Gan Tao made her stance clear in public, staunchly defending her boyfriend. She got so angry that she stormed out before the dinner even ended.
Wen Kai had originally planned to pretend he did not hear those ill-intentioned taunts. But seeing Gan Tao so upset, he could not care less about how others viewed him. He quickly chased after her.
Not only did Wen Kai not mention breaking up with Gan Tao, he even comforted her instead. “Do not be angry. I do not eat soft rice.”

Only someone feeling guilty would care. Wen Kai felt no guilt at all.
He had never even thought about eating soft rice!
The reason Wen Kai initially rejected Gan Tao was precisely this fear: fear of being gossiped about, and fear that Gan Tao would suffer hardships because of him. Now Wen Kai had figured it out. He had no time to bother with those gossiping boys. He was busy falling in love, and busy making himself better.
If he did not work hard, Gan Tao would be the one mocked for having poor taste!

“Give me some time. I will work hard.”
Wen Kai promised Gan Tao, and her heart felt sweet and warm. “Even if you were not my boyfriend, I have never doubted how excellent you are.”
Leng Jun had originally wanted to come out and comfort Wen Kai, but instead he ended up swallowing a huge mouthful of dog food.
Leng Jun silently returned to the private room. “Today is on me. We are all friends, so I did not want to say anything too harsh. But you really do not know how to read the room! Tao Tao is my little sister. If she is happy, I might not necessarily be happy, but if she is unhappy, I definitely cannot be happy. These people really had no sense of reading the room.
They all felt that although they were not as rich as Leng Jun, they were still far better than Wen Kai.
If Gan Tao could date a poor boy like Wen Kai, why could she not consider them?
Every single one of them thought they were better than Wen Kai.
Leng Jun was simply speechless.
Apart from family background, these people had no advantages over Wen Kai at all, yet they had zero self-awareness.

The family that had tattled kept fanning the flames, and Gan Tao’s parents felt their hearts frying in oil.

“Tao Tao is indeed dating. I originally planned to wait until their relationship was more stable before telling the family, but I did not expect someone to have such a big mouth. Leng Jun openly admitted that Wen Kai had initially been unwilling to date Gan Tao. The young man was too pure and simply could not withstand the brother-sister duo’s tricks.
This was not some casual fling. Leng Jun already regarded Wen Kai as his future “brother-in-law”.

Leng Jun’s evaluation of Wen Kai was extremely high.
