“Holy Judgment!”
The golden-armoured guard leader raised his long spear high. Golden light burst forth from the spear tip, forming a massive pillar of light that sent all the demonic cultivators in front flying.
“Ah!”
The demonic cultivators let out piercing screams. Their bodies turned to ash in the golden light.
However, more demonic souls and demonic cultivators surged forward. They pounced on the group like mad dogs, willing to do anything to stop their escape.
“Fourth Hall Master, this won’t work if it continues like this!” Wu Hao shouted anxiously. “There are too many demonic cultivators!”
Ling Xi’s expression was grave. She could feel the spiritual energy within her depleting rapidly. “Hold on! As long as we break through the city gate, there’s hope!”
“The city gate is just ahead!”
Zi Yuan pointed at the city gate not far away, a glimmer of hope flashing in her eyes.
However, at that moment, dense black demonic souls suddenly appeared in the sky. They gathered together, forming a massive black barrier that blocked everyone’s path.
“Hahaha… You can’t escape!”
The Soul Devourer Venerable’s arrogant voice came from the direction of the palace. “Today, all of you will die!”
“What do we do?” Ling Yue asked worriedly. Her injuries made it difficult for her to move.
Ling Xi took a deep breath, a flash of determination in her eyes. “Golden-armoured guards, heed my command! Charge with full force!”
“Yes!”
The three hundred golden-armoured guards responded in unison. They all released their full spiritual energy. Golden light converged, forming a massive golden spear that thrust towards the black barrier.
“Boom!”
A tremendous explosion rang out as the golden spear collided with the black barrier, producing a massive shockwave.
The black barrier trembled violently, cracks appearing all over it, but in the end, it did not break.
“It’s useless!”
The Soul Devourer Venerable’s voice carried a hint of mockery. “Do you think you can break through my defence like this?”
Ling Xi gritted her teeth. She knew that if they could not break through this barrier quickly, they would all die here.
“Four Divine Guards, join me in attacking!” Ling Xi shouted.
“Yes!”
The four divine guards responded in unison. They all released their powerful spiritual energy, converging with Ling Xi’s cyan spiritual energy.
“Divine Light!”
Ling Xi shouted. The cyan spiritual light intertwined with the golden spiritual energy, forming an even more dazzling radiance that bombarded the black barrier.
“Boom!”
Another tremendous explosion, and the black barrier finally could not withstand it, a massive gap appearing.
“Charge through quickly!”
Ling Xi shouted, leading the way towards the gap.
Wu Hao, Zi Yuan, Ling Yue, Hu Mazi, Wuji Daoist, and the others followed closely behind, rushing towards the outside of the Divine Capital City under the protection of the golden-armoured guards.
“Stop them!”
The demonic cultivators roared as they pounced forward, trying to fill the gap.
“No chance!” The golden-armoured guard leader shouted. He swung his long spear, golden spear shadows fluttering like pear blossoms, killing all the oncoming demonic cultivators.
The group finally broke out of the Divine Capital City, but the demonic cultivators did not give up. They continued to pursue relentlessly from behind.
“We must leave this place as quickly as possible!” Ling Xi shouted.
The group dared not stop, desperately fleeing into the distance.
From behind, in the direction of the Divine Capital City, came bursts of tremendous explosions. Evidently, Chen Ping, possessed by the Crimson Cloud Demon Lord, was still engaged in fierce battle with the Soul Devourer Venerable.
“Chen Ping, he…” Zi Yuan looked back worriedly.
“Don’t worry,” Hu Mazi comforted. “The Crimson Cloud Demon Lord isn’t so easily defeated. He’ll find a way to escape.”
Ling Xi looked at the distant Divine Capital City, a complex expression flashing in her eyes. “We owe him our lives.”
The group fell silent. They all knew that if it weren’t for the Crimson Cloud Demon Lord possessing Chen Ping and holding back the Soul Devourer Venerable, they would probably all have died inside the Divine Capital City today.
“Let’s first find a safe place to heal our wounds. Once we’ve recovered our strength, we can think of a way to go back and rescue him,” Ling Xi said.
The group nodded and continued fleeing into the distance.
