She’d brought her full team today, complete with pre-programmed big-screen visuals and lighting combinations tailored to her songs, requiring her crew to perfectly execute everything using Tawana’s equipment when she took the stage.
On top of that, the two had some scripted interactions, including greetings, introductions, and addressing the audience together.
Though they’d only recently met, for today and the next three shows, they had to project a sense of familiarity, even friendship, to enhance the stage effect.
In truth, Tawana genuinely wanted to befriend Gu Qiuyi.
After all, the tendency to extend affection by association is universal, and meeting someone so closely tied to Ye Chen was a rare chance, even if getting closer to her might not yield any tangible benefits, it at least made her feel nearer to Ye Chen in her heart.
So, while they were trying on makeup backstage, Tawana said to Gu Qiuyi with a hint of regret, “Qiuyi, isn’t it a bit early for you to retire from the music scene now?”
Gu Qiuyi smiled, “Not at all, retiring at this age is just right, it won’t delay the wonderful life I’m about to start.”
Tawana pondered for a moment, then said earnestly, “We get along so well, why don’t we team up for a dozen shows world tour, I could boost your influence in Europe and America, you could boost mine in China, we’d grow together and become the world’s most beloved female singers, wouldn’t that be great?”
Gu Qiuyi couldn’t help but reply, “Your influence in China is already huge, you don’t need my help there, if we did a joint tour, I’d be the one benefiting from your fame, with my international presence, I wouldn’t be much help to you, it’d mostly be you helping me.”
Tawana said seriously, “Even if I’m the one helping you, I don’t mind, I’d be happy to, once your influence grows, we’d eventually lift each other up.”
Then she added, “With your popularity in the Chinese-speaking world, you could easily stay famous until you’re fifty, isn’t Faye Wong still huge in China even now?”
Gu Qiuyi gave a mysterious smile and asked, “Tawana, are you being so nice to me because you like Brother Ye Chen?”
Caught off guard, Tawana hadn’t expected Gu Qiuyi to see through her feelings, let alone say it outright, her heart raced with nerves.
Seeing her flustered reaction, Gu Qiuyi laughed, “Oh, don’t be so nervous, so many girls like Brother Ye Chen, it’s countless, besides, he’s so amazing, it’d be weirder if a girl who’s met him didn’t like him.”
Since there were no outsiders around and Ye Chen wasn’t present, Tawana mustered her courage and said, “I do like Mr. Ye, but it’s probably not what you think, other girls who like him might dream of ending up with him, but I wouldn’t dare entertain that thought…”
