Yan Nantian frowned deeply. He knew Chen Ping and the Soul-Devouring Venerable were at odds. If he submitted now, it would mean opposing Chen Ping.

“Soul-Devouring Venerable, could you grant us one day to consider? After all, Yama Heaven Sect is not mine alone to command.”
“Several of our ancestors are currently in seclusion. Without their consent, they will be furious when they emerge.”
Yan Nantian brought up the sect’s ancestors.
In truth, Yama Heaven Sect had no ancestors in seclusion. Yan Nantian himself was currently the strongest person in the sect.
He was merely bluffing to intimidate the Soul-Devouring Venerable and buy time before any attack.
The Soul-Devouring Venerable frowned slightly at Yan Nantian’s words, then finally nodded. “Very well. I will give you one day. If there is no decision after that, Yama Heaven Sect will cease to exist in the Ninth Heaven.”
With that, his figure vanished instantly.
Only when the Soul-Devouring Venerable had left did Yan Nantian let out a long breath of relief.
Many disciples in the sect were already trembling, their legs weak with fear.
The Soul-Devouring Venerable had been a notorious great demon in the Ninth Heaven ten thousand years ago.
Back then, he had killed many from Yama Heaven Sect. Fortunately, both sides practised demonic cultivation, so he had not wiped them out completely.

Although Chen Ping himself was no match for the Soul-Devouring Venerable, there was someone behind Chen Ping.
If that supreme expert acted, the Soul-Devouring Venerable would surely be no opponent.

“Of course I refused. Yama Heaven Sect is willing to follow Master Chen. How could we ever side with that Soul-Devouring Venerable?”
“I cursed that Soul-Devouring bastard to his face and staked the lives of the entire sect.”
“He told me to think it over, then left.”
Yan Nantian declared.
“Sect Leader Yan, you actually dared to curse the Soul-Devouring Venerable?” Liu Xue asked in disbelief.
“Of course. Your Earth Fiend Alliance might not dare, but that does not mean Yama Heaven Sect is afraid. After all, we are one of the oldest sects in the Ninth Heaven.”
Yan Nantian spoke with complete bravado, showing none of the terror he had felt moments before.
