“You know me?”
As Ye Qiu spoke, he subtly signalled the Long Eyebrow Immortal with a glance. The latter understood, preparing to act.
Li Chengdi smiled and said, “This is my first time meeting you, but I’ve seen your photo many times. I had planned to visit Jiangzhou to find you after leaving here, but I didn’t expect to meet you now. It seems fate has arranged it.”
Ye Qiu asked, “Why are you looking for me?”
Li Chengdi replied, “You must know who Li Zhengxi is, don’t you?”
Ye Qiu’s heart jolted. Was this man seeking revenge for Li Zhengxi? “Li Zhengxi was the Medical Saint of Korea,” Ye Qiu said.
“He was more than that,” Li Chengdi said. “He was my son.”
What? Li Zhengxi was Li Chengdi’s son? Ye Qiu felt puzzled. If Li Chengdi was truly Li Zhengxi’s father, why didn’t he protect him? Or, when Ye Qiu killed Li Zhengxi and his son, why didn’t Li Chengdi appear?
Li Chengdi continued, “To be precise, Li Zhengxi was my stepson. His mother was one of my many women. His life or death meant nothing to me, but when his mother learned of his and Li Minghan’s deaths, she couldn’t bear it and passed away. Before she died, she wrote me a letter, asking me to avenge Li Zhengxi. Though I hadn’t seen her in decades, we once shared a bond. How could I betray a mother’s dying wish? So, Ye Qiu, you should now understand why I’m here.”
Ye Qiu’s heart sank. He was right; Li Chengdi had come to avenge Li Zhengxi. But this man was a King Realm expert over a century ago. How terrifying was his cultivation now?
Ye Qiu signalled the Long Eyebrow Immortal again, indicating to prepare to flee.
Li Chengdi noticed and smiled. “Ye Qiu, I advise you to abandon any thoughts of escape. You have no chance of getting away from me. Even if you know some secret technique to escape, I’ll go to Jiangzhou and visit your women. Other men’s women are always so enticing.”
He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and looked intoxicated. Instantly, murderous intent surged in Ye Qiu’s heart.
Li Chengdi added, “Of course, I’m much older and far stronger than you. Killing you outright would seem like bullying. So, I’ll give you a chance. If you choose to end your own life, you’ll suffer less. What do you say?”
Before Ye Qiu could respond, the Long Eyebrow Immortal said, “Li Chengdi, has anyone told you your smile is utterly vile?”
Ye Qiu recognised the phrase; he’d once said it to the Long Eyebrow Immortal. Though outmatched in cultivation, the Long Eyebrow Immortal didn’t back down verbally. “Li Chengdi, don’t think we’re scared of you just because you’re Korea’s Guardian. This is China’s territory. Act arrogant here, and you might not know how you’ll die.”
Li Chengdi said coldly, “I’m talking to Ye Qiu. What gives a dog like you the right to interrupt?”
With a flash, Li Chengdi moved as he spoke.
“Watch out!” Ye Qiu shouted, trying to block him, but Li Chengdi was too fast. In a blur, a loud slap rang out. Ye Qiu turned to see the Long Eyebrow Immortal flying backwards.
Ye Qiu was shocked. Li Chengdi was no ordinary King Realm expert. The Long Eyebrow Immortal, an early-stage Venerable, hadn’t even had time to dodge, showing Li Chengdi’s terrifying strength.
The Long Eyebrow Immortal, slapped hard, spat blood, his face half-swollen. “Damn you for hitting my face. I’ll fight you to the death!”
He scrambled up, unleashing the Five Thunder Orthodox Method. With a boom, five bucket-thick lightning bolts appeared, striking at Li Chengdi.
“Child’s play,” Li Chengdi sneered, raising his hand. The lightning bolts froze in mid-air, as if under a spell.
The Long Eyebrow Immortal gaped in shock. With a clench of Li Chengdi’s fist, a crack sounded, and the lightning vanished.
“This…” The Long Eyebrow Immortal rubbed his eyes, as if he’d seen a ghost.
Ignoring him, Li Chengdi looked at Ye Qiu. “Have you decided? Will you end your life, or shall I do it myself? I warn you, if you choose the former, you’ll leave a whole corpse. If I act, not even your ashes will remain.”
His demeanour was arrogant, his tone domineering, as if Ye Qiu were already a dead man.
The Long Eyebrow Immortal shouted, “Li Chengdi, don’t get cocky. Ye Qiu’s father, Ye Wushuang, is China’s top expert. Touch Ye Qiu, and you’ll have no place to be buried.”
“You think I don’t know Ye Qiu’s background?” Li Chengdi smiled faintly. “I’d love for Ye Wushuang to show up. I’ve long wanted to test the skills of China’s top expert. Unfortunately, he’s probably at Kunlun Mountain now. No matter. After I kill Ye Qiu, I’ll visit Kunlun. Not for Ye Wushuang, though; he’s not worth my personal attention. I’m going to kill that cultivator at Kunlun.”
The Long Eyebrow Immortal was horrified. He hadn’t expected Li Chengdi to be so audacious as to target Ziyang Tianzun.
“Big words. If you’re so capable, go to Kunlun now!” the Long Eyebrow Immortal retorted.
“I’ll go to Kunlun, but first, I’ll kill Ye Qiu,” Li Chengdi said, his smile turning cold. “It seems you’re not choosing to end your life. In that case, I’ll have to do it myself. Ye Qiu, any last words? I can pass them to your father.”
Ye Qiu sneered, “Many have tried to kill me, including King Realm experts. In the end, they all died, and I survived. Li Chengdi, you want to kill me? I’ll give you four words: wishful thinking.”
Li Chengdi wasn’t angered. He smiled. “I’m different from them. You’ll find out soon enough if I can kill you.”
With a boom, he extended a single finger, pointing at Ye Qiu from a distance.
