After quietly saying this, Zhikong opened the door and led Xu Fei into the private room.
Upon entering, Xu Fei saw that it was a room decorated in a very simple and unadorned style, with a censer burning incense in the centre.
Elder Sushui was seated on a cushion placed on the floor in front of the censer. From the moment the two entered until now, he hadn’t once opened his eyes.
“Zhikong, why didn’t you come alone? Is this your friend?”
At this point, Deacon Zhikong hurriedly waved his sleeve, gave a deep bow to Elder Sushui, and said,
“In response to the Elder, this is a friend I’ve brought to introduce to you, hoping he can join our Red Buddha Society as a deacon.”
Only then did Elder Sushui slowly open his eyes, giving Xu Fei a thorough once-over.

He merely nodded nonchalantly, then turned to look at Deacon Zhikong beside him.
“Very well, we’re in need of people in the Red Buddha Society right now. Once the Hall Master’s birthday banquet is over today, I’ll arrange his paperwork immediately. For now, you two can wait and attend the banquet together!”
Though he didn’t receive Elder Sushui’s immediate approval, Xu Fei’s goal was simply to attend the Hall Master’s birthday banquet.
With this response, whether Elder Sushui would ultimately process his paperwork or not no longer felt particularly important to Xu Fei.
So, Xu Fei politely nodded, pretending to be courteous, and then followed Deacon Zhikong out of the room.
“That was Elder Sushui just now? It seems the Red Buddha Society really is full of hidden talents!”
After leaving, Xu Fei followed Deacon Zhikong to another resting area, where he spoke up without hesitation.
Hearing this, Deacon Zhikong felt a touch of helplessness.
Though he was a member of the Red Buddha Society, he was currently under Xu Fei’s thumb, after all, a silver needle was still hidden in his body by Xu Fei.
Even if he didn’t agree with Xu Fei’s words, he could only muster a flattering smile in response.
Meanwhile, after Xu Fei and Deacon Zhikong had left, the faint smile on Elder Sushui’s face vanished in an instant.
He immediately opened the door, stepped out of his private room, and made his way to the entrance of another, more spacious private room.

As soon as Elder Sushui rapped on the door, it swung open automatically, and a voice came from within.
“Who’s there? Come in.”
Only high-ranking members of the Red Buddha Society could come here, so Hall Master Gong Zisheng wasn’t particularly concerned for his safety.
“Elder Sushui, what brings you here now?”
