The child, however, refused to let the matter drop. She stood up and lunged at Chen Ping, swinging her small fists at him.
Chen Ping sidesteped lightly and dodged her attack.
“Stop messing around!” Chen Ping said with a frown.
The child suddenly stopped. She fixed Chen Ping with a strange look and said coldly, “I want you to pay with your life for my parents.”
Chen Ping was stunned. He had not expected the child to say something like that.
He opened his mouth to ask what she meant, but suddenly felt a wave of danger rushing towards him.
At that instant, the child pulled a dagger from her clothes and stabbed at Chen Ping.
Chen Ping reacted quickly. He twisted aside, reached out, and seized the child’s wrist.
“What are you doing?” Chen Ping shouted angrily.
The child gave a cold laugh. “You killed my parents. Now you will pay the price.”
Shock and anger surged through Chen Ping. He had not thought the child could be so stubbornly full of hate.
Looking into her eyes that blazed with hatred, a resolute feeling suddenly rose in his heart.
“Child, I can let you see your parents,” Chen Ping said.
“Really?” Joy flashed across the child’s face. “Hurry, hurry and let me see my parents…”
“Very well…” Chen Ping nodded. The Dragon-Slaying Sword flashed in his hand, and a sharp burst of sword qi slashed towards the child.
“No!”
Liu Xue let out a startled cry. She had not expected Chen Ping to really strike.
Yet the sword qi instantly pierced through the child’s body.
The child’s eyes widened. She stared at Chen Ping in disbelief, then slowly collapsed.
“Your parents are waiting for you in the underworld. I am simply sending you to them,” Chen Ping said slowly as he sheathed the Dragon-Slaying Sword.
“Chen Ping, you…” Liu Xue looked at him, her eyes filled with shock and confusion.
Chen Ping took a deep breath and said, “Alliance Leader Liu, I know you felt sorry for the child, but hatred had already blinded her completely. What is more, she just tried to kill me.
In this world where the weak become prey to the strong, we cannot afford the slightest pity or softness. Otherwise we will only bring greater trouble upon ourselves.”
Liu Xue fell silent. She knew Chen Ping was right.
In this unfamiliar world, they had to stay vigilant. They could not easily trust others, and they certainly could not act like saints.
“Let us go. We should not linger here,” Chen Ping said, then took Liu Xue’s hand and prepared to leave the valley.

This must be a test set by the master of these ruins. Only if we pass can we see the true ruins.”
Chen Ping explained.
Otherwise, there would be no explanation for how they kept being transported to unknown worlds so often.
“Then what kind of trial will it be this time?” Liu Xue asked.
