The needle mark was so tiny that there was no way this insignificant little quack could have noticed it.
And even if Xu Fei had somehow spotted it, it could easily be explained away as anaesthetic administered during surgery. But why was this bloke so insistent on making the auntie stay an extra day before discharge?
Though the pendulum clock had stopped, time itself wouldn’t halt its march.

At this, Dong Tianyi unleashed his near-perfect acting skills, putting on a saintly performance for Xiao Ai.

“Yeah, I’m aware of that.”
Xiao Ai nodded. Ever since that patient had been admitted, everything had been smooth sailing for her—green lights all the way. Later, she’d heard from colleagues that it was because she was Director Dong’s friend.
“The thing is, their family’s dirt poor. The mother’s got a serious illness, and all their savings only covered the surgery. They were meant to be discharged today, but I insisted they stay one more night.”
