Xu Fei nodded upon hearing this. Indeed, he understood that for Deacon Zhikong, this was undoubtedly a life-changing event.
If, amidst the atmosphere of Gong Zisheng’s birthday banquet, Elder Sushui successfully put forward a recommendation for him, then Deacon Zhikong could rest easy for the latter half of his life.
“By the way, Lord Junshao, my master just now was quite interested in you. He insisted I come back and bring you along. What do you think…”
“No problem, I’ll go with you then. As long as Hall Master Gong Zisheng is present, it’s a good opportunity for me too.”
Xu Fei didn’t think much of it. After speaking, he stood up to show his intent.
Seeing this, Deacon Zhikong immediately took the lead to guide Xu Fei.
Xu Fei followed Deacon Zhikong, leaving the bustling front courtyard and arriving at the left rear courtyard.
The moment Xu Fei stepped into the courtyard, he instantly sensed something was off.
Though this was Gong Zisheng’s home, and nearly everyone gathered here was a cultivator by nature, the very instant Xu Fei entered the courtyard, he felt an invisible pressure bearing down on him.
Xu Fei couldn’t help but glance back at Deacon Zhikong, who was leading the way.
By all rights, this fellow should have stayed ahead the whole time, yet now he was gradually shrinking back behind Xu Fei.
It almost seemed as though he was too ashamed to walk in front, out of some inner guilt.
Putting these strange signs together, Xu Fei had already formed a rough guess in his mind.
There was surely some hidden trap in this courtyard.
Sure enough, as Xu Fei reached the centre of the courtyard, a figure emerged from a concealed spot on the other side, accompanied by bold, hearty laughter.
“Hahaha, I don’t know whether you’re brimming with confidence or simply fearless, daring to venture deep into my courtyard alone. So tell me, what exactly are you plotting?”
Lifting his head, Xu Fei saw a group approaching from that direction.
Leading them were two men. One, whom Xu Fei recognised, was Elder Sushui.
Back in the room, Elder Sushui had kept his eyes closed, exuding an air of kindness and benevolence. But now, with his eyes wide open, he looked as though he wanted to devour Xu Fei, his expression ferocious and menacing!
Beside him stood a middle-aged man, dressed impeccably in a sharp suit, with a faint beard on his face. This, presumably, was Gong Zisheng, one of the four great Hall Masters.
Xu Fei looked at Gong Zisheng, pausing for a moment before speaking.
“Who I am isn’t important. But I am curious—how did you figure out I’d infiltrated with a disguise?”
As he said this, Xu Fei couldn’t help but glance at Deacon Zhikong, suspecting that perhaps this fellow had used some method he wasn’t aware of to snitch.
Deacon Zhikong shrank back in fright, hastily shaking his head, while Gong Zisheng burst into hearty laughter once more.
“One look at you, and it’s clear you’ve been duped by that Flower-Faced Ghost Hand. To ordinary people, your current appearance would naturally be indistinguishable as a disguise.”
“But our Red Buddha Society has long gathered extensive information and data on that Flower-Faced Ghost Hand. She deliberately left a mark on your face, obvious to anyone with a keen eye!”
At this, Elder Sushui made a decisive move. A wave of true qi pressure surged forward.
Seeing this, Xu Fei assumed they were about to attack and immediately prepared himself to take it seriously.
