To avoid raising suspicion from the Second Granduncle in front of him, Xu Fei still reached out to take his pulse and gave him a quick check-up, offering a few parting words before turning to leave.
“So, Doctor Xu, did you… figure anything out?”
As they stepped out, Xu Fei glanced at the two who’d hurried after him and shook his head slightly.
“Sorry, this situation seems pretty complicated for now. But I can promise you I’ll find a way to lure Yao Yuanzhou away so I can check on the second miss’s condition.”
Xu Fei’s explanation convinced Uncle He and Yao Manyun.
Since no clear cause was apparent yet, it made sense to at least confirm Yao Yunxi’s current state.
After all, it’d been nearly half a year since the Yao family last had a doctor treat Yao Yunxi, and no one could say how she was holding up in her endless coma.
“But how do we get Yao Yuanzhou out of the way?” Yao Manyun asked.
Xu Fei chuckled lightly, flashing a silver needle.
“No worries, I’ll just make him sleep nice and quiet!”
Yao Manyun didn’t quite grasp what Xu Fei meant at first, but soon enough, he led them back to the junction between the second and third floors.
With a flick of his hand, Xu Fei sent the silver needle whistling through the air, straight at Yao Yuanzhou.
At that moment, Yao Yuanzhou was already a bit drowsy.
Guarding Yao Yunxi’s door day and night like this, his mental state was understandably poor, anyone skipping sleep that much would be in the same boat.

Xu Fei took the lead, twisting open the door to Yao Yunxi’s bedroom and stepping inside.
“Doctor Xu, how’s my sister doing?”
Yao Manyun asked as she followed in, but the moment she finished speaking and looked up, she froze!
Because as Yao Manyun raised her head, she was stunned to see Xu Fei standing by the bed, where it was completely empty, no sign of Yao Yunxi anywhere!
