“Major General, that old Zhang tou has been waiting for you in his courtyard.”
Bai Zhan, standing guard outside the farmhouse, pointed as soon as he saw Xu Fei arrive.
“I know, open the door, I need to have a proper chat with this old man!”
Bai Zhan nodded and opened the door, but what he didn’t expect was this.
As soon as the door opened, Xu Fei strode in and kicked the stone table beside old Zhang tou, sending it flying.
The table, likely hauled back by old Zhang tou, must have weighed a ton by rough estimate, yet Xu Fei’s casual kick sent it crashing through the courtyard wall.
“I’m telling you, old Zhang tou, this is the Tai Sui you wanted, but if you don’t come clean about what’s really going on, the next thing flying will be you!”
Since becoming Major General, Xu Fei had rarely been toyed with like this, so he was furious.
Old Zhang tou, however, remained calm, sighing with a hint of regret as he spoke.
“How would I dare deceive you? I’ve only told the truth. My wife is lying inside, she was the first to eat the Tai Sui, and now she’s terminally ill.”
“If you don’t believe me, you can go see for yourself.”
Xu Fei’s expression shifted abruptly, and he followed old Zhang tou into the mud-brick house.
Though the light inside was dim, Xu Fei could clearly see an old woman lying on the bed.
Her condition was dire, as if something was devouring her life force.
Xu Fei then felt the Yang energy within him stirring again, but this time he didn’t stop it.
The Yang energy surged forth, transforming into a golden light that pierced through the old woman’s body.
Old Zhang tou only saw a flash of gold, unaware of what had happened.
Xu Fei, with his clairvoyant vision, saw clearly: a lingering black qi in the old woman’s body had been consumed by the Yang energy.
The old woman slowly woke up, and old Zhang tou was overcome with excitement at the sight.
“You… you’re practically a living immortal! Thank you so much!”
Old Zhang tou was clearly too thrilled to speak coherently, but Xu Fei’s expression remained unchanged.
“Now can you explain what exactly you found in that forest?”
To his surprise, old Zhang tou shook his head and said, “If you’re here for that, I know why, but you’re too late. About three months ago, everything in the forest vanished, as if it had all been moved away like a human relocation.”
“Vanished? What’s that supposed to mean?”
Xu Fei pressed, but old Zhang tou dropped to his knees with a thud.
“You’re now our family’s saviour, I wouldn’t dare lie to you. But the mysterious things in that forest truly disappeared, and I have no other solutions.”
Hearing this, Xu Fei couldn’t help but sigh, then turned to Bai Zhan.
“Contact Hell’s Ear immediately. Tell him to use his high-tech methods and coordinate with your manpower. Even if we have to turn the entire mountain upside down, we need to find a clue!”
“This time, I’ll lead the team myself!”
Just as Xu Fei finished speaking, while Bai Zhan was still calling Hell’s Ear, Xu Fei suddenly received a phone call.
