Upon receiving the call, Uncle He frowned slightly, thinking to himself that miracle doctors weren’t exactly easy to come by these days.
Previously, when someone in the family fell ill, the entire He household had nearly exhausted every famous doctor in the capital to no avail, so how could a so-called miracle doctor just pop up out of nowhere now?
That said, Uncle He knew deep down that Yao Manyun must have the family’s best interests at heart, unlike the usual spoiled brats who couldn’t care less about their kin.
So, without saying much else, he agreed straightforwardly, “Alright, Miss, don’t go anywhere, I’ll arrange for someone to drive over and pick you up right away!”
With that, Uncle He hung up, quickly summoned the driver, and they sped off towards her location.
Xu Fei followed Yao Manyun to wait at the roadside near Jialan Bar for about ten minutes.
During those ten minutes, Xu Fei kept looking off into the distance, lost in thought, staring at who-knows-what.
To Yao Manyun’s mild annoyance, this guy didn’t so much as glance at her the entire time.
If her focus hadn’t already shifted to whether Xu Fei could heal her family member later, she’d probably be sulking again, questioning her own charm.
Ten-odd minutes passed in a flash, and soon a black Porsche Cayenne pulled up in front of them.
The door opened, and a middle-aged man with a beard stepped out, immediately looking at Yao Manyun.
“Miss, are you alright?”
Uncle He, as the Yao family’s steward, was sharp-eyed from years of managing household affairs. He instantly noticed Yao Manyun’s slightly dishevelled clothes and spoke up.
“Oh, it’s nothing, Uncle He. I did run into some trouble earlier, but thankfully this miracle doctor helped me out. We need to get him home quickly to treat someone!”
From the sparkle in her eyes alone, it was clear Yao Manyun admired Xu Fei greatly, her gaze practically twinkling with stars.
Only then did Uncle He turn to size Xu Fei up, piecing together the situation in his mind and letting out a cold inward scoff.
He didn’t buy that things could be so coincidental, how could their miss just happen to run into trouble near Jialan Bar, only for this kid to swoop in and save her?
And on top of that, this kid supposedly knew Chinese medicine and was being hailed as a miracle doctor by the miss? If this wasn’t some orchestrated scheme, Uncle He wouldn’t believe it for a second.
Though he addressed Yao Manyun as “Miss” out of respect, as the Yao family’s head steward, his actual authority far exceeded hers.
That authority was granted by the Yao patriarch himself, tasking Uncle He with keeping an eye on the family’s younger generation, ensuring they didn’t fall for scams or take wrong turns.
So when Yao Manyun finished speaking and moved to open the car door to let Xu Fei in, the seasoned Uncle He let out a cold snort.
“Hmph! Forgive my rudeness, Miss, but Chinese medicine is a profound treasure of our China’s civilisation. I find it hard to believe someone as young as this fellow could truly master it.”
“Who’s to say he’s not some fraud planted by people with ulterior motives?”
At that, Yao Manyun froze, her simpler mind hadn’t even considered that angle.
Meanwhile, Xu Fei, hearing this, could only wear a helpless expression, silently stewing in frustration with no way to vent it.
