Xu Fei had the taxi drop him off at a commercial street in downtown Beijing.
He’d come here simply to scope out the real estate, hoping to rent an office in one of the nearby buildings to set up the branch.
But the moment he stepped out, a shrill horn blared behind him.
“Hey, hey, hey! Are you freaking deaf? Why’d you park here? Don’t you see you’re blocking my way?”
Turning around, Xu Fei saw a red Porsche sports car parked behind the taxi, its driver oozing arrogance.
The taxi driver, clearly spooked, forced a smile and started to move the car.
But before he could, Xu Fei reached out and stopped him.
“No need to move for him on purpose, this guy’s just looking for trouble!”
As Xu Fei spoke, the Porsche’s owner stepped out, overhearing him and snorting coldly, “Yeah, I’m looking for trouble today, so what? If you know what’s good for you, clear out for your Brother Wei, or I’ll make you crawl past me on your knees!”
Brother Wei strutted with swagger, and right after he spoke, two black vans rolled up behind him on the road.
The doors slid open with a whoosh, and a dozen or so guys piled out.
Each one wore sunglasses, staring coldly in their direction, clearly not the type you’d want to mess with.
Seeing this lineup, the taxi driver freaked out, and Xu Fei knew this guy was picking a fight on purpose.
Not wanting to drag the driver into it, Xu Fei fished two hundred bucks from his pocket, tossed it into the cab, and signaled him to leave.
“Hey! What the hell’s that supposed to mean? Did I say you could go?”
Seeing the taxi driver peel out, Brother Wei wasn’t pleased, rolling up his sleeves, ready to blow a gasket.
That’s when Xu Fei finally spoke up.
“Shut your mouth! This is clearly a parking lot, not some roadside lane, I can have the car stop wherever I damn well please.”
“If you’ve got a problem with it, come try me!”
Though Xu Fei knew he needed to keep a low profile in the capital, he figured this guy was just some local thug or small-time gang leader.
Hardly a real threat, Xu Fei decided today was the day to teach him a lesson, lest anyone think they could strut around in front of him like they owned the place.
“Oh, look at you, big balls, huh? Talking to me like that? Don’t you dare run!”
“Quit standing around, get him!”
Brother Wei waved a hand, and in an instant, the dozen guys behind him charged forward.
Xu Fei didn’t want to waste time on these clowns, plus this open-air parking lot was smack in the commercial street, with plenty of onlookers, he didn’t want to show off too much of his strength.
So he opted to cut the head off the snake, going straight for Brother Wei.
Wei’s crew had just gotten their orders and were rushing at Xu Fei.
They never expected him to flip the script and make a beeline for their boss.
In the blink of an eye, Brother Wei saw a blur, and the next second, a chilling voice rasped in his ear.
“Make one more move, and I won’t mind sending you down to chat with the King of Hell!”
