Ye Chen hadn’t expected that the two girls would so straightforwardly divide him up between them.
At that moment, he was still utterly clueless about how to coordinate with the backup dancers.
However, the stage was quickly prepared for the three of them.
Tawana had the stage’s monitor speakers play Gu Qiuyi’s song Assassin at a very low volume, directed only towards the stage, as the trio worked on figuring out their positions and stage design.
The reason for using only the monitor speakers, and keeping the volume so low, was because Tawana’s fans were simply too enthusiastic.
Ever since the stage setup began two days ago, the area outside had been surrounded by fans. Although security had set up a cordon, keeping them 100 metres away from the venue, if they heard Gu Qiuyi’s song playing live right now, they’d immediately guess that she was going to be a guest performer at this concert.
That would not only leak the secret but also prematurely reveal that Gu Qiuyi had returned to Yanjing.
Everyone agreed that, before the performance began, they shouldn’t let it slip that Gu Qiuyi was a guest. The plan was to have her appear on stage as a surprise for the live audience.
Though Gu Qiuyi wasn’t as famous as Tawana, nor did her fans span across every race worldwide like Tawana’s did, the Chinese population was vast, and a significant portion of her Chinese fans overlapped with Tawana’s.
Plus, since this concert was in Yanjing, and Gu Qiuyi was a native Yanjing girl, her sudden appearance would undoubtedly thrill the fans.
Ye Chen, feeling a bit out of his depth, was dragged onto the stage by the two girls.
There were no Assassin performance costumes on site, so Tawana borrowed a hiking pole from her staff for Ye Chen to use as a makeshift longsword.
Ye Chen triple-checked with Gu Qiuyi, “You’re absolutely sure I’ll have a mask on the day of the performance, right? If there’s no mask, I’m not going on stage.”
Gu Qiuyi laughed, “Brother Ye Chen, don’t worry. Anyone might trick you, but I’d never do that.”
Ye Chen nodded, feeling slightly reassured.
Gu Qiuyi then explained, “This song has three parts. The first and second parts are complete verses and choruses, so Tawana and I will each take one. I’d like to make this the final song of the guest performance. I’ll sing the first part, then Tawana will come on stage to sing the second, and for the third part, we’ll sing together. The third part is just a single chorus to wrap it up.”
Ye Chen had listened to the song the whole way here and knew it inside out by now. After hearing Gu Qiuyi’s performance plan, he asked curiously, “So how am I supposed to dance for you both?”
Gu Qiuyi smiled, “It’s simple! When I sing first, Brother Ye Chen, you’ll dance with me. When Tawana comes on for the second part, you’ll dance with her. Then, when Tawana and I sing the third part together, you’ll join both of us.”
She elaborated, “The verses will reflect the emotional connection between you and the two of us, showing how deep our bond was before you left us. For the chorus, you’ll perform martial arts and swordplay at the front of the stage while we sing in the background, highlighting your heroic spirit. In the final part, you return to us, and it’s a happy reunion.”
