Her private jet had taken off from Los Angeles, flying nearly fifteen thousand kilometres over a dozen hours, landing in the Maldives’ capital, Malé, just before dawn.
Though she could rest well on the private jet, the journey still left her exhausted. As the seaplane neared its destination, she complained to her mother, “I thought the Maldives was a seven- or eight-hour flight. I didn’t expect it to take this long. I regret it now. If I’d known when my agent suggested the Maldives, I would’ve checked the distance first.”
Her mother smiled, “The Maldives isn’t as famous in the U.S. because it’s so far. The Caribbean’s climate is similar, and the scenery isn’t much different. Next time you want a tropical holiday, go to the Caribbean.”
Tawanna’s father immediately interjected, “No more Caribbean! Its reputation in the U.S. is ruined now. Have you forgotten about those islands? We can’t let our precious daughter be associated with those places.”
“True!” Tawanna’s mother recalled those infamous islands and said with some fear, “Best to avoid the Caribbean.”
Tawanna felt deeply awkward. Her parents didn’t know about her ties to those islands. If they knew she’d once partied with notorious figures, they’d likely be deeply disappointed.

The seaplane landed on the water and glided to the dock.
Staff, having received prior notice, were already waiting at the dock to greet them.
Even the general manager of White Horse Island and Bernard Elnor’s assistant were there, representing Bernard Elnor and the White Horse Island Group to welcome the international superstar.
Once the plane stopped, Tawanna stepped off first, followed by her parents, with four bodyguards closely trailing behind.

Tawanna was curious. Since Bernard Elnor’s assistant was here, did that mean Bernard Elnor was on the island too?
With that in mind, she asked, “Is Mr. Bernard Elnor on the island?”
“Yes!” Alexander nodded with a smile, “By happy coincidence, Mr. and Mrs. Elnor arrived not long ago. They’re older and couldn’t come to greet you this early, so please forgive them, Miss Sweet.”
“You’re too kind. I’ll visit Mr. Elnor when the time’s right,” Tawanna replied.
As a top star in entertainment and music, Tawanna had dealt with the capital behind luxury brands and even collaborated with them. Bernard Elnor, a peerless tycoon in the luxury world, held an exceptional status in the entertainment industry, so Tawanna had to show him some respect.
Alexander smiled, “Miss Sweet, Mr. Elnor asked me to convey that he’s hosting a party on the island tonight and invites you and all the island’s guests to join. Would you be interested?”
On holiday, Tawanna had no interest in parties, especially since the attendees here would likely be ordinary people, not industry insiders. Being the only celebrity would feel awkward.
But she couldn’t refuse Bernard Elnor’s kindness right after arriving, so she agreed, saying, “A party sounds wonderful! I’m interested!”
