Miracle Doctor Chapter 1144

The middle-aged man had called in a group of police officers.

Leading them was a man in his fifties, with a square face, thick brows, and large eyes, exuding an air of authority without anger.

“Old Cao, what’s the situation?”

The man scanned the room and asked.

It was clear he and the middle-aged man were well-acquainted.

“Sorry to make you come all this way, Old Wei,” the middle-aged man said, pointing at Ye Qiu. “This guy assaulted Teacher Xu and the school security, completely lawless and arrogant. Take him back and interrogate him thoroughly.”

The man glanced at Ye Qiu, noticing his calm demeanour, which struck him as odd. How could someone who’d just attacked others be so composed?

This suggested one of two things: either this person had powerful backing, or he was out of his mind.

Ye Qiu didn’t seem like the latter.

The man whispered, “Old Cao, what’s this guy’s deal?”

“His wife runs a beauty salon, has a bit of money,” the middle-aged man said. “Don’t worry, dealing with him won’t cause any trouble. If he were some big shot, wouldn’t we know him with our status?”

“Fair point,” the man chuckled, stepping toward Ye Qiu. “Young man, let me introduce myself. I’m Wei Liming.”

“Don’t know you,” Ye Qiu said flatly.

The middle-aged man interjected, “Kid, Old Wei is the head of Jiangzhou’s police bureau.”

Ye Qiu’s expression didn’t waver. “So what?”

“So what?”

The middle-aged man looked at Ye Qiu like he was an idiot.

“Let me tell you, Old Wei oversees all police matters in the city. With one word, he can lock you and your daughter up for life. What do you think happens then?”

To his surprise, Ye Qiu showed no fear, instead smiling at Wei Liming. “You want to arrest me?”

“Put me in prison?”

“If you think you’ve got what it takes, go ahead and try.”

Wei Liming’s face shifted slightly.

He wasn’t angry but puzzled.

Normally, people would either grovel or tremble upon learning his identity, yet this young man showed no fear, his words dripping with defiance.

Was this guy really just someone with a bit of money?

Wei Liming studied Ye Qiu, finding him vaguely familiar but unable to place where he’d seen him.

Far more cautious than the middle-aged man, he smiled and said, “Young man, no need to get worked up. I’m just here to understand the situation. By the way, how should I address you?”

“Ye Qiu!”

Ye Qiu?

The name sounded familiar, like he’d heard it somewhere.

Wei Liming was certain he knew the name but racked his brain to no avail.

The middle-aged man grew impatient, urging, “Old Wei, why waste time with him? Take him back to the station and give him a proper interrogation. He’s so cocky, he might even have a murder case on him.”

Wei Liming didn’t act rashly, asking, “Young man, what do you do for work?”

“Doctor,” Ye Qiu said coolly.

Ye Qiu, doctor…

Boom!

It was like lightning struck Wei Liming’s mind. His body jolted, and he stared at Ye Qiu in shock.

At that moment, he wanted to strangle the middle-aged man.

Wei Liming had recently transferred to Jiangzhou. Before taking up his post, he’d visited Deputy Mayor Huang, who briefed him on the city’s situation, specifically mentioning a few key figures, with Ye Qiu at the top of the list.

Deputy Mayor Huang had warned Wei Liming never to cross Ye Qiu and even shared details of Ye Qiu’s identity.

After arriving, Wei Liming had gone to the hospital twice to build a connection with Ye Qiu, but Ye Qiu wasn’t there.

He’d seen Ye Qiu’s photo on the wall outside the Traditional Chinese Medicine department’s office.

He never imagined he’d meet Ye Qiu in person here.

Seeing Wei Liming frozen like a statue, the middle-aged man pressed, “Old Wei, what are you standing there for? Arrest him already…”

“Shut up!” Wei Liming glared at the man, then turned to Ye Qiu respectfully. “Mr. Ye, my apologies, I didn’t recognise you earlier. Please don’t take offence.”

“You know him well?” Ye Qiu gestured at the middle-aged man.

Cold sweat beaded on Wei Liming’s forehead as he hurriedly said, “Mr. Ye, I swear, I’ve only met Cao Chunhua at a few meetings, nothing more.”

The middle-aged man wasn’t pleased. “Old Wei, I’ve treated you to dinner!”

Damn it, are you trying to get me killed?

“Yes, you treated me to dinner, but that was work-related,” Wei Liming said, bowing slightly. “Mr. Ye, I’m new to Jiangzhou and visited the hospital to meet you, but your colleagues said you weren’t there, so I missed the chance.”

“I never expected to meet you under these circumstances.”

“Mr. Ye, why don’t you head back? I’ll handle things here.”

Ye Qiu said coldly, “This is a small matter, no need to trouble Director Wei. I can handle it myself.”

It’s over, Cao Chunhua’s done for today.

Wei Liming quickly moved to stand behind Ye Qiu, saying, “Mr. Ye, I’ll stay here. If you need anything, just let me know, and I’ll do my utmost.”

Cao Chunhua wasn’t a fool. Seeing Wei Liming act so subservient to Ye Qiu, like a lackey, he realised Ye Qiu must have significant backing.

Still, he wasn’t afraid, as he had his own connections.

“Old Wei, what’s gotten into you today…”

Fearing Cao Chunhua would say something reckless, Wei Liming cut him off sharply, “Cao Chunhua, do you know who Mr. Ye is? Let me tell you, he’s the greatest medical sage in Chinese medicine in three hundred years.”

Medical sage?

Cao Chunhua paused, then laughed at Ye Qiu. “No wonder you looked familiar. When you were named a medical sage, Jiangzhou media covered it. I saw your news.”

“But I don’t need your medical services, and I’ve never believed Chinese medicine can heal people, so no matter how great your skills are, they’re worthless to me.”

“Today, I’m going to make sure you…”

“Cao Chunhua!” Wei Liming shouted, frantically signalling him with his eyes.

But Cao Chunhua ignored him.

“Old Wei, you won’t arrest him because he helped you, right? Fine, I won’t make it hard for you. If that’s the case, I’ll find someone who can deal with him.”

“I refuse to believe a mere doctor can turn the tables.”

“Today, I’ll show him that in Jiangzhou, crossing me is a dead end.”

Cao Chunhua pulled out his phone and made a call.

After a few words, he hung up, sneering at Ye Qiu, “Kid, the person to deal with you is on the way. Your doom is coming.”
