Elder Tang summoning him?
Ye Qiu’s eyes narrowed, sensing the matter was serious. He asked, “War God, why does Elder Tang need me?”
“You’ll find out when you get there. Remember, head to Beijing immediately.” War God hung up.
Ye Qiu frowned, deep in thought.
“What’s wrong?” Qin Wan asked.
“Elder Tang summoned me to Beijing right away,” Ye Qiu said.
“Then go quickly. I’ll book your ticket,” Qin Wan replied.
Ye Qiu hugged her reluctantly. “Wan Sister, I’m sorry. I was planning for tonight…”
“I understand,” Qin Wan said softly. “You owe me this time. Make it up when you’re back.”
“Deal.”
*Smack!*
Ye Qiu kissed Qin Wan and hurried to the airport.
Three hours later, the plane landed at Beijing Capital International Airport.
As Ye Qiu exited, he saw Ye Wuwei standing by a grand Hongqi sedan, dressed in a suit, smiling warmly.
“Second Uncle!”
Ye Qiu greeted him.
Ye Wuwei laughed, “Ye Qiu, you’ve got clout. Not only am I picking you up personally, but Grandpa lent you his car.”
“Second Uncle, do you know what’s going on?” Ye Qiu asked.
Ye Wuwei shook his head, chuckling. “I’m not in politics. How would I know classified matters? Get in, Elder Tang’s waiting.”
Ye Qiu nodded, sliding into the passenger seat.
Ye Wuwei drove toward the August First Building.
“By the way, have you spoken to your father recently? I called him today, but it didn’t go through,” Ye Wuwei said.
“My dad entered the cultivation world by mistake and left Kunlun Mountain,” Ye Qiu said.
“Oh?” Ye Wuwei was surprised. “And your mother?”
“I brought her back to Jiangzhou,” Ye Qiu replied, then asked, “Second Uncle, you really don’t know what’s happening?”
“I truly don’t. If I’d heard anything, I’d tell you,” Ye Wuwei said, his tone shifting. “But I can tell it’s not simple.”
“How so?” Ye Qiu asked.
“Elder Tang called both Grandpa and War God. If it weren’t a major national issue, he wouldn’t involve Grandpa, who’s been retired for years,” Ye Wuwei explained.
Ye Qiu’s eyes flickered with curiosity. What could it be?
Half an hour later, the Hongqi sedan pulled up at the August First Building.
Thanks to Grandpa Ye’s car and special permits, no one questioned them.
“This is as far as I go,” Ye Wuwei said.
“Thanks, Second Uncle,” Ye Qiu said, stepping out.
“Oh, Ye Qiu, come home for dinner after you’re done. Your aunt heard you were coming and went shopping. She hasn’t cooked in years, but her food beats any five-star chef,” Ye Wuwei added.
“Alright,” Ye Qiu smiled, entering the building.
No longer just a minor soldier from Hades Hall, as War God of the Nation, his authority was immense. He passed through unchecked, with salutes from all he met.
“War God Ye!” A general with a single gold star approached, smiling.
“Where’s Elder Tang?” Ye Qiu asked.
“In his office. Follow me,” the general said, leading him to the ninth floor.
Soon, they reached Elder Tang’s office.
*Knock knock!*
“Elder Tang, War God Ye is here,” the general announced.
“Let him in,” Elder Tang’s voice came.
“War God Ye, please,” the general gestured, stepping aside.
“Thanks,” Ye Qiu said, entering.
Inside, he was surprised to see Elder Tang, Grandpa Ye, and War God chatting and laughing, not at all like something was wrong.
“Ye Qiu’s here? Sit,” Elder Tang pointed to an empty sofa.
Ye Qiu greeted them and sat.
“I heard about Wushuang. Recommending Longbrow Immortal for Kunlun is a good call. War God has settled it with him,” Elder Tang said, then added, “How’s your mother?”
“Thank you, she’s well,” Ye Qiu replied.
“Good,” Elder Tang chuckled. “I was just discussing with your grandpa. How about we pick a date for you and my granddaughter to tie the knot?”
Ye Qiu started, “Elder Tang, you called me to Beijing urgently for this?”
“What, you object?” Elder Tang’s gaze sharpened.
“I think we should ask Tangtang’s opinion,” Ye Qiu said.
“I did. She’s fine with it,” Elder Tang replied.
Ye Qiu said, “Marriage feels too soon. I want to focus on my career first.”
“You’re already War God and the first Medical Saint in three centuries. Still climbing? Want my seat?” Elder Tang teased.
Ye Qiu calmly explained, “You misunderstand. I wouldn’t dare take your place, even with ten thousand guts. Besides, I’m too free-spirited for such constraints.”
Elder Tang’s eyes gleamed. “Since you’re not ready for marriage, how about this: we arrange a meeting for our families, with War God as witness, and get you and my granddaughter engaged?”
Ye Qiu liked Tangtang, but his heart was set on marrying Lin Jingzhi. Still, with Elder Tang compromising, he couldn’t refuse outright, given Elder Tang’s supreme authority.
Ye Qiu hesitated, “Well…”
“Elder Tang, don’t put Ye Qiu on the spot. Let’s get to business,” Grandpa Ye interjected.
Elder Tang laughed, “As expected from Grandpa, always bailing him out. Fine, business it is.”
His face grew serious. “Ye Qiu, I called you because I’m facing a decision I can’t make.”
Ye Qiu listened silently, watching Elder Tang.
He knew the real reason for his summons was coming.
Seconds later, Elder Tang said, “The Vatican’s Prophet has asked for my help, requesting I send you to rescue her.”
Ye Qiu recalled the distress text. Could it be from the Prophet?
“What happened to her?” Ye Qiu asked.
“The Vatican’s Holy See faced a sudden crisis, attacked by experts from nine Middle Eastern nations. Half the disciples are dead or injured, the Pope was killed, and the Prophet is trapped, in dire straits!” Elder Tang said.
