After saying that, Xu Fei moved like a pro footballer, lifting one leg high and slamming it down, sending Lang-ge spinning like a ball, crashing straight through the door beside them.
“Don’t come near me!”
Hearing the commotion at the door, Lanhua, hiding inside, tensed up, and when the door burst open, her last line of defense crumbled instantly.
“It’s okay, Lanhua, it’s me.”
Those simple words made Lanhua’s trembling body relax in a heartbeat.
“So it’s Senior who came! That’s wonderful…”
Seeing it was Xu Fei, Lanhua flashed a grin, then collapsed to the floor.
“Lanhua! Wake up, Lanhua!”
Xu Fei rushed over in a panic, patting her cheek, but got no response.
Luckily, he checked her pulse and found her vitals steady, likely just passed out from exhaustion, stress, and nearly a day without food.
Xu Fei immediately called an ambulance, glaring daggers at Lang-ge before leaving.
“Great… Great Hero, please spare me, I really… really didn’t know she was yours… Besides, I took her in and looked after her well for days, no credit, but at least some effort, right?”
Seeing Lang-ge blubbering, and with Lanhua’s care taking priority, Xu Fei relented.
Though Lang-ge had ulterior motives bringing Lanhua back, he had indeed tended to her for days.
So Xu Fei ditched the idea of roughing him up, instead eyeing the phone in his hand.
“Make a call!”
“C-call… who?”
“The police!”
“Huh… this…”
“You’ve got one shot, call the cops and turn yourself in for running a shady joint here, or when I’m back, you’ll end up like that busted door!”
Under Xu Fei’s stare, Lang-ge, with no choice, dialed and snitched on himself.
Then Xu Fei hopped in the ambulance, heading to the hospital.
After a doctor’s check, it matched Xu Fei’s hunch: Lanhua was just worn out, overstressed, and starving, she’d be fine with rest and nutrition.
Once the doctor left, Xu Fei shut the door.
Speaking of rest and nutrition, Xu Fei glanced at the IV drip in Lanhua’s hand, then at the true qi orb glowing in his palm.
“What’s got better nourishment than this?”
Muttering to himself, Xu Fei compressed the orb tighter, shrinking it to a pill-sized nugget, pinched Lanhua’s philtrum, and slipped it into her mouth.
With the true qi’s boost, Lanhua woke up fast.
“Senior…”
“Hey… don’t rush to move, lie back and rest, you’re safe now!”
Seeing Lanhua struggle to rise, Xu Fei gently pressed her back onto the bed.
“Senior, I’m so sorry, I decided on my own to leave the mountain to find you, but I got lost, I’ve really troubled Mr. Lin!”
Xu Fei smiled softly at that.
“Lanhua, no need for apologies, it’s my fault for not thinking it through, I didn’t leave any contact info, or none of this would’ve happened.”
Their chat hit a lull, the air turning a tad awkward.
Just then, the ward door swung open, a girl in a hospital gown rolled in on a wheelchair, pushed by her parents, her calf wrapped in bandages.
