“Boom!”
In the earth-shattering explosion, Joseph and the old woman turned to ashes like fireworks in an instant.
Two peak King realm experts had completely fallen.
Their self-destruction created quite a spectacle, its power comparable to two nuclear bombs.
Ye Qiu thought to himself, “I didn’t expect a cultivator’s self-destruction to have such power.”
“Fortunately, I used the God-Slaying Whip to send them flying. Otherwise, if they had detonated close to me, I might have been severely injured.”
“I’ll need to be more cautious of super experts self-destructing in future battles.”
Swish!
Ye Qiu turned, stepping back onto the city wall.
The next second, a fragrant breeze hit him as a soft figure threw herself into his arms.
“Thank you,” the Prophet said, holding Ye Qiu tightly, her voice full of gratitude.
“No need to thank me,” Ye Qiu smiled. “The enemies are dealt with, so you can rest easy now.”
“It’s unbelievable. If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I could hardly believe you took down all the nine nations’ experts.”
The Prophet looked up at Ye Qiu, her beautiful eyes sparkling with excitement and admiration.
Ye Qiu asked, “By the way, you mentioned nine nations’ experts. What’s the deal with the Kenny brothers?”
The Prophet explained, “Though the Kenny brothers are twins, they are guardians of two different nations, so they represent two countries.”
That made sense.
Ye Qiu glanced down, saying awkwardly, “Could you not hug so tightly? It’s a bit uncomfortable.”
Hearing this, the Prophet’s pretty face flushed, but instead of letting go, she held him even tighter, as if afraid he’d slip away.
“Ye Qiu, stay in the Vatican, please. If you stay, I can make you the king of the Vatican,” the Prophet said, her charming expression hard to resist.
Ye Qiu didn’t hesitate, replying, “No.”
His family, loved ones, and career were all in Huaguo. He could never leave.
Moreover, Ye Qiu was deeply traditional at heart, his creed being that he was born a Huaguo man and would die a Huaguo soul.
No matter what, he wouldn’t stay abroad.
Though the Prophet had anticipated his refusal, her face still showed disappointment at his answer.
Ye Qiu added, “But I can stay for two days.”
Instantly, the Prophet’s face bloomed with a radiant smile.
Ye Qiu glanced at her, noticing her dirty clothes and dishevelled appearance, and said, “Go take a bath and change. We’ll leave in half an hour.”
“Where to?” the Prophet asked.
Ye Qiu smiled faintly, “What do you think?”
At that, the Prophet seemed to understand, her face showing shock. She wanted to dissuade him, but Ye Qiu continued, “Anyone who bullies you will pay a price.”
Realising Ye Qiu was doing this for her, the Prophet’s heart sweetened, and she asked, “What’s your plan?”
“You’ll see when we get there,” Ye Qiu said. “Go bathe!”
“Alright,” the Prophet released him, turning to leave. After two steps, she looked back, winking at Ye Qiu, “Want to join me?”
“Sure…” Ye Qiu started, but the Prophet fled like a startled deer.
What’s that about?
Teasing me?
Hmph, I’ll make you pay later!
Standing on the city wall, Ye Qiu surveyed the devastated Vatican palace and the bloodied remains on the ground, his thoughts drifting to his homeland a century ago.
Back then, Huaguo was at the mercy of others, forced to cede land and pay reparations, stripped of dignity.
The reason? It was too backward.
To be backward was to be beaten.
But now, through the efforts of generation after generation, Huaguo had risen, achieving national strength, ethnic rejuvenation, and the happiness of its people.
Now, they had the power to crush any invading enemy.
Those who dare offend Huaguo, no matter how far, shall be punished!
Ye Qiu snapped out of his thoughts, pulled out his phone, and began making a call.
…
Bayi Building.
Elder Ye and the War God were still in Elder Tang’s office.
They had been waiting for Ye Qiu’s news.
The three elders smoked, the office filled with swirling smoke, the atmosphere heavy.
“Beep, beep, beep…”
The War God’s phone suddenly rang. Elder Tang and Elder Ye looked up, their gazes fixed on him.
The War God pulled out his phone, glanced at the caller ID, and said excitedly, “It’s Ye Qiu.”
“Answer it,” Elder Tang urged.
The War God connected the call, putting it on speaker, and asked, “Ye Qiu, how’s it going?”
Ye Qiu’s voice came through, saying, “Are you asking about me or the Vatican?”
Hearing this, the three elders relaxed slightly.
At least, from Ye Qiu’s tone, he seemed fine.
The War God barked, “Don’t beat around the bush. What’s the situation? Spill it.”
Ye Qiu finally said, “The Vatican’s crisis is over. I’ve rescued the Prophet.”
Phew.
The three elders exhaled in unison.
“Did the nine nations’ experts retreat?” the War God pressed.
Ye Qiu replied, “No.”
The War God’s heart skipped a beat, asking, “If they didn’t retreat, how did you save the Prophet? Why is the Vatican’s crisis resolved? Was it through negotiations?”
“No negotiations,” Ye Qiu said.
The three elders grew puzzled. If it wasn’t negotiations and the nine nations’ experts hadn’t retreated, how had Ye Qiu saved the Prophet and resolved the crisis?
Elder Tang’s curiosity piqued, saying, “Ye Qiu, no more games. Report the truth.”
Ye Qiu came clean, saying, “The nine nations’ experts and their allied forces are all dead.”
“What, dead?” the War God exclaimed, “You killed them?”
“Yeah, I took them all out myself,” Ye Qiu laughed. “Some didn’t even leave ashes.”
The three elders exchanged glances, each seeing profound shock in the others’ eyes.
The War God said, “They were King realm experts…”
“Just a bunch of paper tigers,” Ye Qiu replied. “Elder Tang, War God, any instructions?”
As a seasoned leader, Elder Tang quickly composed himself, saying, “Ye Qiu, since it’s resolved, come back quickly!”
Ye Qiu said, “Elder Tang, I’m calling to tell you I’m not returning yet. In half an hour, I’m going travelling with the Prophet. Do you approve?”
Elder Tang didn’t hesitate, saying, “You’ve been through a lot. A trip sounds good.”
“But listen up, don’t go chasing skirts out there. If you do anything to betray my granddaughter, I won’t let you off.”
“By the way, where are you travelling?”
“The nine Middle Eastern nations,” Ye Qiu said, then hung up.
The three elders, processing his words, were stunned.
“Oh no, Ye Qiu’s about to stir up trouble again!”
