More importantly, if Yao Dehai could get Wei Xinghuo to pack up and leave right then and there, he figured it would go a long way towards clearing up any misunderstanding with Xu Fei.
So, without much hesitation, Yao Dehai waved his hand dismissively, his face full of disdain, “Good thing you’ve got some self-awareness. Now scram!”
Seeing that Yao Dehai wasn’t keen on digging deeper, Wei Xinghuo nodded frantically and bolted without looking back.
It wasn’t until he and his crew were well clear of Wangjing Tower that the expression on Wei Xinghuo’s face shifted sharply.
Wang Zhao, trudging along beside him, couldn’t hide his gloom and muttered, “Brother Xing, getting chased out of Wangjing Tower like this, isn’t it a bit too humiliating?”
At those words, Wei Xinghuo’s gaze turned steely.
“What do you know? Back there, pretending to be scared and slipping away was the smartest move. Haven’t you heard the saying, ‘A gentleman’s revenge can wait ten years’?”
Back in the military, when Wei Xinghuo crossed paths with Xu Fei, it was his inability to keep his cool that got him booted out in the end.
After that lesson, no matter what, Wei Xinghuo knew he had to learn to bend and stretch if he wanted to call himself a real man.
Plus, that Yao Dehai had some dirt on him.
Wei Xinghuo could tell Xu Fei was highly valued by the Yao family.
If he hadn’t taken the chance to back off gracefully, the outcome might’ve been grim.
Yao Dehai, eager to stick up for Xu Fei, could’ve shoved that evidence in front of the old man.
And his godfather, a traditional soldier of the old school, didn’t tolerate a speck of dirt. He’d never let Wei Xinghuo off the hook.
“So… what do we do next, Brother Xing?”
Learning that his boss was just staging a tactical retreat and not actually caving in, Wang Zhao perked up noticeably.
“No rush. First, get some people to keep a close eye on this Xu Fei. Once I figure out his main reason for coming to the capital, I’ll make him understand what happens when you cross me!”
Wei Xinghuo shot a venomous glance at the towering Wangjing Tower in the distance, then turned and led his crew away without a backward glance.
Meanwhile, back at the Wangjing Tower property office, once Wei Xinghuo was gone, Yao Dehai immediately turned to Xu Fei and bowed a full ninety degrees.
“My deepest apologies, Divine Doctor Xu! It’s all my fault for not recognising you in my haste, causing this huge mix-up. Please forgive me!”
Xu Fei could easily guess that after he’d left the Yao family, the head must’ve issued an order to the entire clan in his name.
Otherwise, Yao Dehai wouldn’t have flipped to such a respectful and proper attitude the moment he recognised him.
But Xu Fei wasn’t fond of people fawning over him or putting on airs for show. He nodded and said, “I can let this slide. If you’ve got time to apologise, you’d be better off arranging someone to get my office sorted!”
Xu Fei didn’t beat around the bush, straight-up telling Yao Dehai he wanted to set up a branch office in the capital. Yao Dehai, all smiles, clasped his hands and replied, “Divine Doctor Xu, rest assured, I’ve got this covered! I’ll hire the best designers to revamp and decorate your new office. Please head back and give me a few days to sort it out!”
