“You greedy lot, today is your doomsday!”
Chen Ping roared. His hands flew through a rapid series of seals, and golden beams shot from his palms towards the villagers.
The villagers scattered in panic, yet many were still struck. Their bodies tore apart instantly, turning into sprays of blood mist that dissolved into the air.
Seeing the tide turn, the burly middle-aged man spun around to flee.
Chen Ping, however, would never let him escape so easily. His figure flashed, and in an instant he appeared before the man, kicking him flat to the ground.
“Mercy, my lord! We were blind not to recognise your greatness. Please spare us!” the man begged in terror.
Chen Ping stared down coldly. “You greedy scum would stop at nothing for treasure. Today you pay the price for your actions!”
With those words, light flashed from his hand. A golden sword qi slashed down, and the man’s head flew off, blood gushing in a fountain.
The remaining villagers turned deathly pale. They dropped to their knees, kowtowing and pleading for their lives.
Chen Ping felt not the slightest pity.
He knew full well that, had he and Liu Xue been any weaker, or lacked the deterrent of the Golden Dragon bloodline, they would already be corpses at these people’s hands.
“You greedy vermin deserve no sympathy!”
He spoke icily, then sent more flashes of light from his hand. Sword qi streaked out towards the villagers.
Screams filled the air. One after another they were struck, collapsing dead on the spot.
In moments the entire village lay silent, every adult slain. Only the old woman and the boy remained alive.
Chen Ping and Liu Xue walked over and regarded them coldly.
The old woman trembled uncontrollably. She fell to her knees, banging her head on the ground. “My lord, mercy! We were forced! We never meant you harm!”
The boy stared with wide, terrified eyes, fear written across his face.
Chen Ping’s gaze held no trace of compassion.
Liu Xue whispered, “Young Master Chen, perhaps we could spare this grandmother and grandson?”
Chen Ping said nothing. Instead he stepped forward, Dragon-Slaying Sword in hand, until he stood before the pair.
“I never kill women or children…”
The old woman and boy instantly relaxed, a cold smirk flickering across their faces.

Before the old woman could fully exhale, Chen Ping’s Dragon-Slaying Sword ran straight through her body.
Her face filled with disbelief as she stared at him. “Didn’t you say you never kill women or children?”
“Exactly. And you’re not a child, are you?” Chen Ping replied.
The old woman: “…”

Chen Ping thrust again, piercing the boy clean through.
The boy’s eyes bulged wide.
“Don’t glare at me. You’re not a woman either…” Chen Ping sneered.
The boy: “…”
Both old woman and child now lay dead. Liu Xue, standing to the side, did not know whether to laugh or cry at Chen Ping’s antics.
“Right, let’s go.”
Chen Ping turned to leave with Liu Xue.
Boom!
Suddenly the heavens and earth thundered. The world before them began to collapse. Darkness swallowed their vision once more as they fell unconscious.
When they gradually came round, they found themselves in a completely unfamiliar realm.
The sky above was a strange, eerie purple. Clouds churned like burning flames.
The ground was criss-crossed with enormous fissures, as though torn apart by some invisible giant hand.
In the distance, several towering peaks stabbed into the heavens. Black smoke coiled around their summits, radiating a deeply unsettling aura.
“Young Master Chen, where are we now?”
Liu Xue asked weakly. Her face was pale as paper; the earlier battle and the teleportation had clearly drained her vitality.
