The two headed up the mountain. When they reached the summit again, the six people were gone, likely having met their end.
The straw hut, however, remained.
Ye Xuan looked at it. At the hut’s entrance stood a middle-aged man.
Dressed in a simple yet elegant robe, his hands clasped behind his back, the man’s gaze was cold.
Seeing Ye Xuan and Yun Qi, his brows furrowed. His eyes soon locked onto Ye Xuan.
Yun Qi paused, then turned to Ye Xuan, sizing him up.
Ye Xuan asked, “Why are you looking at me?”
Yun Qi said, “They seem to be wary of you.”
Wary of me?
Ye Xuan glanced at the man. “Really?”
Yun Qi shook her head and looked at the man. “Qian Boundary?”
Qian Boundary glanced at her. “Northern Sect.”
Yun Qi nodded.
After a moment’s silence, Qian Boundary asked, “What are you two here for?”
His tone softened considerably.
Neither could be trifled with.
Yun Qi blinked. “Got any legacies?”
Qian Boundary glanced at her. “None.”
None.
Yun Qi frowned slightly. “None?”
Qian Boundary said, “None.”
Yun Qi said, “Only we know you’re alive. The Dao Sect doesn’t. Want to silence us?”
Qian Boundary stared at her, silent.
Ye Xuan tugged at Yun Qi’s sleeve. “Threatening people isn’t nice.”
Yun Qi said, “You talk then.”
Ye Xuan thought for a moment, then said, “Senior, we’re just passing through. Keep healing. Don’t worry, we won’t snitch.”
Yun Qi quickly added, “Absolutely not. Unless we’re broke.”
Ye Xuan’s expression froze.
Qian Boundary, surprisingly, wasn’t angry. He glanced at Yun Qi. “I’ve had rough years. Money? I really don’t have any. As for a legacy, you’re from the Northern Sect. You probably wouldn’t care for mine.”
He pointed to the right. “A thousand miles that way, there’s a cave called Heaven’s Mansion. Wan Li was healing there. I don’t know if he’s still alive, but he had many treasures. You can try your luck.”
Yun Qi and Ye Xuan glanced in that direction. Yun Qi asked, “The Boundary Ruler is with you, right?”
Qian Boundary’s eyes narrowed, a cold glint flashing within.
Yun Qi looked at him. “That thing will bring you great trouble.”
Qian Boundary said gravely, “Are you going to snitch?”
Yun Qi smiled. “If you stay hidden, you might survive a bit longer. But now…”
She opened her palm, and a scroll floated to Qian Boundary.
He opened it, and his face darkened.
Yun Qi said, “If I can get this information, others can too. If you were at your peak, you might not fear them. But now…”
She shook her head. “How much of your peak strength do you have left?”
Qian Boundary was silent.
Yun Qi looked at him. “You gain only by letting go.”
Qian Boundary remained silent.
Yun Qi smiled faintly. “Let’s go.”
As they turned to leave, Qian Boundary suddenly said, “I’ll give you the Boundary Ruler. What’s in it for me?”
Yun Qi glanced at him. “If I were less polite, do you think you’d still be standing here talking?”
Qian Boundary’s face turned grim.
Yun Qi said no more and walked away.
Ye Xuan followed.
Qian Boundary suddenly called, “I’ll give it to you.”
Yun Qi didn’t look back. “I don’t want it anymore.”
Qian Boundary: “…”
As Yun Qi and Ye Xuan descended, over a dozen terrifying auras swept across the sky toward Boundary Mountain.
The weakest among them was Order Realm, and the leader, an old man, was Heavenly End Realm.
Heavenly End Realm.
Seeing this lineup, Ye Xuan’s expression grew serious.
Suddenly, Qian Boundary’s furious roar echoed from the mountain. “How dare you.”
With his roar, explosions erupted from the summit, unleashing devastating forces.
In less than a breath, Boundary Mountain turned to nothing.
A piercing scream rang out from the sky.
Below, Yun Qi shook her head slightly.
Ye Xuan glanced upward as the dozen powerful auras retreated.
Ye Xuan asked, “Who are they?”
Yun Qi said, “The Heavenly Sect from the Heavenly Realm, one of the three realms.”
Heavenly Sect.
Ye Xuan looked at her. “Who’s stronger, Northern Sect or Heavenly Sect?”
Yun Qi said, “Northern Sect.”
Ye Xuan was puzzled. “Then why didn’t you take the Boundary Ruler?”
Yun Qi shook her head. “Qian Boundary annoyed me. A Heavenly End Realm expert, so indecisive. Disappointing. If he can’t let go, why should I bother? Let him die.”
Ye Xuan: “…”
Yun Qi said, “Let’s check out that Heaven’s Mansion.”
Ye Xuan nodded slightly.
They headed toward Heaven’s Mansion.
As if struck by a thought, he glanced back and asked, “Is Qian Boundary really dead?”
Yun Qi nodded. “The Heavenly Sect won’t let him live. They don’t fear a Heavenly End Realm expert, but if he recovers and seeks revenge in secret, they’d be wary.”
Ye Xuan nodded, saying no more.
Qian Boundary was indeed too indecisive.
Yun Qi added, “I gave him a chance, letting him know others are aware he’s alive. But he still clung to hope.”
She shook her head. “I don’t know how he reached Heavenly End Realm. Some people value possessions too much, not understanding sacrifice. It ends up harming them.”
Ye Xuan smiled. “Let’s not dwell on it. To Heaven’s Mansion. Maybe we’ll find something there.”
Yun Qi nodded. “Good.”
Suddenly, an old man appeared before them.
Ye Xuan frowned. It was the old man who led the attack on Qian Boundary.
The old man stared at Yun Qi, silent.
Yun Qi pointed to the right with her jade finger. “Scram.”
Ye Xuan: “…”
The old man gave Yun Qi a deep look, said nothing, and vanished.
Ye Xuan stepped beside her. “Are they much weaker than you?”
Yun Qi said, “Not really.”
Ye Xuan was confused. “Then why was he so scared of you?”
Yun Qi turned to him. “Don’t I look like a master?”
She walked off.
Ye Xuan watched her, silent.
To be honest, Yun Qi hadn’t fought once. She relied on divine artifacts in danger.
Was she a master?
He studied her. Her figure was indeed impressive.
…
Elsewhere, the Heavenly Sect old man watched Ye Xuan and Yun Qi from afar, joined by a dozen top-tier Order Realm experts.
A middle-aged man behind him said gravely, “Elder Yang, why is that woman here?”
Elder Yang shook his head. “I don’t know.”
The man hesitated, then asked, “Will she interfere with us…”
Elder Yang was silent for a moment, then said, “Don’t provoke her. Remember that.”
He turned and vanished.
The others followed.
…
Ye Xuan and Yun Qi reached the foot of a mountain. They looked up at the towering peak. Yun Qi said softly, “Qian Boundary mentioned a cave here. Where is it?”
Ye Xuan scanned the mountain but found nothing.
Yun Qi said, “There’s probably some concealment.”
She looked at Ye Xuan. “Have your pen check.”
Ye Xuan nodded, opened his palm, and the Great Dao Pen appeared. “Little Pen, take a look.”
The pen said gravely, “I’m not a treasure hunter. I don’t have that function.”
Ye Xuan gave an awkward smile. “Just check for anything special.”
The pen was silent, then said, “Nothing special.”
Ye Xuan was speechless.
The pen added, “But there’s a faint soul aura, very subtle.”
Ye Xuan’s eyes narrowed. “Where?”
The pen said, “I can sense it but not its exact location.”
Ye Xuan’s face darkened.
The pen suddenly said, “I can’t locate it, but Little Soul can.”
Little Soul.
Ye Xuan froze. How had he forgotten Little Soul?
He pulled out the Qingxuan Sword. Yun Qi’s eyes lit up. “Wow, this sword… incredible.”
She rushed to Ye Xuan and touched the sword.
Ye Xuan said calmly, “Just an ordinary sword, nothing special.”
Yun Qi shook her head. “No, no. This sword is extraordinary, full of mysteries.”
She looked at Ye Xuan. “Who made it?”
Ye Xuan said, “My sister.”
Yun Qi nodded. “Your sister’s impressive. Very impressive.”
She took the sword, examining it, and sighed, “What a sword. What a sword.”
Ye Xuan looked at her. “Are you thinking of killing me for it?”
Yun Qi blinked. “Don’t talk nonsense. I wouldn’t. I’m not that kind of person…”
Ye Xuan was speechless.
Sure you’re not.
Damn, I can feel your killing intent.
