The coordinates from Hell’s Ear were incredibly detailed, right down to the door number.
So it didn’t take Xu Fei long to drive close to the destination.
But when he reached the entrance to Nanyang Alley, he couldn’t help but stop.
Looking at the narrow opening, barely a meter wide, he said, “This tiny alley… looks like we’re walking in!”
Uncle He, obviously well-accustomed to the capital, wasn’t fazed and explained, “Doctor Xu, just bear with it. It’s not far once you’re inside.”
Xu Fei nodded, parked the car on the roadside, and quickly set off with Uncle He toward the target.
Following the phone’s navigation, they walked for about four or five minutes before it signaled they’d arrived.
“This should be it, Uncle He.”
Xu Fei looked around, taking in the rundown courtyard.
Before coming to the capital, he’d heard people boast that courtyard houses within the first ring road were worth hundreds of millions.
Now, standing here, he saw these so-called courtyard houses were nothing more than dilapidated little yards.
The entrance was an old iron gate. To avoid alerting anyone inside, Xu Fei leapt over the wall in one fluid motion.
Despite his age, Uncle He was surprisingly nimble.
Though not as swift as Xu Fei, he followed suit and made it inside.
The two crouched low, moving silently toward a room’s window.
Peering through the glass, Xu Fei and Uncle He confirmed two people inside.
One was Yao Yunxi, still lying on the bed, and the other was, naturally, the recently missing Yao Yuanzhou.
Xu Fei quietly released his true qi, letting it spread and envelop the room.
Sensing no real threat, he acted fast, kicking the door open with a loud bang.
At the sound, Yao Yuanzhou, who’d been hunched by Yao Yunxi’s bedside, shot up, staring nervously at Xu Fei and Uncle He as they entered.
“You… what do you want? I’m warning you, stay away from Yunxi, or I’ll fight you to the death!”
The moment he saw Xu Fei and Uncle He step in, Yao Yuanzhou’s emotions spiked, volatile and unsteady.
He grabbed a fruit knife from the coffee table, his gaze sharp and fierce.
“Whoa, hold on, you little punk! You might not know Doctor Xu, but you don’t even recognize your Uncle He? And you dare pull a knife on me?”
Uncle He must’ve been good to Yao Yuanzhou in the past, because his firm words alone made Yao Yuanzhou slowly lower the blade.
Seeing him drop the knife, Xu Fei felt a wave of relief.
He, as esteemed Major General, naturally wasn’t afraid of a little fruit knife.
What he feared was Yao Yuanzhou, in a frantic moment, hurting himself or even taking Yao Yunxi hostage!
“Come on, Yuanzhou, don’t be scared. Tell your Uncle He what’s going on,” Uncle He said gently.
