“They’re getting more and more brazen!” Xu Fei muttered to himself before pulling out his phone and dialing Bai Zhan’s number.
“Hey, Bai Zhan, do you know a real estate company called Fuxing Properties?”
“Military Young Master, I’ve come across that company while investigating other tasks before. It’s just a small, insignificant company. Why do you ask?”
“I want to stop their construction project at the foot of Golden Light Temple. Can you handle that?”
Hearing this, Bai Zhan paused for a moment and then laughed. “No problem! The project near Golden Light Temple hasn’t even been approved. They’re operating without a permit, so it’ll be easy to deal with. Leave it to me!”
After hanging up, Lanhua timidly asked, “Senior, who were you calling just now?”
“Oh, just a friend in the real estate business,” Xu Fei replied casually.
Hearing that the person was involved in real estate, Lanhua’s brows furrowed in concern. “Ah… so it’s someone in real estate…”
Seeing her expression, Xu Fei understood her worries and smiled, gently patting her head. “Don’t worry, you’ve got the wrong idea. Not everyone in real estate is a bad person, you know!”
As they got back into the car, Xu Fei noticed that the noise from the construction site had noticeably diminished. Now, their next task was to retrieve the four Jade Arhats. Unfortunately, the Arhats had been separated, which made things more complicated.
One of the Arhats was in the hands of Fuxing Properties, while the other three had just been swindled away by the Red Buddha Society.
“Sigh, let’s head to Fuxing Properties first. After all, I just spoke to Bai Zhan about them,” Xu Fei said, driving the armored vehicle straight to Fuxing Properties’ headquarters.
When Xu Fei arrived, he noticed a military-green jeep parked by the roadside. It turned out Bai Zhan had personally come to handle the matter and had been waiting for some time.
“Why bother coming yourself for such a small matter? A phone call would’ve been enough,” Xu Fei said as he got out of the car, shaking hands and exchanging a brief hug with Bai Zhan.
“A small company like Fuxing Properties isn’t worth my personal attention, but you, Military Young Master, definitely are!” Bai Zhan chuckled, then glanced at the small figure behind Xu Fei. “Military Young Master, who’s this…”
Seeing Bai Zhan’s puzzled expression, Xu Fei realized how Lanhua must look at the moment. She was a bit of a mess—her head shaved as part of her Buddhist practice, wearing a simple monk’s robe that had been torn during her earlier chase and fall. Combined with her timid demeanor, she was quite the sight.
“This is Lanhua, a young monk from Golden Light Temple. Come on, take a look. Is this the kind of ‘bad guy’ you imagined someone in real estate to be?” Xu Fei said, gesturing to Bai Zhan.
Lanhua looked up and saw Bai Zhan’s kind and gentle expression. Her face immediately flushed with embarrassment. “I… I’m sorry, Uncle. I shouldn’t have said bad things about you earlier…”
“Hahaha, it’s alright, Lanhua. The real estate industry has earned such a bad reputation because of these scoundrels! Come on, let’s go in and teach them a lesson together!” Bai Zhan said warmly.
With that, Xu Fei took Lanhua’s hand, and together with Bai Zhan and his team, they entered the headquarters of Fuxing Properties. From the outside, it looked like an ordinary office building, nothing out of the ordinary.
