The black car stopped, and Bai Bing helped Old General Bai step out.
Ye Qiu hadn’t expected Old General Bai to come in person and hurriedly went to greet him.
“Xiao Ye, where’s Ruyi?” Old General Bai asked first.
“Inside.” Ye Qiu pointed to the hotel.
Bai Bing took a wooden box from the car and handed it to Ye Qiu, saying, “This is Grandpa’s gift for Ruyi.”
Ye Qiu opened it to find a small, exquisite golden pistol.
Old General Bai said, “This pistol was given to me by a foreign leader when I accompanied the great man on a state visit. I don’t have much of value, so I’m giving this to Ruyi.”
Ye Qiu teased, “Ruyi’s still young, and a girl. Isn’t wielding weapons a bit much?”
“What’s wrong with that? Who knows, she might join the army one day and fight on the battlefield.” Old General Bai spotted Old Master Qian and went to greet him.
Bai Bing handed Qian Shanxue a bag, saying, “I had a friend make a pair of baby shoes for Ruyi. Try them on her later.”
It was a pair of baby cloth shoes, embroidered with gold thread, very delicate.
“Thank you, Sister Bing,” Qian Shanxue said with a smile.
Just then, another car arrived.
The door opened, and Qin Wan stepped out with Baihua Fairy and Lüluo.
The three women instantly drew all eyes, their beauty utterly captivating.
Qin Wan, with her hair pinned up and wearing a fitted skirt, resembled a ripe peony.
Baihua Fairy, without makeup, wore a purple gown that exuded elegance, her forehead’s flame mark making her look like a queen.
As for Lüluo, her curved brows and eyes sparkled with liveliness.
“Who are they?” Li Muqing asked.
Lin Jingzhi said, “Ye Qiu’s friends.”
Li Muqing immediately sensed their relationship with Ye Qiu wasn’t ordinary, sighing softly, “They say behind every successful man is a group of women. Jingzhi, it’s tough on you.”
“Mum, you’re overthinking it. I’m not suffering,” Lin Jingzhi smiled. “Ye Qiu treats me wonderfully. I’m very happy.”
“And them?” Li Muqing asked.
“They’re all my good sisters,” Lin Jingzhi said.
Li Muqing gave a gentle smile.
Qin Wan approached Ye Qiu, saying, “Jingzhi and I discussed it, and we decided to transfer ten percent of our beauty salon’s shares to Ruyi as her full moon gift.”
Ye Qiu said, “We’re family, no need for that.”
Qin Wan rolled her eyes. “This is for Ruyi, not you.”
Baihua Fairy said coldly, “I don’t understand your worldly gift-giving customs. Lüluo and I didn’t bring anything, so we can only wish Ruyi a safe and happy life.”
Ye Qiu didn’t mind at all. “No matter, your presence is enough.”
While the women chatted, a familiar figure suddenly appeared.
Longbrow Master!
Ye Qiu thought he’d seen wrong, rubbed his eyes, and confirmed it was indeed Longbrow Master.
Longbrow Master wore his usual Taoist robe, holding a whisk, but this time, he had a hat on.
“Old man, aren’t you guarding Kunlun Mountain? Why are you here?” Ye Qiu asked, surprised.
“Damn it, don’t mention it. That wretched place—I stayed two days and couldn’t stand it. Not a single bird in sight, boring as hell. I don’t know how your father endures it,” Longbrow Master said, tossing Ye Qiu a talisman. “This is for your daughter.”
Ye Qiu glanced at the talisman, its paper yellowed with age, and asked, “From a Dragon Tiger Mountain ancestor?”
“What, you don’t like it? If you don’t, give it back!” Longbrow Master reached to snatch it.
Ye Qiu quickly tucked it away, grinning. “A gift given is like water spilled. You’d take it back?”
Longbrow Master grumbled, “If you don’t want it, return it. This is the last protective talisman Dragon Tiger Mountain has.”
Ye Qiu, of course, wouldn’t return it, saying, “I’ll thank you on Ruyi’s behalf. By the way, does the War God know you left the mountain?”
“On such a joyous day, why mention him?” Longbrow Master looked annoyed.
Ye Qiu instantly understood the old man had snuck away from Kunlun Mountain without permission.
“Old man, I need a favour,” Ye Qiu said. “Later, I’d like you to read Ruyi’s fortune and check her fate.”
“Small matter, leave it to me,” Longbrow Master said, then noticed Old General Bai and Old Master Qian. He declared loudly, “Today is Ye Qiu’s daughter’s full moon, with esteemed guests gathered. I’m inspired to recite a poem.”
Fearing Longbrow Master would spout nonsense, Ye Qiu tried to stop him, but the old man had already begun.
“The Ye family’s daughter is a treasure, a sweet girl who warms the heart. When she grows up, countless suitors will fall at her feet.”
“Hahaha, little rascal, isn’t my poem great?”
“If this were the Tang Dynasty, it’d make the Three Hundred Tang Poems.”
Shameless!
Everyone inwardly scoffed.
Suddenly, another car pulled up.
This time, it was heavyweight guests: Old Master Ye, the War God, and Hua Guo’s richest man, Ye Wuwei.
As the three appeared, everyone except Longbrow Master went to greet them.
“Qiu’er, this is my gift for Ruyi.” Old Master Ye presented a pure gold longevity lock.
“Ye Qiu, this is for Ruyi.” The War God handed over a jade pendant.
“Ye Qiu, Wudi’s guarding the northern border and can’t leave. He asked me to bring Ruyi a gift.” Ye Wuwei gave Ye Qiu a soft silkworm armour.
Then, Ye Wuwei pulled out a cheque, saying, “I don’t have much else, just money. So, I prepared a little pocket money for Ruyi. Take it!”
Ye Qiu looked at it: one hundred billion!
“Second Uncle, isn’t this too extravagant?” Ye Qiu was shocked.
Ye Wuwei laughed. “For every child you have, I’ll give a hundred billion.”
Ye Qiu said, “I’m worried you’ll go bankrupt, Second Uncle.”
Ye Wuwei replied, “How about a bet? Let’s see if you can have kids faster than I can make money.”
“Enough, you’re getting on in years, yet acting like a child,” Old Master Ye scolded Ye Wuwei, then said, “Tangtang’s on a cultural exchange trip abroad with Old Tang, so they couldn’t come.”
“But Old Tang sent a piece of calligraphy.”
Old Master Ye handed Ye Qiu a scroll.
Ye Qiu unrolled it to see the words “Blessed with a Daughter” written on it, signed by Old Tang in the bottom left.
Beep beep beep—
Suddenly, Ye Qiu’s phone rang. He pulled it out and saw it was Xiao Zhan calling.
“Sister Lin, Xue, take everyone inside. I need to take this call.”
Ye Qiu stepped aside and answered.
“Boss, we found the culprit!”
