Just as Xu Fei was speculating whether Yao Yunxi or the Yao family might be tied to some cultivator faction, Uncle He suddenly shouted.
“Doctor Xu! Young Miss, come quick and see this!”
The two turned around but couldn’t spot Uncle He. Yao Manyun quickly called out, “Uncle He, where are you?”
Moments later, they saw Uncle He’s hand waving from under Yao Yunxi’s bed.
“I’m down here! There’s something odd under the bed!”
Xu Fei didn’t hold back this time, kicking the bed frame with precision.
He controlled his strength perfectly, flipping the entire bed midair before it landed upside down on the other side.
Uncle He, suddenly exposed to open space, blinked in confusion before pointing urgently at what should’ve been the underside of the bed, “Look at this… what on earth is that on the bed frame?”
Earlier, Uncle He had figured he’d searched nearly every corner of the room, leaving only the bed’s underside, so he’d crawled under.
To his surprise, as he ran his hand along it, he felt all sorts of strange markings.
Xu Fei noticed them too, though the room hadn’t been cleaned in a while, leaving the bed frame coated in dust.
With a gentle surge of true qi, he dispersed the dust in front of him, revealing the odd patterns etched into the wood.
“It looks like a carving of a Buddha statue, but this design… I feel like I’ve seen it somewhere before, where was it…”
Xu Fei rubbed his chin, racking his brain, until a smoky room flashed in his mind.
“Right! Second Granduncle! The Buddha statue in his room is almost identical to this pattern!”
At that, Uncle He and Yao Manyun snapped to attention.
The three of them prepared to leave the room and head straight for Second Granduncle’s place.
But as they stepped out, they found Yao Yuanzhou, who should’ve been fast asleep on the floor, gone!
“No way… Do all you Yao family folks have superpowers or something?”
Xu Fei couldn’t help but grumble inwardly, though the two beside him were even more rattled.
“Where’s Yao Yuanzhou? Wasn’t he just here? Could he be in danger?”
True to their Yao family nature, their first thought upon seeing Yao Yuanzhou missing was his safety.
But to Xu Fei, this guy wasn’t in any danger, in fact, he might just be the key to Yao Yunxi’s mysterious disappearance.
“No need to worry about him. Hurry and send people to find him, if we can track him down, we might find Yao Yunxi too!”
Uncle He didn’t dare dawdle after hearing this, immediately rushing off to organise a search for Yao Yuanzhou.
Meanwhile, Xu Fei and Yao Manyun headed straight for Second Granduncle’s room.
Knock, knock, knock!
After knocking, Xu Fei and Yao Manyun stepped inside again, and sure enough, atop the incense-filled Buddhist shrine, the statue matched the one from Yao Yunxi’s room perfectly.
