“This beast actually launched a sneak attack from behind me. If I hadn’t been prepared, I’d probably be in real trouble!”
Thanks to his early warning, Xu Fei reacted quickly.
He swiftly turned around, lifted his leg, and delivered a fierce kick.
The fox probably hadn’t expected that, despite attacking from behind, this human could still respond.
The kick landed squarely, and with a whimper, the fox immediately darted away, putting distance between itself and Xu Fei.
Xu Fei looked at the fox, silently cursing to himself.
“Is this Tai Sui meat really that powerful? I put so much force into that kick, and it didn’t even react or get injured!”
In Xu Fei’s view, with his current strength, even if he couldn’t kill the fox with one kick, he should at least have seriously injured or crippled it.
But as it stood, the fox only seemed to feel pain, whimpering at the moment of impact, and showed no signs of injury after landing.
“Swish!”
After stabilising itself, the fox launched another attack, further proving that Xu Fei’s earlier strike was essentially ineffective.
This time, the fox came straight at him from the front, and Xu Fei, no matter what, had enough strength to react and dodge.
In the midst of these agile movements, Xu Fei gradually lured the fox to a relatively open area.
This was Xu Fei’s little plan.
After all, when facing a beast this agile with the ability to kill in one strike, it was best to avoid fighting in terrain like a forest.
The fox, which had been relentlessly pursuing Xu Fei, suddenly noticed the sunlight overhead becoming unbearably intense and realised something was off.
But by then, Xu Fei had blocked the entrance to the forest, effectively cutting off the fox’s retreat.
Seeing no way out, the fox let out a low growl and launched another attack.
“Hmph! Now I’m not afraid of you, you beast!”
In this open area, without the forest’s cover, Xu Fei could finally fight freely.
The fox’s confident pounce was instantly thwarted by Xu Fei.
He channelled his true qi into one hand, forming a giant-like arm that tightly gripped the fox’s neck.
No matter how much the fox struggled, it was futile.
“Though the heavens favour life, you not only stole the Tai Sui but also have a heart to harm others. I’d better get rid of you!”
With that, a silver needle slipped from Xu Fei’s other sleeve, swiftly striking the fox’s vital point.
The fox, held aloft by Xu Fei, flailed its limbs with its last strength before going still.
Xu Fei then tossed the giant fox’s corpse to the ground, using his true qi-wrapped hand like a sharp scalpel to slice open its stomach, retrieving the partially digested Tai Sui meat.
Though the scene was somewhat gruesome, Xu Fei was more focused on the Tai Sui meat in his hand.
“It looks a bit odd, but I’d better head back to check if Zhu Fu’s dead and let him confirm what this is.”
Xu Fei grabbed the Tai Sui meat and returned to the forest.
When he arrived, he saw Zhu Fu looking pale and weak but still breathing, not dead. Xu Fei walked over and gave him a light kick.
