Ye Chu did not rush to expel the yin energy from Bai Bao. Every day, he helped suppress it while having Bai Xuan brew the lingzhi into a decoction to slowly nourish Bai Bao’s vital essence.
Several days passed like this. Pang Shao made a rare appearance during this time. In his words: seeing Bai Xuan stirred up his desires, yet he could not touch her, so he stayed away to avoid tormenting himself.
Ye Chu had not shown his face elsewhere in Yao City these days. The voices cursing him gradually quietened. Of course, another reason was that a group of people had arrived in Yao City, rumoured to be talents from a hostile kingdom. This sparked widespread discussion, shifting everyone’s attention to them.
Ye Chu paid no heed to these matters. What surprised him was that Pang Shao, on his rare visit, appeared with a bruised and swollen face.
“Haha! Which woman beat you up this time? I have always told you, women are like tigers! Got your comeuppance again, did you?” Ye Chu mocked Pang Shao. Seeing him like this suddenly filled Ye Chu with an inexplicable sense of happiness.
“Get lost!” Pang Shao grabbed a nearby stool and hurled it hard at Ye Chu. “This young master got beaten, and you are here making sarcastic remarks!”
“Oh! Besides women, who in Yao City dares to beat you?” Ye Chu laughed, completely ignoring Pang Shao’s words. With this fellow’s status, he could strut sideways in Yao City without issue.
“A woman dare hit me? This young master would slap her dead! You think I pity the fair sex?” Pang Shao spat arrogantly, but then seemed to recall something. His face instantly turned bitter. “This time I really capsized in the gutter! Got beaten by some unknown youth!”
“Hm?” Ye Chu was genuinely surprised. Pang Shao was not the strongest, but among Yao City’s youth, those who could beat him numbered no more than five fingers. For him to be beaten this badly and swallow the humiliation meant the opponent was far more than just a little stronger.
“Ye Chu! Help me get revenge, how about it?” Pang Shao’s eyes lit up as he stared at Ye Chu. This was his main reason for coming.
“No interest!” Ye Chu refused without thinking. He had no desire to act as brainless as Pang Shao.
“You would just watch this young master beaten into a pig head?” Pang Shao glared furiously at Ye Chu. “Do you have any loyalty?”
“When talking about loyalty, remember the time I asked you to fetch the three-hundred-year lingzhi.” Ye Chu was unmoved.
Pang Shao gave an awkward laugh. “Such a small matter. Either of us could handle it easily. Why insist on me doing it?”
“Then your beating has nothing to do with me!” Ye Chu rolled his eyes. “If you cannot swallow this, go back to the imperial capital and find help!”
“This young master refuses to return!” Pang Shao was unwilling. Going back meant his grandfather would force him to cultivate again. Where would he find time to chase women then?
“Ye Chu! Do me this favour! At worst, you can pick whatever you want from my private treasury!” Pang Shao could not let this go. He had only wanted one of the opponent’s maids, yet the man dared beat him like this!
Ye Chu ignored Pang Shao. Seeing Bai Xuan enter, he asked, “The lingzhi is finished, right?”
Bai Xuan glanced at Pang Shao’s bruised face with curiosity but did not ask. She nodded. “I just fed Father the last of the decoction!”
“Good! Then today I will expel the yin energy for your father!” Ye Chu nodded, leaving the room with Bai Xuan and abandoning Pang Shao to gnash his teeth alone.
Ye Chu really did not care about his fate!
Pang Shao refused to give up. He had to get revenge. Being bullied in such a kingdom, if word got out, his cronies would mock him.
“What happened to him?” Bai Xuan walked beside Ye Chu, very close. Ye Chu could even smell the faint fragrance from her body.
“Him? Probably went chasing some woman again and got beaten! Not the first time. Ignore him!” Ye Chu smiled at Bai Xuan. Glancing sideways, he saw her rounded, full chin. One button on her collar was undone, revealing a small gap and a glimpse of smooth, jade-like skin. Ye Chu could not help lingering.
“What are you looking at?” Bai Xuan noticed his gaze and realised her button was loose. She quickly covered it, glaring fiercely at Ye Chu. Her face flushed slightly. “Just like him, a rogue!”
These days, Bai Xuan had seen that Ye Chu might not be as utterly evil as rumours claimed. But his lecherousness was undeniable. His eyes were never still.
“I did not see anything. Why so nervous?” Ye Chu shook his head innocently. “Besides, I was only reminding you your button was undone. You would not think I deliberately took advantage, would you?”
Did she need to wonder? Bai Xuan inwardly spat, thinking, was that not exactly what he intended?
Bai Xuan had no way to deal with Ye Chu. She quickened her pace ahead, not walking with him. Her rounded hips swayed with alluring curves. Bai Xuan did not know how tempting she looked from behind, nor that Ye Chu preferred following to admire the view.
“Thank you for the trouble!” Bai Xuan said to Ye Chu, looking at her father on the bed.
Gazing at Bai Xuan’s plump, fair cheek, Ye Chu smiled warmly. “Do not worry! Your father will be fine!”
His voice was quiet but carried strong confidence. Bai Xuan had been anxious about her father these days. Hearing Ye Chu’s assurance, the weight on her lifted. Mist involuntarily rose in her beautiful eyes.
Ye Chu did not know what Bai Xuan was thinking. His gaze shifted to Bai Bao. Thanks to the lingzhi, Bai Bao’s complexion had gained some colour. Though not as healthy as before, it was much better than days ago. Ye Chu estimated that with the three-hundred-year lingzhi replenishing the essence lost to yin energy, it was sufficient.
His fingers moved. Bai Xuan clearly saw strands of qi vigour shoot from them, forming tangible shapes that penetrated Bai Bao’s body.
As soon as the qi entered, the yin energy reacted as if provoked, surging wildly towards Ye Chu.
Terrifying yin energy spread, instantly turning the area grey. Ye Chu’s arms danced rapidly, confining all the yin energy around him.
The dense yin energy began rushing madly into Ye Chu’s body. His fingers moved faster and faster.
Pang Shao entered just in time to see this. Watching the yin energy pour into Ye Chu, he could not help clicking his tongue, unable to imagine how Ye Chu endured it.
The principle behind Ye Chu treating Bai Bao was simple: draw all the yin energy from Bai Bao’s body into his own! Something no cultivator would dare do, yet Ye Chu showed no fear.
The transfer took over an hour. Both Bai Bao and Ye Chu grew increasingly pale. Bai Bao had the lingzhi essence to support him, but Ye Chu’s face turned paper-white. His forehead gained several dull black spots.
Only after two hours did the transfer stop. Ye Chu exhaled lightly. Glancing behind, he saw Bai Xuan at his left. His eyes closed, and he toppled straight leftward.
“Ye Chu!” Bai Xuan cried in alarm, rushing forward to catch him. Ye Chu’s head collided right into her soft, full bosom.
“So soft!” This was Ye Chu’s only thought before passing out completely motionless.
Pang Shao witnessed the scene and stared dumbfounded. He inwardly cursed: Shameless! Utterly shameless! This fellow really knows how to take advantage!
Pang Shao had personally seen Ye Chu face the erupting yin energy from the general’s tomb, far stronger than this. Ye Chu had not fainted then. Fainting now? Fooling ghosts!
Only now did Pang Shao truly realise how weak he was compared to Ye Chu!
