Xu Fei asked this because he’d already seen Su Yu drunk in the car earlier.
She was genuinely intoxicated, her consciousness muddled and reactions sluggish, but she still retained some memory—at least in the car, she could recall her own name.
Hearing Xu Fei’s question, Su Yu rubbed her head, racking her brains until she finally pieced it together.
“I only remember that after I got back, someone handed me a bowl of sobering soup. After that, it felt like I was sleepwalking, stumbling about… and then you were, like, about to kiss me…”
“About to kiss you? That was to save you, to neutralise the drug’s effects! In plain terms, you were drugged!” Xu Fei snapped, rolling his eyes at her before escorting her back to her room.
“You… what are you doing? Wasn’t it enough in your room, and now you want to do it here…?” Seeing Xu Fei draw closer, Su Yu’s heart raced, unsure if it was nerves or excitement.
“Put your imagination away, you’re in my way!”
Su Yu turned to look and saw Xu Fei had already stepped around her, picking up the medicine bowl from the bedside table.
“This odd smell… that old man’s no simple character…”
There were still some dregs at the bottom of the bowl. As Xu Fei brought it to his nose, he caught the strong scent of a hallucinogenic potion.
This was the Su family’s home, Su Yu’s own house, and the only person who knew she’d come back drunk was Su Hong.
This led Xu Fei to a bold hypothesis: Su Yu’s earlier state of burning desire must have been caused by Su Hong drugging her!
“Even a tiger doesn’t eat its own cubs. Why would that old man do this? Could he have uncovered my true identity?”
Xu Fei’s mind began to race as he seriously pondered the question.
He knew his limits. To the outside world, he was just an ordinary bloke with a knack for treasure appraisal.
Such an identity hardly warranted Su Hong going to such lengths, repeatedly using his own daughter’s happiness as bait to throw her at him.
Moreover, Xu Fei had guarded his true identity so carefully that no one else could possibly know.
“It seems I’ve got to hand it to that old man Su Hong. He looks unremarkable, but he’s hiding such astonishing insight and cunning!”
After mulling it over, the only explanation was that ever since word got back about Xu Fei causing a scene at the Jiang family matriarch’s birthday banquet, Su Hong had taken a shine to him.
With this in mind, everything that followed started to make sense.
Otherwise, why would Su Hong allow his pampered young lady to mingle with a penniless nobody like Xu Fei?
“Did you… figure something out?”
Su Yu, seeing Xu Fei lost in thought for so long, couldn’t help but ask.
“I think someone in your family definitely drugged you. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be acting so out of character!”
Xu Fei pointed to the black powder at the bottom of the bowl.
“What? This is my home! Who’d be bold enough to do that? I’m going to drag them out right now!”
Su Yu wasn’t one to back down. On the contrary, years of being spoiled as the young miss had made her fearless.
But Xu Fei held out a hand to stop her.
“No need to rush. It’s probably some enemy of your Su family who planted someone here. This was likely just a coincidence.”
“A coincidence?”
“Yeah, think about it. How long has it been since you last came home?”
