They disturbed a nest of ghost-faced bees capable of shooting paralysing venomous stings. Chen Ping used fire-based spells to burn a vacuum zone, collected the royal jelly, and fed it to the little fire qilin in the same way.
They also encountered a phantom leopard skilled in concealment and soul attacks, extremely difficult to deal with. Chen Ping expended considerable effort and employed a trace of the Demon-Suppressing Tower’s aura to intimidate it before slaying it. The essence containing soul power greatly benefited the little fire qilin.
Along the way, Chen Ping acted like the most elite hunter, relying on his rich combat experience and powerful application of laws to direct the giant ape in killing one powerful demon beast after another.
The inner cores, essence blood, and soul fragments of these demon beasts all became the best nourishment for raising the little fire qilin.
The little fire qilin grew at a speed visible to the naked eye.
Its body became slightly larger, the crimson scales on its frame more vivid and eye-catching, faintly shimmering with flowing light. The qilin true fire it breathed grew even more condensed and scorching, and the aura it emitted was already approaching the level of the Human Immortal realm.
It seemed to greatly enjoy this process of battle and devouring. Its coordination with Chen Ping became increasingly seamless, often providing advance warnings or assisting in attacks.
As for Chen Ping himself, through these high-intensity battles and constant circulation of energy to heal his wounds, his injuries slowly recovered. His control over his own power became more refined, and his adaptability to the new environment gradually strengthened.
He was like a young dragon that had闯ed into the wilderness, beginning to use its claws and fangs to tear open a path of survival for himself and his companion in this forest where danger and opportunity coexisted.
The giant ape carried Chen Ping and the little fire qilin through the primeval jungle, where towering trees blocked the sky and sun, for an unknown length of time.
The surrounding trees grew ever taller and sturdier. The dense spiritual energy almost condensed into tangible mist, but this also meant the level of hidden dangers was constantly rising.
Chen Ping maintained a high state of alertness throughout. His divine sense spread outwards like an invisible spiderweb, detecting every slightest movement as far as possible.
Suddenly, the giant ape beneath him let out a low, excited roar. Its pace quickened noticeably, even carrying a hint of urgency as it charged fiercely in one direction.
Its thick arms pushed aside layer upon layer of massive vines and ferns that formed walls, as if rushing towards a specific target.
A thought stirred in Chen Ping’s mind. Could the giant ape have discovered some heavenly treasure?
He patted the ape’s rough neck to calm it, while heightening his guard even further.
The little fire qilin also seemed to sense something. It awoke from its light doze, stood on Chen Ping’s shoulder, nostrils flaring slightly. Curiosity gleamed in its crimson eyes.
Passing through the final natural barrier formed by thorns, the view ahead suddenly opened up.
This was a small basin deep within a mountain valley, where sunlight could filter down through the sparse canopy.
In the centre of the basin, the soil displayed a strange dark red hue, as if soaked in blood. Growing upon that dark red soil were several plants of peculiar form!
The plants were blood-red throughout, crystalline and translucent, resembling the finest red jade carvings. Their umbrella-like caps formed perfect cloud shapes, layered and overlapping, emanating an extremely rich essence of life and a unique bloody fragrance.
Merely inhaling that scent caused Chen Ping’s blood and qi to stir slightly, and even the recovery of his injuries seemed to accelerate a fraction.
“This is… blood lingzhi? And at least ten thousand years old!”
Joy exploded in Chen Ping’s eyes.
Blood lingzhi was a top-tier heavenly material and earthly treasure for tempering the physical body, replenishing blood and qi, and even repairing damage to the divine soul. It was extremely rare even in Ninth Heaven. He had never expected to encounter several stalks at once in this unfamiliar forest!
For him and the little fire qilin, both still gravely injured and unhealed, this was truly a gift sent in the nick of time!
