the tracking talisman, expecting to head to the Heavenly Thunder Ancient Array.
Instead, they stopped at a picturesque land of towering mountains, cascading waterfalls, and lush forests.
Atop the highest peak stood a cluster of palaces.
There, they found not only Fu Mo Xin’er but also Zuoqiu Tiansheng, the Zuoqiu Heavenly Clan’s genius.
Perhaps to be alone with Fu Mo Xin’er, only the two of them were in the palace complex.
Zuoqiu Tiansheng, dashing and suave, looked every bit the charming playboy.
He hovered around Fu Mo Xin’er, who was bound by special ropes to a chair.
Yet, he hadn’t overstepped, instead personally preparing a lavish feast, unlike typical playboys who resort to force.
He aimed to win her heart with charm.
“Dear lady, try this soup. I guarantee you’ll love it. If it doesn’t suit you, you can strike me dead,” Zuoqiu Tiansheng said with an eager smile, offering her a bowl.
“Get lost,” Fu Mo Xin’er snapped, kicking out fiercely.
Caught off guard, Zuoqiu Tiansheng stumbled back, the soup spilling and splashing over him.
Yet, he wasn’t angry; his smile widened. “My lady, what a fiery temper. I like it.”
Turning to fetch another dish, a sudden martial energy beam crashed from the sky, obliterating the table of delicacies into ash.
Startled, Zuoqiu Tiansheng looked up to see Chu Feng and Fu Mo Shaoyu in the sky.
“Who dares ruin the feast I prepared for my lady? I’ll have your lives!” he roared, his face twisting with rage and killing intent.
Leaping upward, he attacked them, his intent to kill genuine.
“Brother Chu Feng, stay back. Let me teach this scum a lesson and avenge my sister,” Fu Mo Shaoyu said, charging at Zuoqiu Tiansheng.
Zuoqiu Tiansheng was a Second Rank Supreme, but Fu Mo Shaoyu was a Third Rank Supreme, clearly outmatching him.
